Bought a few days ago, happy with it!
Registered serial online for 3 year warranty (total) from Esatto

  • +2

I’ve had this machine for approximately 2 years. No issues at all. Definitely worth it.

    • +1

how long does a full load take to dry?

      • +2

        About 3 hours…

      • +3

I have the 7kg version and takes between 40-80mins depends on fabric and load.

      • +2

Between 2-3 hours depending on your load.

      • +1

        About 1.5-2h depending on load

      • +3

About 1-2 loads depending on the hour

      • About 1-2 loads in the hour

      • +1

I have a heat pump dryer (not this one) and mine says a load will take 3 hours, but it always only takes just over an hour.

I think the key thing is to make sure you have a washing machine with a high spin speed ( 1400 or 1600 rpm). This gets most of the water out before you use the dryer and considerably shortens the drying time.

        • Thanks mate, defs good to consider moving forward!

        • +1

Or you can just use the spin mode on your washing machine. Mine only goes up to 1000rpm. Generally do a 10 min spin drain after the wash and does the job.

      • Forever.

But its awesome, just have to be patient.

  • +2

Delivery only available to Sydney Metro and Melbourne Metro.

    • +1

$520 at bunnings if u Find stock stock as Bunnings beat eBay by 10% as they beat eBay prices … we’ll they doo for me any time iv asked

  • Great dryer. Have had for about a year and it’s the best thing I’ve bought in a long time.

  • +2

Bah, won’t deliver to Perth, WA :(

    • +6

      Nor to Afghanistan, damn.

      • Damn it. Deal breaker

      • Just get it from Amazon AF

  • +1

Does this do well if used in a sheltered verandah outside? It does get dusty.

    • +1

Dusty isn't ideal for any appliance, but should work. There may be issues if you try to run it and it is below -0c overnight, but otherwise I think it should be okay.

    • +2

I ran the prior 7kg version for 6 months in an undercover area out the back and just dusted or hit it with the leave blower every now and then. I've had it back inside for 9 months now and I still have to dust it off occasionally…

      • do you think it would help the dust problem if we built cabinetry like a laundry room, outside?

        • +1

Other people in the complex I was in did have cabinetry built into the undercover areas so they could move the laundry utilities outside permanently. I think it's a good option!

    • We put our heat pump and washer side by side in the garage/shed. Then built an enclosure around it with pool noodles to help with the vibrations. It does get dusty but usually have my blower or a rag to wipe away the dust

  • +2

Would this item qualify for QLD appliance rebate ?

    • +4

      yes

      • nice. My wife has said no thanks to a dryer for years, but since gov is going halvsies, the ozbargainer spirit kicked in

  • +1

Not affiliated, but bought couple years back at similar price and hasn’t skipped a beat.

  • +5
    • $300 off in Qld with the rebate, bargains on bargains!
    • +3

No delivery to QLD though, damnnnnnn

        • +1

it's only because it out of stock in QLD, there was stock a few days ago

          • +2

@leeroys_dad: 2 in stock in QLD warehouse, but only available through their website. ($627 delivered)

            https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/esatto-8kg-heat-…

            • +2

@HomeAlone: *1 in stock now, I caved and bought it because of the rebate. Thanks for the info everyone!

            • +1

              @HomeAlone:

Both gone now. No stock left in QLD.

              • @HomeAlone: Sign up to AO marketing emails for $20 voucher (min. spend $200). I just placed an order with AO directly for $607. Only downside is that delivery date is in last week of October

                • @Danger: Does this mean I have to wait for delivery before applying for rebate? Bit confused about this.

                  • @NevC: Yes and no. Yes, if you want to wait for Tax Invoice to claim the rebate. They give you tax invoice upon delivery. I'm considering to apply before the delivery using the order confirmation and my credit card statement. Hopefully that would be enough. If not, I'll wait for tax invoice to attempt again.

                    • @Danger: I'm worried they will run out of rebate money before this -

                      Applications must:

be submitted in the name of 1 person
be made within 30 days of the eligible appliance being purchased and installed (whichever comes later).

                      • @NevC: Good point..I'll follow up with Appliance Online and also check with QLD rebate team to see what's the best way out of this situation.

                        • @Danger: Thanks for that. Now thinking of getting the 7KG. More expensive but in stock. Can't afford to stuff this up.

              • @HomeAlone: must be more. I just bought one (on website)

                • +1

@SlickMick: Those would likely be backorder for delivery late October.

