Powerbomb for overseas travelling. Stock up on travel insurance. Heh heh.

I only downvoted this comment and only because of "you's".

          you's

          youse :)

          • @willyroo: I vote yes for a distinct second person plural in English.

            Maybe not youse.

            Maybe youguys.

            • @Eeples: In this day and age, it's very brave of you to use such a strong masculine pronoun to encompass all sexes.

There are only two charging ports….

    • +1

      ?
      1 USB A, 1 USB C, AC plug.

      • -3

AC plug is just a passthrough (120/240V), not for charging devices.

        • +5

But you could plug a laptop charger into it.
So you can still charge 3 devices.

you can plug that directly into the outlet.

Cool. Then you can charge four devices.

Cool. Then you can charge four devices.

Or more, if you connect another power adaptor.

But then it's the other adaptor doing the charging, not this one.

This is just passing through the electricity.

                • +4

@jv: Who cares? (Just you actually.) Then you can charge four devices.

                    Not with this power adaptor…

                    It can only charge two.

                    • +1

@jv: You haven't even specified what the devices are, nor how they charge.

                      • @afoveht: Ask the OP, I can't edit their post.

                        • +5

                          @jv: OP said

                          which remains true.

              • @afoveht: Not if you only have one outlet.

            • @jv: This is a travel adapter.

You won't be able to plug your Australian power adapter directly into a US outlet. So you plug it into this travel adapter, hence charging up to three devices at once.

          • +1

            @ihuntbargains:

So you can still charge 3 devices.

The AC will require an additional power adaptor

              @jv: You're annoying

              • -8

                @chickennix: Thank you…

                You can keep trying though…

            • +4

@jv: How do you need another travel adaptor?

If the room only has one power outlet and I plug this into the wall, I can then charge two devices via USB, and then use the passthrough to charge a laptop.

What do you think the USB outlets are doing? They're just passing electricity through too. The adaptor isn't charging your devices.

You seriously can't be that dense?

              • +1

Or, instead of a laptop charger, you could plug in a TV, so it would be a two output charger that also runs a TV! Or maybe in a few months, you could connect your Christmas tree lights to it, and then it would be a two output charger with Christmas tree lights. The possibilities are infinite!

                • @pjetson: I'm not sure why, but @jv is trying to say this can only charge two devices, when you can charge three.

OP should add these features in the description…

              • @NoApostrophePlurals: Dude, don't you see he's trolling you?

            • +1

@jv: Why not just stack power boards out of the back of this baby, then the device count is based on load…. LOL

Shown on one of the slides in the carousel just before the Comparison Chart - USB A is 5V/2.4A and USB C is 5V/3A.

      • cheers. Guess it's useless as a laptop charger then, oh well.

  • HEYMIX is an esteemed brand

Make sure you bring a smoke alarm with you on your travels :D

  • +4

am I missing any joke here? What's wrong with Heymix? I bought a charger from them years ago but everything is ok

    • Heymix devices will heat your hotel room alright!

    • My anecdote is that this brand blew my magsafe cable and/or the magsafe port on my laptop. After almost a year of working without problems.
And I realised this not when I woke up to a half-charged laptop, but a few minutes later when I plugged in my phone and started smelling smoke

  • +13

People be like "I won't buy this dangeours item, and then go buy a LENCENT branded item instead.

    • Multiple reports of heymix almost burning the house down vs zero reports of lencent products doing the same. It makes sense.

  • If you need fast charging but don't want to pay a hundred bucks for 100w, this is pretty decent https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005687897000.html?spm=a2…

  • +5

Just used the black version with 3xUSB-A and a USB-C for 3 months in UK, Europe and Asia.

Worked really nicely and DID NOT explode or break, just make sure to test all the ports when it arrives my phone wouldnt charge with the USB-C port so had to use a normal adapter plugged in. Otherwise highly reccomend.

  • +4

Don't understand all the negative comments, seems like these are dangerous for whatever reason. I do need some adapters and these are well priced. Could someone clarify?

    • +3

Some reviewers have suggested that they are significantly more likely to catch fire than brand name chargers.

      • +7

But this is a brand name charger, HEYMIX is a genuine registered trademark, right between HAAJOORB and HUUCAY.

    • My Heymix charger exploded and tripped the circuit braker in the house. Very annoying when you're WFH and your house goes dark.

So… I suspect these other people bagging on heymix products also had similar experiences.

