  • Any Zsus deal again? I got the 144hz one and was very surprised for what you get.

    • Curious if the Zsus one you have does 120Hz over HDMI?

      • +1

Yes 144hz and HDR enabled on the OSD. 469 nit brightness

        • That’s awesome, cheers 👍🏽

    • Any 4K IPS ones on cheap?

    • Do you have a link to that one?

  • +4

    Any bigger screens for sale?

  • Can you recommend a good touch screen one for Samsung Dex?

    • Does Dex support a touchscreen digitiser as input?

      • Afaik it does with the usb c cable monitors, have not tried it myself yet.

        • +2

I can confirm it works with USB-C connection, whether it is DeX or a Windows laptop. Just HDMI doesn't register touch inputs.

          • @sinusoid: Sorry, do you mean this screen can be used as a touch screen like a tablet? So i could draw on it etc?

            • @rollin: Not this one in particular, no. But there are different listings on AliExpress for touch-enabled models which should work. If you want stylus support, most of these portable monitors probably don't offer it unless it is specifically aimed at artists.

              • @sinusoid: thanks, any recs for a touch screen?

                • +1

@rollin: I've got this one. Very happy with it. 4K OLED touch screen, very bright, excellent build quality, has USB passthrough charging, a USB-A port if you want to connect a mouse, and the kickstand is built-in. The only downside is that the speakers are weak.

                  • +1

                    @sinusoid: thank you v much

                  • @sinusoid: Thanks for that - I am actually in the market looking for basically that exact thing! I was trying to decide between an ipad 9th gen ($370 after all discounts) or something like this ($300 for 13.3" /w touch), but this seems better in many ways. (OLED vs ipad screen, multi OS/input vs lightning), but the ipad has its own battery, is much lighter (490g vs 750g) and can keep being a 2nd screen wirelessly. Yeah, I'm thinking out-loud here a bit, but I was wondering your thoughts on my comparison?

What do you do normally use yours for? Have you done any graphic/video editing on it? While the colour range seems good on paper, how is the accuracy? How do you find the touch part of it? Just good enough for tapping buttons, or accurate enough for using as a drawing tablet?

                    • +1

@PeppaPigDidNthngWrng: Compared to an iPad, I guess it comes down to whether you want a tablet that can act as a screen, or something that is an outright portable display. An iPad is a fully functioning tablet with pen support, this is a plug-and-play 4K OLED touch monitor. Using the iPad wirelessly might have some latency or artifacts. Not sure how well it works with Apple but it's terrible with Samsung tablets.

I use mine for media and entertainment. Got it hooked up above my bed and I use USB-C to connect it to my phone (Samsung DeX) or laptop. An absolute game changer. Occasionally, I'll use it as a screen for my Switch or as a second screen for my laptop when I'm doing work. I'm not an artist and haven't done any video editing, so I can't help you with that unfortunately. It does have pretty comprehensive display adjustment and modes (sRGB, RGB, DCI-P3, Rec. 2020, HDR support). No idea how accurate it is, but it's the nicest looking display I have apart from my TV. I find the touch aspect as good as any tablet or laptop but I'm pretty sure there's no digitiser for pen support.

  • I was tempted by this but then realised my iPad Air with a video capture dongle is probably a better substitute

  • +1

This is pretty neat, I use my iPad Pro 10.5" as a second screen for my laptop and I find the size is excellent considering the portability aspect. The iPad is 120Hz compared to this at 60Hz, but regardless for under $100 this is a steal for anyone looking for a well-sized portable second screen :)

    • I only found about this function today with my iPad air 4 and MBP! Amazing how the apple ecosystem ties together so well. No cables, no WiFi, just Bluetooth and it's able to extend the display. Was thinking I needed an external display but the ipad will do.

      • I'm not sure it's possible to extend a display via "just bluetooth". It does not have the bandwidth. I believe one device will tell the other what the wi-fi password is, but you still need a network/hotspot in play.

        • Yeah, I think it uses Bluetooth to start/hand-off the connection, but then it's all direct. Unsure if direct wifi, but probably not; probably normal VNC connection (which is how they normally work; mac has VNC all built in). FYI, what Zack and Possum are using is called "Sidecar".

          • @PeppaPigDidNthngWrng: Yeah neat. I think it can do direct wifi if no other networks are available / you're not using wifi for internet on one of the devices. IE tethered to your phone via bluetooth or somesuch. Cool feature.

  • Arrives next year?

    • +1

Its AliExpress Choice so probably in 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe even a week.

  • You know, I was actually looking at something like this to keep ADS-B / Flightradar up next to my main rig / a window with a view… but didn't want a particularly big screen to do it. Was thinking of a standalone tablet but this is far cheaper. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. I wonder if there's anything this size OLED.

  • any touchscreen offers? :)
    preferably larger portable screen too!

I'm looking to sell 2 4k OLED portable monitors. Screen is from Samsung. They are surely better than this one but price is higher as well.
