  • Is it different to his version?: https://mimsshst.blob.core.windows.net/drug-resources/MY/pac… as this one is a controlled medicine..All I nose is that it works well!

even i wanted to know, this prescription Dymista was the only one worked on me and it was around $50, none of the tablets and sprays ever worked on me.

      • Almost the same strength for one of the ingredients but should still work just the same.

        • Actually, the photo above is not the Australian version. The prescription version in Australia is a lower strength, which is exactly the same as the new over the counter version.

      no - 137mcg azelastine hydrochloride = 125mcg azelastine :)

pharmacist here, the medicines has been down-scheduled from schedule 4 (prescription only medicine) to schedule 2 (pharmacy medicine) so it can be purhased over the counter without the need for a prescription, exact same strength, quantity, dose and manufacturer as the original S4 medicine.

      • Ah thanks for clearing that up!

      • cheers.
can i ask you a question about too please.

ive heard it is a steroid and antihistamine combo.
so does that mean you shouldnt use a separate antihistamine while taking this¿

        • you could take oral antihistamine with it - why?

  • Is this good for nose bleeding

    • +3

Not as good as a punch in the nose, but I suppose it could help if you jammed it up there far enough…

my daughter gets nose bleeds sometimes. ENT specialist told her to apply gel to keep inside of nose moist. it happens from dry nose apparently, or something along those lines.

i'm very obviously not a doctor, but at least for my daughter, ENT didn't say it was allergy or rhinitis or w/e, but rather that it was a dry nose.

so this spray wouldn't be suitable for my daughter's nose bleeds.

      • Same, the area i live in can be quite humid and dry

      • Talk to the pharmacist before use.
This and some other ones can actually cause nose bleed, or increase the chances.
Happened to me and my doc said it's just the side effects. YMMV.

My partner and I suffer from this and my ENT recommends sesame oil spray for this. It's non medicated and can be purchased from the shelves.

        • I will try! thank you

Nose bleeds can also happen if you're not spraying it correctly. It's not a spray directly up into the nose.. Rather angled towards the back of your head and towards your ear. (don't spray towards middle nose wall)

    • +1

No, this is more likely to cause nosebleeds. Its for decreasing inflamation

I used to get nosebleeds, heavy ones that would fill up cups with blood before they stopped. While there's things you can do to mitigate them, the best solution I found was to hydrate like crazy. I drink a liter of water before midday, and then regular drinks throughout the day.

      • Hydration is the key then?

  • How does this compare to Ryaltris?

    • +1

they're both combination nasal corticosteroid/antihistamine sprays, but Ryaltris requires a private prescription, so is more expensive

a Dymista dose is one spray, whereas it's two for Ryaltris, so the latter would take more time/effort, but a half-dose is possible

tl;dr: try Dymista first - but preferably check with a doctor beforehand
