Crucial M4 256GB SSD $199 (Shipping: WA = Free, Others = $12- $14) at PLE Computers

240

I think this is the cheapest local price for the 256GB M4 I've seen yet.

It's amazing how cheap these SSD's are getting these days!
I bought the 128GB version about 10 months ago for more than this…

Local pickup available, or shipping is free within Western Australia.

  • Just out of interest, what's the lowest ever price on the 256?

  • Ok. This is a really good price for local stock. I'll bite!

  • Are they really as unreliable as comments/reviews on Amazon?

    • I have a 256GB M4 as well as a 128GB one, for 7 months now, no problems.

    • These ones or SSD is general?? Anyway I had a problem with the 128G one. PC would lockup completely, had to cold restart.. after awhile I found out that a firmware update was needed otherwise this problem occurs after 5100 odd hours use. Since doing the FW update it has been fine.

    • I have had the 128GB one for 16 months with no problems at all. Like someone else earlier in this thread, I paid for it then the 256GB one costs now.

    • +1

Got both the 128gb & 256gb for a long time now, and except for the above mentioned fw update that was required had 0 issues.
In general these are considered one of the most reliable ssds out there and a common recommendation on many forums.

  • Best upgrade I have done in years getting one of these… apart from the FW issue, been very happy. Very tempted to get the 256GB one though, as my 128 boot drive is full already with just Windows 7 and apps.

  • i dont know much about, can some one link a SSD's Hierarchy Chart ?

  • Are these better than the Intel 520?

    • about to ask the same thing ..

    • Hey Huey,

Don't quote me but from memory from a performance perspective it depends on wether you have a sata 2 or 3 chipset. It's been discussed somewhere on ozbargain before in a previous deal. If my memory servse me right the Crucial performs faster on sata 2 than the Intel 520 and vice versa on sata 3. In saying that both are fast and reliable.

    • I do think the 520 is considered more highly but it is also dearer isn't it? Check AnandTech.com for full qualified answers.

  • I got this 256GB SSD from Amazon for $165 AUD 2 days ago.
