Thanks! Luckily I didn't see the previous deal! 😅

Grabbed a wide-head NV to replace the small-head NV I currently have in the garage. And 2 of the 4 bonus E27's Whites will replace the 2 I have on my desk that do colour that I can use in other places in the house.

Also didn't bother to use the 10% off code because didn't want to go under $50 and have to spend atleast $8.50 more for another White E27/B22.. 😅

  • How is the product support of lifx

    • I'm not sure of support, but my LED light strip is a nightmare. Drops off of wifi literally like 80% or the time I try to use it.

Fair few people on Reddit with similar stories.

      Given up on it.

  • Edison screw only? ordered anyway, a Clean and a white bayonet cap. I don't see anything about the four free bulbs in my $54 confirmation order email.

    • You have to add the free globes to your order manually. They allowed me to add any 4 of Mini White, A60, E27 Edison Screw or White, B22 Bayonet Cap, the add was available on the view cart page.

      • Well shoot, I guess it's too late now. I don't see an option to cancel order.

That's annoying. Try contacting them. I've edited the post to clarify.

Nothing screams confidence like a domain name ending in .cc

    • +2

True, before ordering I first checked lifx.com.au to read more and under the shop menu clever house (plus JB, Bunnings and amazon) are listed so felt safe to order from them

Are we meant to add the four free bulbs to our cart before checking out? I'm really confused by this. my order confirmation number suggests far less than 2,000 orders have been placed with this site so far.

    • It appears at your cart

      • It didn't appear in mine. I added the LIFX Clean for $45, and the White for $15, minus 10% was $54. Completed checkout and there was no four extra bulbs.

    • less than 2,000 orders

It is a new store and they currently only stock LIFX and Airversa with other brands/products "coming soon". LIFX newsletter 23 Aug announced them as a "a new exclusive distributor in Australia". As per LIFX, "exclusive" just means they fulfil the orders for lifx.com.au, so LIFX should continue being sold at other stores.

      • That’s good to know. Though I wonder how I’m going to get my four free bulbs, wonder if they will just send them to me.

        • It was an option at the bottom of the cart to add either a e27 or b22 mini in white. You have to click, "add" for each individual bonus bulb, so 4 clickthroughs to add the 4 bonus, before checking out..

Clear out as all new Lifx range coming pretty soon. Hopefully will Matter support. These are all WiFi only which has its pros and cons

    • Yes once I found without wifi I annoyingly couldn’t dim the bulb in my room. But zigbee relies on wifi too doesn’t it?

      • +1

Zigbee is quite different. It's a radio based mesh network so each bulb or device talks whatever is other is closest or strongest signal, the network becomes very reliable and strong whilst not bogging down your WiFi network with heaps of extra devices.
It's also local and not cloud/internet dependent, as well as the devices use less power than WiFi connected ones.
It does require a hub though, and there are some limitations on interoperability between brands. That is unless you have a Home Assistant setup, which is much more involved (but awesome).
Also, if not in a rush, maybe worth hanging on for Matter over Thread bulbs and devices to become more available as they have similar benefits to Zigbee and you may already have a hub like compatible device in your home

        • It would be interesting to know how much less power Zigbee or Thread devices use. Edit: a quick google says 1-2 watts per day for WiFi, 0.3 - 0.6 for Zigbee. This is negligible to a household bill, but would add up for a large facility or across a population. I have no central hub, so I imagine getting one would be a net negative, as that itself consumes energy.

          • @xlynx: Lower power bill isn't the main benefit of taking your smart devices off WiFi and cloud dependace but would only take a few bulbs plus hub (or Home Assistant device) to use less power overall.
Also, zigbee motion sensors etc run off button batteries that last over a year so those devices on the network don't need any power or plug sockets

            • @hen dawg:

but would only take a few bulbs plus hub (or Home Assistant device) to use less power overall.

Let's say you had Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 4. The Pi is widely cited at 3.5W. LIFX uses 0.7W. So if a Zigbee/Thread device uses 0.3W, you'd need 9 bulbs to break even compared to not having a Home Assistant device. But if it uses 0.6W, you'd need 35 Zigbee/Thread bulbs to break even. In price terms, a LIFX would cost about $1.50 per year in standby, based on a price of $0.25 per kWh. As energy price is growing faster than inflation, devices with lower power consumption become relatively more valuable over time.

Going by the ASIC listing something happened to the company arrangements on 21/9. Something to keep in mind

Interesting. Anyone actually received their orders yet? Mine hasn’t been shipped and they haven’t responded to my query. Feeling like this may have not been a smart purchase…

      • I'm interested too, the offer still seems to be available, and I'm tempted to jump on it, if it all works out

      • Negative, waiting on a shipping notification before I consider putting in another order.

  • Great deal thanks. 8 for $54 delivered

  • ordered. 8 for $54 delivered

  • LIFX are pretty good for home automation but these bulbs are only 800 lux the newer ones are 1000.

I think these are the basic white bulbs and fixed at 2700K

If these are the older ones they have issues with the wifi/esp chips dying early and making a weird loud buzzing sound.

I had a few die ages ago and LIFX were pretty good and sent replacement 1000 lux bulbs which have been pretty solid.

The ones here are all colour though…Way better but more $

    Still, pretty decent discount.

    • I was a little reluctant to get fixed 2700K but under a diffuser and dimmed they have a nice warmth. They'd probably be a little harsh for my taste with no diffuser.

  • Someone reported as expired/sold out/closed but Clever House still lets you add the gifts at check out, so more info is required.
