Sony PlayStation Vita + Little Big Planet + FIFA + 4GB Card + Accessories $299 @ JB

740

Saw this in JB today and thought it was a pretty decent deal for the Vita. Not only is it the cheapest local price at the moment, it comes with a heap of extras:

  • Little Big Planet Vita (via download)
  • Fifa Football
  • 4GB Memory Card
  • Case
  • Wrist Strap
  • Screen Protector

While this isn't as cheap as some of the crazy European Amazon deals, I think it's a great deal for a local shop. Other retailers are selling the same bundle without Fifa or the Accessories for 350.

Also, this is only the Wifi model, not 3G.

    Excellent price for local stock

  • +2

Great deal, FIFA is a solid game and LBP is awesome.

  • Must… not… spend… money…

Is anybody aware if EB Games would price match this bundle? Or do they only price match single items?

    • +2

Generally, as long as they have all the same stock, yes. The console, memory card and LBP game all come in one box which EB sells for $298. You might not get the accessory kit, as they probably don't have the same brand, but they should be able to throw in FIFA and do it for $299.

      • Anyone care to guess what Fifa would trade in for?

        • Probably around $15, maybe $20…

      • Cool, might try it. I am a bit of a points whore, this would get me to level 2. Yayy! I suppose the big question is, do I need it… Anybody on here have one? Thoughts, feelings and emotions?

        • I've had one since launch, and it's great! At this price (and with these games) I definitely think that you're getting good value for money. Highly recommended. Also look at getting Uncharted Golden Abyss and Rayman Origins (looks amazing on that screen!)

      EB don't pricematch bundles

    • +2

      No, sorry, they'll reject you.

As far as I'm aware, they won't put separate items together to price match someone else's pack.
      They also wont match hardware.

Multiple EB staff have said this to me. I've been flabbergasted each time as it's a crock of shat.

I can definately recommend the Vita… already owned it for a few months and Uncharted: Golden Abyss is as good as Uncharted 1 (which is great considering its portable), Motorstorm RC is a great price for a decent racing game on the go, Wipeout 2048 looks amazing on the OLED screen, and Gravity Rush is almost my game of the year, with a stunning open world…

I've had it for a few months now, and especially for someone on Melbourne public transport a fair bit, its still been amazing me with the games that it has produced so far! ^_^

    • Hey how do you play in daylight on train? I tried in brisbane and too much glare :(

      • +2

It was a bit nicer being in melbourne during winter… the cloud cover usually stopped the glare from being an issue.

My only advice would be cranking the brightness up to full (which is a battery drainer) or to pick the best spot on the train where there is a bit of cover from the sun. Otherwise, if you dont want to act like a vampire by avoiding the sun, an anti-glare/matte screen protector for it could be more beneficial? I personally don't have one of these, but it could help?

  • Damn this is a good price. Wish I could justify the purchase!

  • does the vita and LBP work as that cross control thingy with the PS3?

    • PS Plus did notify me that it had updated lbp2 with a patch last night so I'm guessing it may have been cross control patch.

  • if only i didnt jump on a 'crazy european deal' recently… which I am still waiting on… i could have had it today :(

  • +1

I just want to + for the WARTORTLE! :D

  • The promo starts on 27 Sept 2012 and runs till 17 Oct 2012, look at the bottom right. You may not get this deal within the next 7 days.

    • Is that an 8 or a 9? Actually, considering LBP only came out recently, it would be a 9.

  • Very good deal. I have really enjoyed my Vita so far, and have a bunch of games including LBP which I picked up today. LBP is quite stunning.

Its getting a price drop to 175 USD in the US pretty soon - so it should come down over here too. I would think carefully about a deal like this

    • +2

Source? quick Google resulted in no price drop until 2013

      • There is no source, its an unfounded claim. Sony have repeated many times that there will be no price drop this year. Bundles is what they are doing.

Just sharing my thoughts. The Eb at Macquarie shopping opting centre NSW price matched JB hifi's deal and I could pick any game I wanted. He also threw in an accessory pack as well

So it depends on which EB I guess..

    On another point.

