Carlton v Brisbane Preliminary Final - Melb>Bris Flights

Melb>Bris flights have obviously skyrocketed due to increased demand - i've looked at every combination of multi-city flights and am struggling to find a flight anywhere near normal prices.

Any innovative travel ideas out there that could get me in and out of Brisbane this weekend? The 18hr drive is currently the best option i've got.

I looked at traveling interstate for finals a couple years ago and the train was surprisingly cheap.

Listening to the ABC in Brisbane this afternoon, it was pointed out that Bonza fly Sunshine Coast to Avalon for around $100…

Ended up going with Bonza Melbourne to Toowoomba - $120! Thanks for the tip!

      • Excellent! Have a great time.

      • Should be an interesting trip to get down the range. If you go back up after the game then car hire might be the way to go.

      • I'm doing the same thing, see you on the flight hahah. after checking several options this was by far the cheapest.

Originally booked the greyhound bus from Toowoomba to Brisbane because that was only $30 or something but because i am flying back from Gold Coast i decided hiring a car would be more economical. By the time i mucked around with ubers/trains etc it wasnt worth it

at the time i booked the flight back from the gold coast was $350 but had $129 virgin credit to use from a credit card so that came in pretty handy.

Hotel on the other hand was a nightmare and got super lucky with a place about 20min drive from the ground, i keep checking just in case can find something closer but no luck so far, or they are random booking websites where it says its available the it isnt.

Where did you end up booking to stay

Don't forget you get free public transport to and from the game. Husband prefers the bus as they just keep coming. If you get the train they use the regular schedule, so if you miss one it is another half an hour until the next. Unless of course, that was the last one scheduled…

  • if a senior or pensioner, try booking thru nsw trainlink, for xpt to sydney and xpt to brisbane
or otherwise book a 2 week discovery pass thru nsw trainlink

  • Did you try MEL/OOL? Nope, I can now see it's not much cheaper.

  • Ah would love to buy a ticket to that game but I couldn't.

Will hold out for a ticket to the GF the following week when/if Carlton lose. I did already notice Bonza from TWB-MEL on GF day is $120.

  • I'm happy because I managed to win two tickets to the game for my husband!

  • Just wanted to ask how the Bonza flights were?

No issues with the flights, departed and arrived on time. the only issue and no fault of Bonza, when landing in Toowoomba with 50-60 other footy fans on the flight there were no taxis available on arrival and was a bit of a challenge to get some organised.

Agree with Schumi - Bonza service was excellent and i'll definitely be flying with them again!
