Reviews are very low, actually. Also, a reviewer from GOG says that the games uses Unity and its user tracker so that it spies on you. They say this is illegal in Europe. I won't get this even it's free.

    • Guess that means you will be uninstalling half the games in your steam library.

I have no game made by Unity in my Steam library. Also, publishers have the option to turn on or off the tracker. In this case, the commenter from the GOG says that they turn on the tracker. I wish you had had more knowledge about the matter before replying.

I don’t think privacy matters in this part of the interwebs

Some people here are so weird. We are talking about something illegal in Europe and I cited that's why I won't get the game. I am negged for nothing. Every privacy issue is not on the same level and in this case I mentioned about a comment from GOG. I didn't even say nothing about my opinions. Unfortunately, people who negged me apparently have some problems.

      • +4

Legitimate concern. Once OZB gets on the groupthink neg parade, your comment can't recover.

People should care more about these things, but most don't appear to in Aus.

I tried to like this one, it was clearly crafted affection for the genre. But like other Euro made adventure games, the puzzling was uninspiring, and the dialogue/humour awkward.

Obeyed the dealbot, added and forgotted.

    Excerpt from number one review, and quoted above for those wondering;

    "…3. Privacy Issues:

The game comes with Unity and uses Unity's user tracking feature to spy on you. Neither does it tell nor does it present the opt-out option.
This violates GDPR, so selling the game in Europe is illegal.
Developers and Publishers who do this should be banned permanently from platforms like GOG.

    Thanks for your vote!

    • You should not be surprised that every bit of software you install sends information back home. But there are laws protecting the type of information that can be sent. Do I agree with this, absolutely not, I hate it.

It is very easy to check what is being sent. If you have basic computer skills, just install sniffer software and you can see all the data that is being sent out.

If this bothers you, do not install any games, because it doesn't matter what game engine was used, they all do it. In fact, you shouldn't even own a computer or phone, because you can't even turn it on without that information being tracked somewhere.

      From Unity's website: https://unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-faq

DOES UNITY COLLECT WHAT THE GDPR REFERS TO AS “SPECIAL CATEGORIES” OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT PLAYERS, SUCH AS POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS, OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION?
No. Unity does not collect these special categories of personal information.

But there are laws protecting the type of information that can be sent.

True, but these are hard to police, especially for a fairly obscure adventure game developed in another jurisdiction. Laws are merely guidelines until they're tested in court, and as corporations are demonstrating through enshittification, they're doing their best to get away with stealing content and user data to feed their own ends. As such, privacy issues identified in software are worth reading instead of downvoting, as people did with the above helpful comments.

+1 for introducing me to the word enshittification :) love it, and couldn't agree more.

My point is, why single out Unity as the bad guy, when they are probably one of the more transparent companies when it comes to the data they collect? If you are going to boycott a company for invading your data privacy, I would start with Google.

@Zaddo: Yep. Apple, Amazon, Epic Games, Google, Reddit, Valve, YouTube are all up in your base, pwning ur n00bz.

And the sniffer software sees encrypted data, now what? lol

        • That's true. But you can see the amount of data and the frequency. Which gives you a clue to how invasive their data collection is.

          • @Zaddo: Yes you can tell if data is being sent… but there is no way at all to know what that data actually is.

don’t use your mobile phone at all or card to buy stuff too. in fact don’t even go out, there are cctvs that can track you
