      Best in slot?

  • This looks great

anyone with a lot of vertical content to read.

A normal 42" 4K monitor is about the same physical height as this, with a little less vertical resolution (2160 instead of 2880) - and roughly double the physical width with a horizontal resolution of 3840 instead of 2560.

Even if you have a lot of vertical content to read, the 42" 4K screen has nearly twice the area…

    • also a fair amount of money for 60hz and 300nits

      • Monitor quality goes beyond just refresh rate and brightness; factors like resolution, panel technology, aspect ratio and colour accuracy also play a crucial role in the overall experience.

        • +2

It's a middling edgelit IPS panel with colour accuracy that matches existing 1440p 144hz+ monitors that cost half as much. 900 bucks is slowly breaking into the oled price territory.

          • @JerraJones:

existing 1440p 144hz+ monitors that cost half as much.

Apples to Oranges. Those are standard 16:9 monitors and you get exactly half the screen real estate. The unique feature of this is the 16:18 aspect ratio.

True, but surely I'm not the only one who feels like a 42" TV is overwhelming for a monitor?
Maybe it's just me, but wider aspect ratios make me feel obligated to "use up" any unused screen on the side of what I'm reading.
And I did buy in on the c2 deal earlier this year … I'm probably the only ozbargainer who purely uses that as a TV, not monitor.

    • I got an LG 43UD79-B for work a few years ago and was an instant convert, if you like it you really can't go back to dual 27" or ultrawide.

      • I hear your pain . I also have a LG 43UD79-B and used a dual screen setup and missed my quad window layout. Tried my son's new model Samsung odyssey g9 and had to ask him did some sit on it and squashed it lol , it's wide but squat

        • Yeah, that's why I don't really get the hype around 32:9 for productivity - these giant monitors are essentially two 32:9 ones stacked on top of each other

    • Do you choose a monitor based on area or what you actually need and the space you have available?

    • This is more for the creative purpose.
As seen in the photo, video editing etc.
The screen needs to be in one eyesight not moving eyeballs or neck.

This is great for anyone in the niche of building an arcade cabinet for retro games and sparing no expense to play them.

      This!

    • Exactly right, this Is why I got one last time HN had a sale around the same price

  • I ordered this last week and was immediatly advised it was delayed and on back order. So if you want it now, probably wouldn't bother.