The 2 units available at QLD warehouse (Hemmant) at the time of my original comment were available for immediate delivery this week.

                  • @HomeAlone: ah you're right. Gave me choice of delivery dates late October.
Dang won't I get a tax invoice until then? :(

                    • +1

@SlickMick: I submitted my esatto claim with gov using the receipt AO emailed, all before delivery. Just submit it

                      • @leeroys_dad: hmm won't accept unless I tick "I have taken possession of the appliance". The order (only document I have) indicates "Requested delivery date: Tue 24th Oct 2023"

                        • +1

@SlickMick: Give it a tick. Someone mentioned on an earlier page that the declaration is for HWS only? There's nothing to say you didn't call up to request an earlier date, or that stock came in earlier

                          • @leeroys_dad: Thanks. I used the paypal receipt - seemed more appropriate than the emailed sales order from appliances online - and no reference to a delivery date

  • +4

Uses about a third of the power consumption of a normal vented dryer but takes also three times as long

Does this mean it uses the same amount of electricity to dry a load of clothes, or do you mean even if it takes three times as long, it still uses a third of the power?

    • +7

It uses much less even though the cycles are longer. The magic of heat pump tech.

  • +1

Bought mine for $580 3.5 years ago and has been solid. Just make sure you keep the lint filter and heat exchange element clean. Ours dropped in performance significantly but bounced right back after cleaning the heating element exchange unit.

    • wheres the heating element exchange?

      • +1

On the left-hand side of the front panel. Easy access, takes a minute or two to clean

      • +1

Bottom left corner, take out the lint filter and it's in behind there. You can get filament brushes if you want to be fancy, or use a portable vacuum.

        • +1

I just used an old toothbrush.

  • +2

I had one for like 5 years. I didn't realise how bad it is until I got a new Samsung dryer and their after sales support aside, it runs like a beast. It is 2x the cost of this though.

I find the esatto doesn't dry as well most of the time which sucks when you leave it running and you're not home to check when it finishes. Could work for some people but probably would pay more to get a better one.

    • +1

Interesting observation, I think this may be the first dryer for most and they don't have a yardstick to compare to

      • +1

Probably true, this is my first dryer. I only have issues when drying quilt covers where I have to stop a few times and untangle clothes.

        • +1

Try putting a couple of tennis balls in, it has a decent success rate of stopping the tangling. Alternatively throw a large towel in as well (can be clean/dry) which I've found as it is fuller it can help stop things tangling.

It's fairly common to dryers in general I think, not just Esatto. Some fancier ones will do different things to try and prevent tangling I guess but is that worth double the cost?

          • +1

@Tnetennba: The tennis ball trick works a charm, especially with sheets.

Aldi currently has some wool laundry balls with smiley and animal faces on them if tennis balls are too boring.

  • Can anyone recommend a mat for this? The one that sits between the washer and dryer when stacked?

  • How easy is it to clean the lint filter? My current one requires a bit of disassembly and scraping/vacuuming. Not ideal.

    • +2

I had one for just under a year and cleaned it once. The lint filter is located just at the door (like any dryer). Thats the one you will need to clear out every cycle. But there is another area at the front (just below the door) and is closed by a hatch. This one you will need to clean maybe once a year or as often as once a quarter depending on how you use the appliance. It is easy to open. However if there are lint/dust between the cooling fins, you will need a vacuum cleaner to suck it all out. I think the difficulty is about 3/10 so its not too difficult with the right tool. If you're using a damp cloth to clean, then it'll get messy as with anything dust related.

  • I had one and was glad when it died to be honest. Took so so long (5 hours, sometimes needed to be repeated). Back to using a vented dryer and it is so much faster (like an hour or so).

  • +2

Reckon you must be overloading it with 10kg+ of wet clothes to make it run for 5 hours. Takes 2h on average for me (5-8kg), perfect heat pump dryer.

I have the water outlet go straight into the drain pipe so just clean the lint filter once every 3 months and it's fine.

Cheap and effective, can't ask for more, unless you need a bigger unit.

    • Yup I think people are misusing these or its faulty.

I had an old vent dryer and swapped to this and have only noticed a small increase in time, and thats mostly on items such as towels.

Its possible heat pump dryers aren't as good with completely soaking items I wouldn't know…. I use a spin cycle washing machine like I assume most people do.

  • +1

Does it have a delayed start?

  • I have one HAD been great!!, 6 months in and the belt snapped. Esatto was quick to get a resolution for me, waiting for my replacement dryer.

