TCL 198L Top Mount Refrigerator $273 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ The Good Guys

1441

50% off RRP$549, definitely an all time low, cheapest top mount fridge in Australia currently with a 3 year warranty thrown in as well for your peace of mind. Reviews on Google are very good at 4.5 stars. First time I've seen a TCL fridge being sold by a mainstream store.

Can this fridge turn into a freezer? I think all the morden ones can be either all freezer or refrigerator or a mix of both but unsure

    • +1

Just guessing but most likely not at this low entry level price and model.

    • +16

      Yeah… that’s definitely not a “common” feature

    • Total Capacity: 198L
      Fridge Capacity: 144L
      Freezer Capacity: 54L

For what it is, that's a good price.

      • -2

        A fridge for ants?

        • +7

If you're familiar with the term bar fridge….this is a lot bigger than one of them.

      • +4

4x the capacity for almost half the price of a camping fridge I just bought.
If only I could fit this one in the trunk…

        • What about the boot?

          • +1

@TEER3X: Nah, that’s where the extra gas(oline) goes.

          • +1

@TEER3X: That's gonna be one mad elephant.

      • its enough for someone living alone. i have a 223L and i keep a few 2L milk jugs full of water on hand to occupy the empty space in the fridge.

Once the water is cold, it stays cold and doesnt spill out like the cold air in the fridge does when you open it.

        • -1

why do you need a fridge if you live alone, can't you just chill?

          • @TEER3X: Incase of a zombie outbreak and no water service. You have two jugs to chill with.

    • +1

domestic fridge/freezer turn into all freezer or all fridge? errr….NO

      • -1

Ours can, and it's a cheap fridge around 221L

    • Yeah I wish the big part could be a freezer and the small part a fridge. Always need more freezer space, especially since I started vacuum sealing.

    • Cool story bro

Wish they had a black or stainless model

    • +3

Buy a can or 2 of black spray paint. Or perhaps wrap it.

  • +6

Somewhat reminds me of this old deal.
Still got it. Still going strong. Zero problems.
Think we all here had $20 code vouchers from signing up to newsletter less $9.60 cashback from cashrewards (tracked = $176.4 delivered! 😂🤣

    • +3

That was the best fridge deal ever, gave me a bit of fomo at the time as did not need extra fridge.

    • +1

      That's an awesome price

    • +4

      Mine still sealed in box.
Got it for $150 after discounts

      • +1

Oh man. That's awesome. What are you waiting for? For your current one to just inevitably stop one day? I've actually got the main fridge and this one set up in the kitchen, it works well.

Not tempted to set it up in the garage or something?

        • +5

          Got it as a spare.
Nothing worse that fridge dying and throwing away a few hundred of groceries.
Then being forced to pay full price on a new fridge.

@easternculture: I feel your life might be highly organised EC. I strive for that and fall short.

            • +4

@seamonkey: EC should write a book on how to save money. I would buy that book instantly. (I hope he would give me an OZB price)

              • +1

@Scrooge McDeal: Agree. I'd contribute to the crowdsourcing of such a product.

                • +1

@seamonkey: Haha, I agree he is a master at saving and double/tripple stacking discounts and coupons

etc.I remember when he was debating to buy his first Moto G smartphone many years ago

and pulled the trigger verry carefully on a smoking deal. I love a good bargain,

but no where near as arganised lol.

                  • +1

@ozhunter68: Wouldn't take much to arrange an ozbargain…this is your life.

Season 1 would be easy….EC, Clear, plenty of others, I wonder what week JV will be. 🙂

          • +1

@easternculture: That’s why you should have a spare partner as well

  • Tempted for a garage fridge

    • Same boat

    $20 off $200 spend with StudentBeans…

I bought this May last year, think it was about 500 delivered. Still going.

The only issue, one that I didn't notice before, was that if you set the freezer temp to mid/recommended. The temp only goes down to about -8 to -9. Needed to crank it to the coldest to get to -16.

For the fridge, the mid is about 4 degrees, so I turned it all the way down as well…..

  • Got the 65C835. Now I'm getting this. What's next?

  • -1

I think it should be $176

  • I need a slightly bigger one at around 400 litres. Is there one on sale?

My current fridge is acting weird. Only the top freezer works. The bottom one doesn't. If we leave the fridge off for 24 hours, both the sections work for a few days and then problem starts again. If we keep the doors to the top freezer open, then we notice some cool air flowing into the bottom section. I wish there was a DIY method to fix this problem.

      Time to call the council

      • Yeah the council man needs to take my refrigerator away.

    • +1

Probably costing a fortune in electricity if it's running 24/7. You can get ~ $30 scrap at a metal recyclers.

      • Okay, that explains the recent electricity bill.

  • +1

    make it a kegerator!

  • +1

Thanks OP. I wa looking for a fridge. This one was slightly shorter than I am looking for. My fridge spare goes up to 183cm. But should be ok I guess.

Btw What’s a good place to buy discounted GG gift cards?

  • How do you pronounce this brand? Is it Tee-curl?

  • Must be upgrading to USB-C

  • Thank you, think I'm going to purchase with delivery though

    • Wats your delivery fee like? Mines $55. Wondering if that’s normal

      • +2

delivery $55 for me as well from warehouse. Pickup unavailable from 2 nearest stores

        • Thanks. I guess it’s not just me. That’s 25% of the sale price lol. I’m reconsidering now

  • Changed mind, a bit too small and very compact.

  • Wonder if this can be used as a wine fridge. An entry level wine fridge costs more than this.

  • Man….. if it was .5 energy stars more it'd be free in QLD.

  • -1

Don't buy anything from the good guys, worst customer service along with harvey norman.

  • +1

Thanks , just purchased one , my old fridge has been making some weird noises which it never did before and is way bigger than I need.

    • what postcode did you use?

      • Frankston 3199 $55 delivery charge for a delivery date 26/09/23

  • Anyone having issue with the delivery option?

On the product page it says delivery is available but on checking out it says delivery for the item is not available. WTH is going on?

    • Sorry. It's fine. After I signed out, the delivery option magically became available

  • not coming up as available for pickup or delivery
    "
    Warning!
There isn't a store within 500km that has your order in stock. Please select delivery, or try a different postcode or suburb.
    "

  • Everyone beware that a lot of orders are going to be cancelled. Just spent the whole day on the phone with customer service and the store I ordered at and was told they don't have enough stock nationally to fulfil. They won't allow further backorders, only cancellations.

  • Still waiting on mine. Called the store they had no idea of delivery date but it seems to be in stock

    • +1

good luck. It was a great price.
