Another fire deal on Amazon. 3x Camels show this to be the all time low (apparently, but I don't think so). Free delivery with Amazon, no Prime required.

Officeworks same price too, with limited stock, free delivery with OnePass.

Enjoy :)

Maybe it's showing as an all time low for a single stick, as the lower prices were generally on 2-fa deals

Also can get it for $41.65 C&C @ The Good Guys eBay for eBay Plus Members using SEPT15 for those interested.

The real deal is always in the comments

I'm not seeing free postage & I have eBay Plus.

true ozbargainer would have no such view. Cost per kilometre if driving home/GG/home. Depreciation on shoe soles if walking there.

          • +1

@seamonkey: A true Ozbargainer is heading to the GG's every week anyway to pick up their GG Commercial orders.

          • +1

            @seamonkey: finally someone understands

          • @seamonkey: You have missed depreciation for your electronic equipment to place an order. Battery drains and need to juice more!!!

    • Comes up at $46.85 for me with postage of $5

      • Still cheaper than $47

        • Worth 15c for the quick delivery ;-)

However, I ended up doing click and collect for the GG as its just down the road.

  • 🔥?

    • Heymix?

        Haha. Yeah.

  • Is the UI oldfart friendly like Apple TV & Google TV? I.e. is it easy to navigate & can you use your phone/ipad to cast say iView & YouTube stuff?

    • similar to google tv but different.

    • +1

The UI is easy to navigate and use. However, if you are planning to cast from your phone, get the Google TV

    • I have a fire tv stick and honestly I don’t use it.

Just simply because it doesn’t have all the streaming apps while the other devices/google tv ones do.

  • +2

This should go well with Stremio :)

    • Been thinking about getting one for this reason lol. Guessing you use it with an app on your android/ios device?
Is it possible to use it with a VPN just 'in case'?

      • You just install the app on your fire stick.

Have a look at adding real debrid to your Stremio account and you wont have to worry about VPNS :)

        • real debrid to your Stremio account and you wont have to worry about VPNS

I looked it up but I don't see how it alleviates the need to use a VPN? To be clear, I'm not worried about stream quality but rather, for the same reason I use a VPN when torrenting. Also not that keen on another subscription service 🤔

          • +2

@ChillBro: Because real depbrid turns it from P2P sharing to loading off their cache so pretty much the ISP can't see what you're doing anyway. Once you have rd you never go back , it makess a huge a difference for older shows etc 😁

        • It works fine without real debrid. Why you need it?

        • +3

Can vouch for RealDebrid, worth the few bucks a month, considering it allows me to completely cut off my Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ spending while still being able to maintain the same convenience.

You can use Stremio without it, but RD is such a massive QOL improvement mainly because you never have to worry about buffering again (+ the added benefit of no longer using P2P to download torrents if you're worried about getting flagged by your ISP).

          • @Shekster: Is there a guide somewhere on how to use this real debris torrentio combination? Also are you saying that you can view all of Netflix, Disney content using this and without having to subscribe to each of those

          • @Shekster: Not a great idea using Stremio without RD as your ISP can see what you’re doing.

    • Works flawlessly!

    • thanks for this! sparked my interest, followed the guide here, and just set it up with RD. AMAZING! :D

  • Was thinking about it vs a Google Chromecast 4K

    https://www.whathifi.com/advice/amazon-fire-tv-stick-4k-max-…

  • Much better performance over the Chromecast 4K, but the interface isn't as good. I'd still have to choose the Google TV for the interface & input button.

That being said, I think having Alexa / Google Assistant as the most important factor.

    • "having Alexa / Google Assistant as the most important factor."

What do you mean by that?

      • If you have Alexa devices, or Google Home's already. The voice control is a considerable factor.

        • OK gotcha.

I have a Google Chromecast 4K and Google Home Speaker paired up to my main TV.

I also have a $10 (or was it free?) Amazon Echo. Maybe I'll buy the Firestick for my dumb TV just to play around with and compare the 2.

  • Is this a replacement for like a Roku box? Mines old and laggy! Sometimes it won't even play YouTube videos, and I have to reset it.

It does the job, but annoying.

    • It is, minus casting which isn't as available, if you use casting I would go with the Google TV

      • You can't cast to the fire stick from your phone? That's a deal breaker for me.

        • I use the Firestick primarily and I find the casting options to be rare and abysmal.

      • I don't cast, I download onto an external HD.

Mainly just for apps, my Roku doesnt even have Apple TV(I have to use my PS5)

  • Ad free youtube on these?

I personally find an excellent stick for travelling as plays better with hotel wifis with portals etc

    • just don't be like me not taking the remote thinking i can use the mobile phone app. only to realise i need to connect it to the wifi first (which requires using the remote) to use mobile app.

    • Good to hear as this is what I have purchased it for. Hotels. Usually I connect the laptop but it is annoying not having a remote control. This should do the job a lot better!

    • I often find that it doesn't work well with automatically detecting the varying resolutions of hotel/motel TV screens. Just boots into a black screen and the different methods of forcing a resolution auto detecting via the remote doesn't work.

Anyone encountered that before? Any tips?

  • Great deal!

  • I worked it out as about $39 with shopback amazon gift cards, and using shopback at 13% cashback.

  • is this a good replacement for an OG nvidia shield? i just use youtube, prime video, disney+ and plex off my NAS

    • Nope, get the 2019 if you feel the need to upgrade cos there ain’t nothing like the Shield.

  • Never ordered from Amazon in Australia before, so was very surprised at delivery time! I ordered the first one late Thursday, it arrived Saturday morning, ordered another late Saturday and it arrived hours later on Sunday, so fast I had to check if I accidentally signed up to that Amazon Prime Deal!
