Garmin Epix (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition Black Titanium $999 (Was $1699) Delivered @ Garmin

180

Garmin have the put some of their wearables on sale - the epix gen 2 stands out to me. Be aware that a few months ago Garmin released the and updated version of this watch the epix pro (includes in built flash, and updated optical heart rate sensor). Most stores have updated their prices to reflect the sale (Amazon, JB HiFi, Rebel etc.).

Other notable watches on sale include:
Fenix 7 (standard edition) for $799 (Was $1199):

955 Solar is $699 at Rebel Sport

Add in the 15% off ultimate gift cards and that comes down to just under $600.

    • Is the epix much better than the 955?

Sheesh, I just bought one a month ago for full RRP.. dang, either way it's a really, really good watch. I use mine primarily for hiking and fitness, it's great to be able to download routes form AllTrails and add directly to it.

I'm still on the 5X Plus Sapphire because the thing won't frigging break 😆

I do keep looking at these when they come on sale but hard to justify a replacement. The two plus weeks always on I currently get out of a charge is awesome too, and the new AMOLED ones don't get that life unfortunately.

    • That's a good problem to have!

From what I've found online you can probably get 2 weeks out of the 47mm epix if you change the display from always on to gesture activated

Yeah I know; but I'm tech mad (stupid? 😆) so love new things.

I had a Samsung with gesture/motion and while it was a good watch, that feature was just inconsistent enough to be annoying. Always on is now a must for me.

    • I'm on the exact same watch. Super happy with it. Any issues with yours? Mine crashed a month ago (didn't count steps) and ever since it has been super slow to lock in the GPS signal (4-5min). I have now started dreaming of Fenix 7pro, but still super expensive.

I think I had a PC sync issue a few years back - they tech supported it, then replaced it. It was a feature I didn't need but was nice to have, and nice that they replaced it. Think it was close to end of warranty period too. Garmin tech support are fantastic - if you haven't already, I'd contact them, even if it's out of warranty. Certainly part of the reason that I will definitely be getting another Garmin.

My Fenix 6s Sapphire also stopped counting steps a month ago, and the HRM also stopped working. Some of the sensor file veriosn is now at 0.00.0. I contacted Garmin support yesterday and they are offering me a refub 6s for $270 which I took. Maybe thats something to look into.

        • Are you by any chance using "steps to fit" data field? It is the only way I have found to show steps during the workout.
I thought that this data field crashed and started causing issues for me.

While I've moved on to the Epix Gen 2 the Fenix 6X is where the tech sweet spot is and can be had for (relatively) dirt cheap. If you're in the market for a high end sports watch that'll last you years and want an legitimate bargain its hard to go past a well looked after 2nd hand 6X
