      Possibly just a new model.

      There’s talk about a single model that had an attachable disc drive so Sony only needs to manufacture one rather than two devices.

      The leaks show the drive attaches via a face place type slot in, so not external.

        Honestly I just hate the shape of the original anyway and making a miniature version of it then calling it the slim is a lazy decision that took way too long for a 2023/24 release date.
        Only consolation is that my heavily modded ps5 disc with darkplates and rgb strip is still gonna look better than the new slim version they’re releasing, so I guess I won’t have to trade mine in.

      'Couple of years' is a loooong time in tech, expect a PS5 slim or Pro in that timespan.

      I wouldn't expect it much cheaper this year, might get a game thrown in or something.

        Bit out of the loop when it comes to consoles but with the Slim and Pro coming out would the base model be the mid tier between the 3? Price wise, where would it sit between those 3 consoles, and assuming the slim comes out some time soon, would the base model's price decrease?

          The Slim usually just replaces the regular model once stock runs out. The idea is to make it cheaper for Sony to make, maybe cut a few unused features so the price should be lower.

          No idea when new models will come out tbh, it's all rumors.

    It was on sale at Target for $699 just a couple of weeks ago, I had a price match from JB that was expired at midnight, glad did not go ahead.

      Guy I spoke to at EB Games yesterday said they're not even selling it anymore. Having a quick look around it seems as though most retailers also don't stock it anymore. Possibly just quietly discontinued?

    Is it worth getting ? Right now most ps5 is on sale and It feels like the PS5 slim is coming very soon and I don't want to regret buying this than soon after the PS5 slim just got revealed
