Asus ROG Azoth Hot-swap wireless mechanical keyboard with Red (OOS), Blue or Brown switches is currently at $299 at Centrecom. Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx.

Brown switch: https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-rog-m701-azoth-mechanical-…
Blue Switch: https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-rog-m701-azoth-mechanical-…

Switches are pre-lubed, but LEDs are north-facing so will need long pole switches if you want to swap.

Wasn't close to worth it at RRP, but $299 for a hot-swap, tri-mode (2.4G, BT and wired) keyboard with no need to muck around with QMK/VIA for customisation is a good-ish deal. The OLED screen is a handy one if you like it.

For comparison, Keychron Q1 Pro is $319 but only has BT with 90Hz polling rate for wireless. Monsgeek M1W is much cheaper but wireless performance with the dongle is quite janky according to reviews.

Mydeal only has blue left now, and want $16.67 delivery to Melbourne

    • "then further 100 from tax return" how does this work?

      • work related tax deductions

        • do you say it's for work from home, and 100% used for work?

          • +1

@xrailgun: Doesn't have to be; you can claim it to be a work-related item (e.g. the keyboard goes to the office in your bag for use at a hot desk)

  • Thanks OP - been waiting for these for a while :)

    Thats a good looking keyboard.
Sadly have too many keyboards already, must resist.

Also seem to be avalible at PCCG and PLE @299

Would prefer not to shop at centrecon if I can avoid it.

    Thanks for the find OP!

    • Whats wrong with Centrecom?

      • They've cancelled a number of orders in the past when they've sold a lot, citing price errors

  • Thanks, OP going to get one.

Any alternative keyboards to this? i.e. 2.4Ghz and hot-swappable/moddable

  • +1

Hot swap keyboards and 7.1 RGB headphone stands. What a time to be alive :-D

OP might want to add in that there is also a $50AUD e-gift card promotion from Asus that you can claim for the keyboard purchased between 22 September to 29 October 2023.

Got JB to price match for $299, good to stack with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800798 15% off gift card and bring the total to $254.15 ඞ…

  • Been using this keyboard as my main, great and all that, but the software is so bad, and it will render the LED screen useless if say you want to display info instead of an animation. The time, for instance, will not update at times because Asus services will not start. It's a headache.

    • Yeah I've heard Armoury Crate is a bit of a turd

      • Yep absolute rubbish of a software, and I thought Razer ones were bad

        • +1

I've been trying out VIA with my Keychron Q6…not half bad but complex macros aren't easy and learning string codes is annoying

Logitech Gaming Software with my old G910 Orion Spectrum was bloated but worked well

I purchased this last night (blue switches), been wanting it for a while but not for the full price, handy to get that $50GC too made the deal even better

Damn this is a great deal.

It's the only "practically wired" wireless keyboard I've found. Wireless performs the same as wired, and I've never charged it since I got it in May and the battery is still >40%. BT switches faster than you can replace your right hand, so you can easily switch between laptop and PC.

I highly recommend getting 2 packs of Akko CS silvers. They're far better than the stock switches which are pretty poorly lubed.

If you are considering this for gaming performance, keyboard offerings have changed a lot since Razer and Steelseries recently added 'Rapidfire' functionality to their analog keyboards. I've owned the steelseries Apex before and while it sounds and feels like a $30 keyboard, getting Rapidfire for $180-250 is a clear differentiating feature. The Apex also comes in TKL while the Wooting only has 60% and costs over $300.

The Azoth is in between two worlds. It's basically a nicer feeling gaming keyboard with wireless that works like wired. It doesn't feel as good as those custom luxury keyboards and it doesn't have the performance features of the Apex Pro, 60HE, and Huntsman V2 Analog. I also hate the Default delete key location compared to this 75% layout.

  • Alright,

These promo's annoy the living daylights out of me……

I've been considering buying one of these for quite some time, (since I saw the Computex highlights).

