Ultimate9 EVC Throttle Controller EVC152 - $160 + Shipping @ 4WD Industries

120

The best price I've seen for years.

Long story short, i saw repco have 30% off the EVC Throttle Controller which brought the price down to $199. I was happy to pay that but saw that supercheap price beat on their website. So i got them to do that. They only beat it by $1, which brought the price down to $198. I was given a code to put in at checkout, but it didnt work. A few days later, i decided to google this device and came across the website - 4wd Industries - and saw that they had my specific model for $160. So i went online to supercheap and got them to price beat. So in the end, i only paid $159. Will be installing it soon.

Unleash the power potential of your vehicle with the EVC Throttle Controller by Ultimate9. The EVC Throttle Controller is a DIY product, able to be fitted to a vehicle in as little as 5 minutes to help remove throttle lag.

With its 4 driving modes and 20 levels of sensitivity to cycle between, the EVC gives you more control over your vehicle’s throttle response to better suit varying terrains, driving styles and situations.

THROTTLE MODES & LEVELS OF ADJUSTMENT

  • Ultimate Mode [9 levels]: Enhance your throttle response and choose from 9 levels of sensitivity to fine-tune your vehicle's response.

  • Adapt Mode [1 level]: Take the guesswork out. Let Adapt Mode choose the best Ul-timate throttle response based on your pedal input.

  • Eco Mode [9 levels]: Subdue your initial throttle response for greater control on loose, uneven surfaces such as when off-road. With 9 levels to choose from, Eco Mode is great for off-road, heavy traffic and low-speed towing manoeuvres. Try your luck and see if you can gain more economy from your vehicle!

  • Factory Mode [1 level]: Replicates factory throttle settings, ideal for sharing your vehicle with an unfamiliar driver.

they're just telling you to politely G.F'd

these use to be a lot cheaper

there's at least two brands… the other name escapes me but they should all work the same

they arent bad especially if you tow

  • How hard is this to install. I have a VW

    • Depends how hard it is to access the throttle plug. If you can uplug the plug, the rest is easy..

    My take -
I use one of these as it allows me to add an electronic hand throttle easily and easy to remove when i swap cars .(just unplug and back to oem)
Economy mode adds 9 modes of laggy, ultimate mode adds 9 levels of too touchy. Adapt mode seems pretty random to me.
Interesting to play with as you can cycle through while driving…
Nothing you can't do with your foot.

Check you're buying the right model for your car, the link is to a specific model. Most of the $160 ones are for European cars, a lot of the more common models are $210

This, I bought the wrong one from Autobarn. Was an easy swap, but still annoying. It isn't a "One Model Fits All". Its the same CORE unit, just each "model" has a unique cable for your car.

If you have a new car or are still under manufacturer warranty you can say goodbye to it if you happen to have something go wrong, the same for your insurance. There was a guy recently that Ford denied a gearbox replacement to for using one of these. The same goes for your car insurance.

And before anyone says “I’ll just remove it before service” they can see you been using one when they plug in. And if you had an accident, well then it’s too late and your insurance is done.

Buy at your own risk is all I’m saying, If you have an older car go for it but it doesn’t give your car more power.

    Otherwise FAFO I guess.

How could they tell if you used one? All it does is modify the amount of pedal throw being sent to the ecu.

Ozbargain tip: put your foot down further than you normally would and save yourself the $159.

      • he's implying some ECUs can record if the signal has been modified or intercepted or interfered with… my specialities is Nissan and their ECUs can apparently but those dudes will not deep dive into your ECU unless you give them reason

also my nissan is out of warranty

South Morang Motor Group have a big sign at the service department offering iDrive throttle controllers for their customer.

The sales rep from my local ford dealer recommended me to get one! Apparently it doesn't void the warranty (his words).

    • Insurance companies don't scan your ECU for modifications.

      • ECU isn't being modified.

  • These things are a gimmick

I have installed them on a Prado 120 and a Pathfinder R52 and they work 100% as advertised not a gimmick!

Love mine, on a VE SS V8 commodore. People saying just put your foot down or a gimmick have no idea how it works.

    • i immediately know people who say that kind of thing are absolute idiots

      they work as described

I find these useful taming down the throttle response in 4WD on soft sand using setting EC4

    • Exactly what I was going to comment on too

Installed in my Ranger and economy mode is great for offroad/sand

You have used one or just trolling?

      • Mates had them, they got rid of them and can void warranty.

I would be finding new mates. Take it off before the service if you think they void warranty.

  • I really rate my idrive, helped so much with triton

  • Bought an EVC X for my Ford Ranger…. AMAZING! Taken the sluggish response out of the performance. Well worth buying one of these if you have sluggish performance or using your car around town needing a bit more response.

  • For 160$, can you just press throttle harder? As far as i read these things just amplify the signal from pedal

From my experience - it totally removes the lag when accelerating from a Prado 120 diesel and with a petrol engine car it becomes super responsive when set on AC or U9 mode.

    • +2

Yes. It's all it's doing. Modifying the throttle position
It gives the impression of increased performance but put it on a dyno and there's no difference.i bought one because the lag on my Triton ute was pretty bad. But this didn't help.
The turbo lag will always be there. This just made the vehicle accelerate faster or slower once the turbo spooled up.
It actually made it pretty awful to drive.

I agree that it makes your vehicle feel faster and if that makes you happy, great.

  • I got an idrive throttle controller fitted to my BT50, but I'm not using it now because of potential warranty issues.
