Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including June 30 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" " or "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong. Possible fraud scenario: API returns during purchase - credit to @himalpatel. Live chat advised that if you faced the above fraud scenario message, you need to use your friends details (aka a completely different details) to order
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

@nsingh21: Agree but in the past, cashback has been increased in the last day coming up to expiry.

It didn’t work for my wife but worked for me. The difference is I have a boost (Telstra) ID while my wife doesn’t. Maybe this info helps someone.

    • So you can get a boost if you already have a boost? This seems a little circular…

    • Pretty sure you didn't a boost ID when you had your first boost?

      • +1

I already had a Telstra ID.

Just be aware boost are sneaky pri3ks. You need to port out or cancel the service before they renew/charge u for next month ($25$). They not like Kogan or Catch where you can “opt out” of auto renewal. Boost don’t have such a thing, they make plenty of money from people forgetting.

    • +10

Not true, it's right there in the app, auto recharge: off

    • +2

hey mate, just for next time, when it asks for your card details to charge you monthly AFTER you buy the sim, you should probably not tick that option!

    • +3

Auto recharge has been disabled by default on the activation page. Not sure what you are talking about?

    • +1

Sounds like you did this to yourself good sir, unlucky, but this ain't Boost at fault here.

  • -2

they want me to waste an hr to register and will pay me $1?

    • +2

it takes about 2 minutes to order

      • may anyone help me order a sim PLEASE? in NSW Cemorne area or Blacktown NSW area. We can set up account and change to my credit card details together. i am getting crazy….. but my Kogan sim expired i need to port out my number ASAP.

    • +1

      You forgot the 65GB

      • -2

        not worth it man

they’re just banking on ppl being too lazy to switch, going to get fleeced and have to waste more time changing providers

  • +1

Same name/address/credit card info which has been successful in the past 5 months, all of a sudden the error msg kicked in. Now I can't order and can't activate anymore. Activate I can still reach out to Boost support but order seems no solution.
Try to change name/address/card and still no success. I don't wanna use different IP/device as I will risk tracking failure from CR

    • yeah my cashback didn't track last time (did everything through CR app) and had to manually submit everything, such a pain in the ass

    • thanks, this explains why i kept getting error messages

  • +1

Also can't buy since a couple of months ago

  • Been getting crappy network and really slow 4g internet…
Wondering what is wrong with boost, been quite good in the past or maybe these sort of sims are given lower priority networks.

    • Maybe the telstra network has become more congested in your area… These sims have the same priority on the network as Telstra prepaid to my knowledge…

    • yup experienced the same :( still alright to use but video chat is affected.

      • -1

Yup, been saying this happens to me years ago in some areas at certain times,

        most won't believe me here.

    • 10 000 Ozbargain sims in your area all downloading flat out!

  • How long does it take to track?

  • +1

For those that got "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" error, try disabling VPN, that seemed to be stopping transactions for me

    • +2

not using VPN but still geting errors

  • cant activate for a whole week, I will pass this

  • +4

    "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG"

Aside from us ozbargainers, wouldn't this error impact normal customers? I wonder if this will impact their profit.

    • +1

Same here. Tried all different details and cards, even using my Boost data connection rather than Wi-Fi. All through the Cashrewards app.

    • +2

I asked by brother who doesn't live with me and has never used Boost before to order one. He also got "Sorry, Something Went Wrong"

      • Did he use your:
        - browser
        - device
        - ip address
        - name/phone #/email
        - delivery or billing address
        - card/payment details
        - CR account

        • other than a CR account, everything was different and still couldn't get thru…go figure!

it must be something to do between CR & Boost!
not going to buy one without CR!

        • +2

          no. everything is different.

          • +1

@mike0mike0: I have tried so many different combinations (browsers, VPNs, Mobile) keep getting the error.

  • +1

I have tried live chat twice but still no use. Still getting the same error. Come on man

  • -2

so worth my time to do the port in port out dance that some Oz Bargainers seem to love, for a $1….$1

ive said it before, i worry that if you posted there was $2 coin in an almost entirely burning building, someone on here would turn up to try and score it…

I dont get some people….so desperate

    • I use it for free sign up offers

    • How much were you paid to post that? Nothing? Wow - how desperate are you for attention?

  • It looks like Boost have extend the sale to 19th September

    • +1

It is 19 Sep at the beginning.

These posts make you feel ending soon and you should buy it now.

    • +1

Yeah its been until the 19th since before this post. I've had my eye on it for a few days (was $17 cashback until yesterday) for my next data sim but waiting a few more days in anticipation of higher offers

  • +1

Tried activating one of the sim’s this morning. I kept getting an error on the laptop saying “Something went wrong, unable to activate sim”.
Interestingly enough, I tried the same on my mobile and worked like a charm.
Putting this here for anyone else in the same boat !

    • Are you using boost data to active?

      • +1

Activated using wifi - no boost data.

  • +1

65GB on first 3 recharges for new customers. 35GB on 4th recharge. Recharge by 25 Sept 23 and 3rd recharge by 27 Nov 23.

Does this mean we have to activate by 25 Sept to get 65GB on the activation of the SIM?
Or does it just mean that the final (3rd) recharge should be by 27 Nov to be able to get 65GB by the 3rd recharge? A bit confusing there.

    • +1

Data bonus is everyday deal actually.

I still get bonus data on old SIM SPs upon activation.

      • Ah, thanks mate.
So all good even if I activate after 25 Sept, but within 30 days of ordering.

        • was wondering the same thing so good to know

  • +1

Has anyone actually been able to buy one?

    • +1

I keep getting the error message when I click submit after entering all my details. Live chat just said that the website is busy and that's why. I've tried like 10 times…. lol

  • Is someone brave enough to try without Cashrewards :)

    • I've tried that too. Am giving up now. I mean if their systems suck this much, maybe it isn't a good mobile provider?

  • +1

    $1 profit is back