Have been using ROG's Claymore 2 for the last year or so, and have found it to be an absolute behemoth to use. Takes up too much space.
My fingers sometimes miss the intended key and I end up hitting the one next to it. Don't get me wrong, its a pretty damn sensational keyboard if you're using it solely for gaming and a bit of typing. It has stacks of features, but I now know that something smaller would be much better.

Furthermore, the modular, hot swap numpad is dodgy AF in terms of how it operates.

It kinda reminds me of a dislocated limb that only feels ok when balanced perfectly at one very particular angle.🤣

I will leave my biggest gripe about the Claymore 2 until the end and tell you why these promos annoy me, and what (if any) suggestions you guys/gals have.

I noticed that the Azoth has been on sale since the beginning of September, (pretty much), at a variety of etailers.

I ummed and ahhhed about it, decided not to buy it purely because I didn't (need need) it, then, after I shot an email to our HR guy, and he told me that I had more than enough remaining in my "Personal Tech" allowance at work to purchase it, I bought the gosh darned thing!

    From………. Scorptec

Centrecom DID NOT have this promotion displayed on their website when I purchased it last Tuesday 26th September. I visit their site frequently and even if it was there, I wouldnt have sat around and waited for the promo banner to change because I was checking which Azoth models they had! Furthermore, I wanted the red switches, as they are quieter than the brown's and blue's, but CC was sold out.

Scorptec had the reds available, so I bought it from them.

I have received it, but haven't even touched it yet. So, it is in the newest condition possible.

Am simultaneously sending an email to Asus promo team to ask if promo is good if same keeb purchased from Scorptec, (quite confident the answer is yes as I've read the t's & c's and here states the following under "How to Enter":

"1. Purchase an ROG Azoth, ROG Keris Wireless AimPoint, TUF Gaming H1 Wireless or TUF Gaming H1 during the promotion period from an authorized and participating ASUS retailer/reseller within Australia to be eligible to register for the promotion."

Fairly sure Scorptec are included as the official Asus promotion page mentions them under "Where to buy".

Anyway, I assume that CC will re-up their stock at some point, and the reds will become available again.

    What do you guys think?

Worst comes to worst, I was basically given the Azoth for nothing anyway, so in the end that mindset may have to prevail.

Plus, Asus promotions team take forever to get their act together. Took part in their GPU holder promo last yr (The WORST piece of trash ever made by ROG), and it took 2 months to arrive.

I'm also unsure why this deal says EXPIRED, because the eligible purchase period runs from Sep 22 - Oct 29 and it's on sale until 30/10.

    So,

Back to my gripe re ROG Claymore 2 keeb.

You have to be EXTREMELY careful if/when replacing stock rubbish plastic ABS keycaps with the ROG double-shot PBT set.
It's those stupid proprietary switches that accept each keycap via 4 microscopic cylindrical shaped holes.
Accidentally remove a keycap at the wrong angle and one of the 4 plastic poles will break off and get stuck inside 1 (or more) teensy weensy holes inside the switch.

I removed the ABS keycaps after about about 2 months because all the grease shows up and it looks messy.
I left my fair share of plastic inside the switches 😂

Without any obvious removal tool, (which would have come in bloody handy), as I bought the new caps, I came up with the idea to use a spare sim tray opener,
which is literally the same width as a staple. I knew that if I heated the tip to an extremely hot temperature with a jet lighter, (don't use your stove, you will burn yourself), and quickly (but carefully) stuck it inside the hole where one of the stems broke off, I would likely be able to get the stuck bits of plastic to melt around the sim tray thingy, and if I waited a few seconds for it to cool down, I could probably pull it out of the moronically flawed micro orifice (of which there are 4), on each keycap.

After doing this, I planned to attach the PBT set.

My idea worked perfectly, except , (due to lack of surgical experience), I totally melted the switch above the insert key and its absolutely stuffed.

It was such an ordeal to remove all the plastic crap, I literally stuffed it on the last switch and it looks like an eyesore!
