  • Awesome price. I got one for 209 about a month back so this is a great price. Though I did return my keyboard. As one I since learnt I absolutely hate linear / optical switches. I'm a tactile gamer.

Two: because the razer software is crap and meshed without onboard memory on the keyboard the rgb was garbage.

Also you must sign in for it to retain your settings after a device reboot…a joke really.

Outside of this. This was the first razer product that had a good build quality feel that I have used.

    • Thank you for your insight. Which one are you using now? I do prefer tactile but was on the fence for razer

      • Using my old roccat aimo 122. However I would be more limited in my options then you as I only want white keyboards.

I haven't bought as nothing meets my criteria as yet. Waiting on new logitech and corsiar offerings.

Though the corsair k70se seemed to be a good option.

You could also go the custom route if you had the time.

So great price for a shit product? Razer is terrible. I had a razer keyboard (gift) with a built in screen for watching youtube. You had to be logged into the razer software to use that functionality (and other buttons). Ridiculous!

I have the same experience of Razer's software. Synapse 3 is bugged and unfinished.
I lost all my profiles and most of my macros after upgrading my keyboard.
I am now looking at SteelSeries Apex Keyboards.

      • Ya SteelSeries are excellent.

The software isn't perfect but miles better then Razer.

I used to have so many problems with the DeathAdder losing DPI settings. If the screensaver came on or the machine went into any kind of sleep/hibernate state I would lose DPI and it would revert to 800.

Cloud based settings can go to hell.

  • Nice price, but buyer beware. Got one late last year for ~$250 during an eBay sale - wanted low profile/wireless/mechanical and this was one of the few options available at the time. Mine won't charge above 58% and the battery drains within a day or two even when not being used, so I have to use it in wired mode.

Design and build quality is excellent, but I'm still struggling to get used to the feel of the linear switches, it just isn't a satisfying or pleasant typing experience. Will probably be looking to replace in the next 6-12 mths and has kind of put me off mechanical, but there are probably better options out there.

    • Second the battery problems. The keyboard itself was quite good, I came from a G915 and the quality of both are similar. HOWEVER the Razer would drain from 100-0 in a week (with no RGB on) I ended up exchanging it with JB and the second one had the same problem. I ended up returning it and getting another G915 (My original one broke) and I managed to use it from new (Didn't charge it, started on 48%, no RGB) for 3 months before having to charge it.

  • all these cool gaming kb deals dropping round about the time I make an order for a wooting two HE :/

    • +1

OTOH, you will have a Wooting. Still regretting buying my Steelseries instead of this.

      • oh, what's wrong with the steel series? I was tempted to get the steel series hall effect TKL because of the OLED/volume roller/wireless/softer keypress over the wooting green lekker switches

        • +1

Wooting 2 was in pre-production when I was looking.

Went the steelseries at the time because it was available. Got hit by the known issue of blue leds dying over time. Doesn't affect every Steelseries keyboard, but if you are unlucky and get one with the problem, I hope you like red and green (at least 8 of my blues don't work anymore, and if you search on reddit, you'll find that it is a well known problem).

Aside from this, the Apex Pro has been absolutely excellent. But for the same money, I would rather have the Wooting, working LEDs and somewhat better waterproofing.

Now tossing up a side grade to either Wooting HE or Keychron Q6 Pro (optional wireless appeals) and passing the steelseries on to my partner (she will probably turn the leds off altogether).

          • @EthicsGradient: Keychron Q6 pro has a 90Hz poll rate on BT, so not really a gaming board when on BT.

There is a Hall Effect switch Q1 with 2.4G and Bluetooth in development, called the Q1HE.

            • @twister292: It'll be mostly wired for gaming - maybe occasional use as a glorified button box for flight/space/driving sims.

Thanks for the steer on the Q1 - although given that I've hardly used the capability on the Apex Pro, it's not a key factor in my decisions. I'm mostly leaning to the Wooting HE and the Q6 based on reviews as a general purpose keyboard.

              • @EthicsGradient: Can't fault the Q6 I have. Gasket mount is a whole different world over normal gaming boards.

  • I've got the full size version of this. It's pretty great. Only gripe is that the keys are very sensitive and I often press down on a key my fingers are resting on when I touch type

    • I added silicone O rings to my K100 to mitigate this issue when I was new to it (also silenced it a fair bit)

  • Thanks OP, received mine and it's a great keyboard. Surprisingly quiet which is exactly what I was after.
Synapse is a travesty though but think I'll survive.
