100

Simply use 60,000 Qantas Points or spend $500 in a single transaction storewide at Qantas Marketplace by 14 September 2023, and you'll be eligible to receive a $50 Qantas Marketplace voucher, redeemable on your choice of a $50 digital gift card.

Won't be using 60,000 Points but perhaps if you can spend $500 on a WISH card, in order to get a bonus $50 digital gift card then this deal may be worthwhile? Effectively 10% discount.

Choose from a range of brands including Apple, WISH, The Card Network, and more. Vouchers will be emailed to qualifying members by 30 October 2023.

Points Club Members save an extra 5% off points, and until September 30, earn 3 bonus points per $1.

Update: A few days ago you could purchase gift cards using $ on the Qantas Marketplace website, looks like this has now been fixed. Now the only option is with points, which is not good value.

Flew QF12 from LAX-SYD a few days back in First.
Fantastic experience, great crew, great food and a fantastic seat for the 15 hour hop back to Sydney. Good connection facilities in Sydney and was in the Dom J lounge in an hour.

I buy Flex Tickets and have always gotten a refund back to my card in 7 days when cancelling more than 24 hours from departure . Read the fare class terms before buying. For any airline.
The FF program is fantastic, P1 (ex CL) and LTG - always getting the personal touches and benefits for when not flying in a premium cabin. The Premium service center in Hobart is great and experienced.
I can request any sale fare to be turned into Classic Reward. Even in Business and First.

The Qantas hate is interesting, they took JobKeeper benefits under the assumption that they weren't needed to be paid back. And all of the sudden, special rules apply to Qantas even though that banks that made 150bn combined dont need to pay back JobKeeper? From a travelers perspective, especially from the premium Corporate Traveller end - for us its the same story, great.

        Thanks for sharing Ms Hudson.

If I was Ms Hudson, I would have regained my CL status ;)

But hey, seems like the cool thing to do is to hate on Qantas these days

          • @AircraftFreight: Oddly enough, a P1's experience with (and therefore view of) QF is completely different to the vast majority, so maybe that is why everyone else is 'hating on' them while you are singing their praises?

            • -1

@djkelly69: Its paints a more realistic picture from mid-high tier FFs, the people who actually use the airline on a regular basis for travel.
This year, I have had maybe 2-3 FAs out of hundreds that were rude. All of them were from QF UK which I have always not liked. Sure, I have had operational downgrades for pilots and cabin crew/QF executives and thats fine by me - because A) I dont pay for my flights B) I get point compensation and a fare difference for our travel budget.
Instead of a one way image presented by the media who are using QF to get more clicks.

@AircraftFreight: Regardless of whether or not other companies have done the same thing:

                • Overpaid CEO
                • Letting people book flights that are destined to be cancelled
                • Keeping money to add to profits instead of returning to the community that needs it
                • Fleet that's getting old in the tooth
                • Moving maintenance jobs overseas (for profit reasons)
                • Anti competitive behavior of keeping Qatar from expanding (leading to a bit of a monopoly and higher prices)
                • Sacked many people during Covid (whilst getting money from the government)

I reached Platinum just before Covid hit, and the staff were always really great. But the management and company leaves a lot to be desired. It's not about how the media portrays the situation, it's the fact that they're racking record profits while customers are getting shafted with record prices.

      • Mate, Qantas got over five billion i government handouts during Alan Joyce’s reign and the company never paid tax and was left in a worse state then before his tenure, while he was Australias highest paid CEO.

The board and current management were there for the duration and are all responsible for it.

        • Never paid tax? They just paid $750m in Corporate Tax to the ATO 2 weeks ago???
          Look at their financial report…
$2.7bn to be precise, not "over 5bn" lol
Virgin Australia was given $1.4bn and another 600m in bailout money - and 500m of debt owed to state governments???

Mind you, this was out of 291bn distributed by the Morrison Government - the banking sector got 7bn total and they made 150bn total this year?

10% back on a wish gift card is actually not a bad deal?

    • You cant buy gift cards with money only points and its a very poor less than half a cent per point redemption rate so even with the 10% its a bad deal

  • +6

All these sudden Qantas deals have a wiff of desperation about them…

  • is there an option to pay cash for Gift cards? The only option I'm seeing is to pay via points.

    • +3

There was an option to pay for WISH physical gift cards and Woolworths Supermarket physical gift cards with cash (or points + cash) on the Qantas Marketplace a few days ago, but it looks like that has been removed.

It is almost always unheard of to pay for gift cards on the Qantas Marketplace using cash, so the fact that you could do that a few days ago was almost likely an error on Qantas' part when those two gift cards were added to Qantas Marketplace recently.

      • I saw this on Facebook and a few people taking advantage of it, looks like Qantas plugged that hole quick :(

  • You cant, you would need to buy the points starting at $56 for 1000 points LOL
    https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/my-account/point…

Price to buy enough points for $500 in wish gift cards is around $3000 but hey you get a bonus $50 gift card 😉
