    My Barista Express is too powerful (15 bar). So end up with fast pours, or channeling (made worse with a single jet hole under the shower screen).

    Ive seen some people adjust the OPV bleed off valve inside to bring it back to 9 bar at the group head (but then the bottom tray fills up fast).

    So thinking adding a dimmer circuit on the pump is the only way to go.

    P.S. I have also been playing/ fixing a Sunbeam Barista Max. With a 58mm head, it makes a nicer coffee. But internally, its all cracked & perishing plastic joiners and cheap valves. I called the warranty service line..straight up replacement, no attempt to repair. So its basically a landfill machine

      You're buying Sunbeams and Brevilles with the expectation they're anything more than landfill machines?

      My Rancilio Silvia has been an absolute work horse for 7 years, and the only repair I've had to do was to replace the boiler element. It was a piece of piss to do because there are ample spare parts for the machine and plenty of guides around, unlike the landfillers.

      Buy yourself a quality machine and it will last a long time.

        I got both from hard rubbish, so cant complain.
        The Breville was an easy fix. Replaced a plastic elbow with a metal push fitting. Now literally better than new.
        The Sunbeam has this proprietary 4 way plastic joiner (stress cracks all through it). So cant replace with metal. Can buy the part though for $20..but Im guessing 3 years of life in it.
        Will keep an eye out for a Rancilio (they 58mm/ 9 bar)?