  • 🔥 deal

  • +1

i know heymix gets a bad rap, but surely this is better than the $2 ones you get from Asia? (the generic converters without the USB ports etc)

    • +5

The generic power converters have less to go wrong with them. No electronics, no AD-DC conversion, just dumb bits of metal.

These 'smart' travel chargers have electronics and wobbly moving parts to convert to different types of socket.

If I'm travelling, I'll take a USB charger that comes with dedicated plates to swap to US/EU/whatever, and a laptop charger that takes a figure 8 IEC cord. Most the time the laptop charger will charge a phone so fast I don't need more than one USB out, and the multi port charger is just used for cheap micro-usb devices like ebook readers.

      • Noted, I usually bring one of those $2 adapters and a powerboard which is usually enough to power my electronics

  • Bad quality control with heymix
    So risk is with buyer

  • Make sure your travel insurance has high public liability cover.

    • -2

Things could go badly inside a crowded hostel.

  • +1

I get all the downvotes and won’t buy this.

But is there a good quality product like this on the market? I am talking about one brick like this which covers almost the entire world with adapters and has got USB-C.

I can only find the versions where you need to disassemble the pins and switch on a different adapter for different countries , like the old MacBook plugs. But I am looking for a brick, just one single piece. Any ideas OZB fam?

    • +2

I've been using this adapter for at least 5-6 years (can't recall the brand I've got but it's sold under a hundred different names, same green brick charger/adapter). Doesn't have quick charge or PD, but it works reliably and hasn't failed me yet. Seems to have consistently good reviews as well.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/SAUNORCH-Universal-International-W…

I think the alternative, quality wise, is a multi-USB charger from Anker or the like with a figure-8 cable that you can swap depending on country you'll be visiting.

      • +1

Cheers. The one you sent looks like cheap quality as well.

And yeah, I know about the ones where you can swap the cable/plug. But I was looking for a brick that eliminates that. Suppose the product - good quality brick with QC - simply doesn’t exist (yet).

        • +1

It's pretty sturdy, solid plastics and the USB ports are solid. It's got a sort of matte texture that feels quality. The sliding plug pins could maybe be more solid but I don't think you'll find any similar adapter with that many moving parts/plugs that doesn't have that issue since they're not physically attached to the device. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

          • @Sqz66: Thanks!

    • Use your laptop charger and match with a cable for the country you're visiting.

  • been using this brand form almost 10 yrs
okay minus 3 yrs because covid - no overseas travel
at least served the purpose for me to use my australia plug for ASIA & EUROPE business trip
maybe got lucky because got the good batch of their manufacturing
Recently use it for my holiday to south korea

    • +2

been using this brand form almost 10 yrs

They've really been around that long?

      • +2

I imagine they were using the original prototypes.

  • boom boom pow

  • I bought this from the previous super deal and the big issue I found was that the au plug doesn’t sit into the socket tight. It’s very loose

    • +4

That's not good. A bad connection can mean arcing which can mean 🔥.

This is a travel adapter and doesn't look to have a proper Australian plug. It has a plug with uninsulated pins and is rotated 180 degrees which is the plug for China.

  • +5

There is no such thing as a "Heymix Charger". They are all white labeled chargers manufactured by various factories in China. Heymix only imports them and slaps a label on them (not really, you just upload your logo and they are labeled at the factory). They don't do their own QC.

TL;DR: Regardless of which brand-of-the-month (Heymix, Lencent, Zyron, etc) you buy from, you are buying the same charger. If you are concerned, just go with a reputable brand such as Anker, Belkin etc. They fail too, but much less likely.

  • Just bought the black version last night $14 :( arrived already

  • Just in time for my flight booked via Firefly.

  • Currently I am using it in OS, no issues at all, working well. By the way I am in a place right now where the temperature is more than 31c, I did not see any heat on the adapter

  • Used it recently on my trips to Singapore and India.
I used it to charge two devices - a SurfacePro and an iPhone..
I used it non-stop for 30days with no problem.
    Would buy it again..

  • Should have thrown in a free bag of marshmallows..

  • Amazon, if it burns your house down you'll at least get hte 9,99 back

  • Recived this morning. It's showing "USB output 5V 2.4A total"

  • +1

Check out Zyron 66W GAN Travel Charger, with multi plugs and 100W USB C cable. Good quality and compact size.
Australian owned so the quality is pretty good.

    • I think it is still made in China?
