JEYI NVMe M.2 SSD Enclosure 10Gbps USB-C US$9.93 (~A$15.42) Delivered @ Factory Direct Collected Store AliExpress

Until a mod updates the link, use this one to get the discounted price.

I got a dual protocol enclosure from this brand a while back and the quality is fantastic; it's small, well made and fits together nicely. The SSD is held in place by the lid (there's a notch in the case and post on the lid for proper support), while this makes installation a little fiddly it does simplify things and keeps the size down. The lid is 1.5mm thick and quite sturdy, it provides the bulk of the cooling and has proper contact since there's no sliding mechanism. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a thermal pad placed between the chipset and case upon removing the PCB.

Includes a USB-C to C and USB-C to A cable, JMS583 chipset.

One per customer, AUD is googled so expect your bank to be a little different.

The SATA version is a little cheaper at US$8.42(~A$13.07) and is available on the same page. Please note it only includes a USB-C to A cable.

  • And so what sort of transfer speed would I expect out of this? And what is a cheap 1tb ssd to go in this?

    • what sort of transfer speed

10GBps but some people around here only love to click the neg button without offering any contribution to the forums.
Regarding the cheap SSD I would refrain to that choice unless you don't mind to lose your backup.

  • Link takes me to an item showing $A9.90 before tax, is this the correct item? The i9-explorer?

  • I have a few of the similar ones from JEYI and with thermal pads making conduct on both sides the temp never exceeds 37 degrees under heavy load.

Does anyone know which version of the JMS583 these have? Apparently the older ones are unstable: https://www.legitreviews.com/jmicron-jms583-controller-versi…

The chip hasn't changed but there were most likely firmware updates, I can check mine once it arrives but otherwise it's unknown.

My RTL9210B JEYI enclosure was on the latest firmware, that might be a good sign.

Edit: I just skimmed that article and it looks like there were revisions, I can report back on that too.

      Chip is revision A3.

Firmware is 00.02.01.02, which is a bit older than the (I think) newest 00.02.01.04.

  • Managed to get this for $14.48 shipped about 2 weeks ago and it's been doing the job for my sn750 now that it's been retired out of my pc.