  • +1

How do you go about stacking this on top of a different brand (Samsung) washer? Never had a dryer before so kind of new to this

    • +1

Pick it up with assistance as it's like 50kg and put it on top. You can put some non-slip mat between if you want.

      • In between washing machine and dryer I put:
Non slip mat, then chipboard on top of the mat, then on that I screwed 3d printed dryer feet with nonslip mat. Won't go anywhere! Cost $10
I felt that putting the 4 feet on top of the washing machine was too direct so I chose to spread the load with the chipboard & nonslip mat

  • This works great. However, I find that its auto mode still leaves some clothes wet so I have been using Cotton - Extra mode.

  • Have had this for 2 years and hasn't missed a beat. It does take time to dry but I'm hoping that means less damage on my clothes as I've put stuff that are "no dryer" and it comes up fine..

I always throw it in with a large dry towel to assist the speed in making it dry

Maintenance is just cleaning the lint filter.

    • +1

How does adding more assist in drying, as opposed to direct contact to the air

      • I imagine it evens out the wetness over a larger surface area so the air can dry faster.

        • +1

How do you figure that, it's hot dry air on the wet surface vs hot dry air on the non wet surface. How does the second item improve drying time as compared to direct transfer.
Further if I have a single wet towel and place 9 other totally dry towels while still allowing sufficient space for heat transfer, would it dry the wet one faster? How? You are now heating up 9x the material.

          • @mrkorrupt: think of it this way, if you put a sheet thats been scrunched up into a ball into the dryer, it take a long time to dry.

If you unfold it, it will dry a lot faster.

I'm not saying its perfect logic but I do think extra surface area = faster drying.

          • @mrkorrupt: https://www.homesandgardens.com/life-design/do-clothes-dry-f…

Shrugs, read it once on the news and seemed to make it quicker for us too. YMMV but it's an easy experiment to try..report back your findings haha

            • @EnergicAU: From your link
"An added dry towel absorbs moisture from the wet clothes, which reduces the amount of water that the dryer has to remove"

The amount of water is the same and unless the towel is drenched then putting a damp towel on a dry towel isn't going to drastically alter the ratio. Think of this logically, weigh two dry towel and wash one. place damp towel out of the washing machine and lay it flat on the cement, lay dry towel top for maximum contact, walk all over it, see how each differs in weight to original

              • @mrkorrupt: Yes but I guess using your example, the more surface area there is, the quicker it will evaporate?

Eg, a full glass of water on your cement vs the same amount of water spread all over the cement. I may be corrected but I would assume the water spread out over the cement would dry quicker than a glass full of water.

So my non scientific opinion is that I assume the towel will absorb the water within the dryer and increase the surface area of items and lessen the load needed to dry …?

  • I have this and had a vented dryer, the vented dryer took 2-3 hours, this take 2.5 / 3.5 hours

  • Why no regional delivery via ebay, when they do offer regional via their website?

  • Bought one from Bunnings recently. Mixed thought on its performance as I found the auto sensor to be unreliable. I had to run the drying cycle more than once as the clothes still felt slightly damp.
The unit did not come with a lint filter at the bottom, just a removable cover plate. Also the unit leaked from the bottom, checked that the unit is level using a spirit level. It has leaked twice in the two months I've had it. Its ok for the price you pay, compromises must be made at the price point.

    • -1

It doesn't sound like your unit is the same unit that is posted…

The Essato comes with a lint filter and the water is stored at the top.

    • I too feel like a part maybe missing on my Esatto. Just the removable plate on the bottom left but no actual protective mesh/filter between the removable plate and the metal fins.

  • It is good but doesn't have auto mode. I have to keep choosing the kinds of garments going in.

  • Bang for your bucks! I've been using this for a couple of years. Gentle on the power bills, does the job very well. No complaints.

  • dumb question but if this takes less power but 3 times the duration to dry as the ones that use more power and are quicker, doesn't it make zero difference? ie wouldnt you buy the faster drying one?

    • -1

Nope. It operates at a lower temperature is the only reason it takes longer (this has the side benefit that it is much gentler on clothes, especially synthetics). If you don't overload it it only takes a little longer. As they draw only a small fraction of the power of a 2.4kW vented dryer the total electricity used is MUCH less than a vented dryer.

  • No delivery to Chad 🙁

  • +1

Don't understand the peeps whining about the time they take. Do you pull up a chair and watch it?