If you plan on getting this deal with little big planet as a download, that will lock you to registering in the Australian PSN store to buy digital games

Prices are pretty jacked up in the Aus store compared to the US

Eg a lot of vita games are about 30-40USD and the psp games are about 7-20USD

You will likely be adding about 10 more Aussie dollars or 12 USD to get the same game.
PS plus will be adding a Vita section which will allow you some free games for the vita, and the us subscription for the PS plus is usually cheaper than Aus

If you are gonna buy only vita games and play with cartridges then this JB deal is good to go

If you're like me and tend to download some ps1 or psp games from the store, you're gonna end up spending big if you stick with the aussie ps store

You can switch accounts but it's a pain in the @$$
You also need an extra memory card to do so as well

    Just some helpful info

Its nice of you but tbh if you can go to the trouble of buying PSN cards from US then you can also just import games from UK, US and Asia like I do and get even cheaper prices than US PSN plus you can use your existing AU account if like me you have a long term one with PS Plus sub. I bought discounted PSN credit and got the $52 (25% off) yearly sub do my Plus sub works out cheaper than a US sub.

Also are you aware that Best Buy has ceased selling US PSN cards online? Ended a few weeks ago, now you have to pay more than face value from resellers.

As for PSN prices, US are cheaper on average but Aus has many more sales and the sale prices are usually excellent.
There are many US account users on WP who are ditching their US accounts in favor of Aus accounts now.

      • I used to buy US PSN cards from Bestbuy as well until they stopped selling them. I now buy from Amazon, which stopped selling them a while back, but is now available again.

  • This or nexus 7 for gaming ???

    • +9

      This. Smartphone gaming sucks.

      (Posted from an N7)

      • +1

I agree 100%. You can't beat physical controls for gaming (also posted from Nexus 7)

  • Awesome deal, thank you will be getting one today.

  • I would be all over this if it was Uncharted instead of FIFA and 16gb instead of the 4gb.

    • As would everybody, because, y'know, Uncharted is slightly more valuable than FIFA, and 16GB is more valuable than 4GB.

      • In time, I feel that it's going to happen pretty soon.

  • -4

Good price, but the vita is pretty much DOA. Hardly any games & nothing coming out soon except AC3.

    • +8

Yeah cos you'd know that Gravity Rush, MGS HD Collection, Disgaea 3, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Lumines ES, Unit 13, Rayman Origins, Uncharted GA, Virtua Tennis 4, Ragnarok Odyssey, Shinobido 2, Mortal Kombat Komplete, Escape Plan, Mutant Blobs Attack, Sound Shapes, Super Stardust Delta, Touch My Katamari, Escape Plan, Wipeout 2048, Everybody's Golf, Zen pinball 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Motorstorm RC and so on are all no good wouldn't you?

Also that Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, Ratchet And Clank Q Force, Bioshock, Call Of Duty, Dragon's Crown, Final Fantasy, "a new Hideo Kojima Fox Engine product", Project Diva, FIFA 13, Oddworld Strangers Wrath and Munch's Odyssey, God Eater 2, Killzone Mercenary, NFS Most Wanted, New Little King's Story, Persona 4 The Golden, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2, Phantasy Star Online 2, Sly Cooper Thieves In Time, Sonic All Stars Racing, Soul Sacrafice, Streetfighter x Tekken, World Rally Championship 3 are not worth mentioning, its just Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation.

Then there's the fact that PS Vita gets PS Plus support from November onwards, instant game collection, free content monthly, online save backups, auto syncing etc. On top of that remote play is starting to roll out free patches on games so we can play PS3 games through the Vita. Then there's cross play, buy it on PS3, get it free on Vita.

Stooopid uneducated comments piss me off.

source for most of incoming http://www.pushsquare.com/games/soon?title=&region=&system=p…

      • Where is the source that says if you buy it on PS3 you get it free on Vita? If this is true, I'm definitely going to get one.

        • Its only confirmed for three games so far, PS All Star Battle Royale, Ratchet and Clank QForce and Sly Cooper TIT (unfortunate acronym) It is also rumoured NFS Most Wanted is going to be though that is not confirmed.

Google Vita cross buy for details.

  • Will LBP even fit on the supplied memory card?

  • +1

nice deal. I will get one.

  • I bought FF7 from the ps store.. Am I able to transfer it to the vita?

    • +1

Yes. Just be sure to use the same PSN account on both consoles.

  • So I'm thinking of getting this and using the 4 gig memory card with my AU PSN account (for LBP) and buying a 16 gig one for an US account (cheaper games). What's the disadvantage of this? I hear it messes up the icons or something? Anything else?

    • No, that's about it.

  • For this who are curious about Cross Play

Shows how brilliantly the PS3 and Vita versions interact with eachother.
