  • Peak 1 and off peak are the same - is that a typo?

I'm with tango and the daily charge is high but the rates are better unless you've copied the winter rates twice?

    • I went from Tango to CovAu

  • Do you have to be a new AGL gas person or can you be an existing one on an old plan but is willing to ‘lock’ into a new one?

    • I think its for new customers only. But no harm in trying.

      • Contacted AGL this morning about this offer and was rejected - Only new sign ups are eligible for the $150 Mastercard.

    • Already with AGL? You can still take advantage of this offer by switching to the AGL St Kilda Value Saver plan.

    • Also keen to know!

      • Do you want your credit score to go down then go ahead

There are no lock in contracts for residential energy on market meters in Australia.

  • I’ve had such bad experiences with AGL in the past. Have they improved any over the past couple of years?

    • +3

You could ask the same question about the Saints.

    • +1

I've found they're all much of a muchness. Simply energy were worst for me.

      • That's not true. We've saved over 30% by switching away from AGL to Energy Locals in QLD last month. Their daily supply charges and tariffs are not competitive anymore. I asked them if they could do any better and they over slightly better plan. I left them and they offered $100 to go back. No thank you. Grass is greener elsewhere.

  • I was going to cut off my gas soon, but at these rates, even if it takes 5 months with no usage I still come out ahead.

does not work for me VIC 3204

Sorry, it doesn't look like we currently supply energy to your area.

Same - may have to do what op did and use chat

I signed up for this a month ago and recently received the $150 card. It's worth noting that you seem to get any other offers available as well. I also got a $75 credit (I only changed elec not gas) and another $40 master card for abandoning my cart for 24 hours.

All up $265 of credits and cards

    • abandoning my cart for 24 hours

      Can you explain this?

      • I got distracted and left my elec plan in the "cart" on the AGL website without checking out and forgot about it. About a day later I got an email from AGL say if I use the link in the email I'll be able to redeem a $40 card after staying connected for 30 days

        • How did you get the $75 credit?

          • +1

@sween64: It's the offer on the front page.

Be rewarded with up to $150 in credits when you join AGL energy online

Sign up to AGL energy online and get a $75 once-off credit for gas and electricity. Offer available to new and moving residential customers in VIC, with selected plans.

I only did elec so $75 credit

Even if AGL comes up the cheapest you end up paying for it in other ways. They came out with worst customer service recently among the energy providers. In my previous job i managed over 200 properties and had something like 80+ utility bills to set up and pay. Problems with the AGL accounts always took months to resolve. Even a simple process like closing an account be complicated and they had a lot of bullying tactics to get you to pay even for their mistakes.

  • Beware, the did a credit check for me when I responded to their email and only switched to a better gas plan according to their email instructions. Dropped my credit score by one tier down

  • Their cs support is terrible, from my experience

  • I'm getting:

    Sorry, something's gone wrong.
We're having some issues accessing the right data. Please try reloading the page or get in touch with our team for more help.

    • Same, on the phone with resolutions team rn. I'll update on the outcome.

After 40 minutes and waiting on hold for the last 5 while she spoke to a 'supervisor' the call dropped lol. and didnt get a call back. Ill take this as a sign and avoid AGL as compared to even energy australia the small sample of customer service i got from the basic call support staff was crap. Bit of a farce to dick up promotions like this. Id downvote if I could but I voted prematurely.

    Worst customer service ever.

I signed up in Aug through an email which said I can get $40 gift card if I remain on the plan for 30 days. Signed up and no mastercard.

Chat to support, support takes 6 hours to reply (of course I'm not going to sit in front of my screen waiting 6 hours). Every time I reply back to their message, a new support staff replies 6 hours later asking the same question. I explain to them everything and with every new support staff, they say the same thing. I ask if they can read the numerous messages I've sent in the past for this problem over the last 8 days, and they say nothing.

Seriously they're trained to prolong the problem, not to resolve it.

  • I got a $100 Mastercard and $75 account credit through an offer from Bank of Melbourne for changing over my electricity only. Would I still get another $150 Mastercard if I changed my gas over as this is a different offer from the electricity one?

  • I am an existing AGL gas and electricity customer, when I click on this link and put my address in it gives an error that we do not service this area?

Is it for just electricity or gas or do I have to sign up for both with this offer?

I spoke to AGL service rep. who confirmed the below:

"The Digital Mastercard is available to new and current AGL customers and is limited to one voucher per residence
It is available for both new and existing customers."

So seems different Reps are providing different information.(for those who are existing customers who called and were rejected)
As T&C on their website also states both New and Existing customers can avail this offer, so AGL should honour this.

I find that AGL websites are not always reliable. I enter my same address in one promo offer link (Saint Kilda $150) and it recognises the address. When I enter my same address on another Promo link (separate Bendigo Bank offer $100 + $50), I get an error that "we do not service this address".

So seems best to Call up/Online chat if you get address error. For existing customers wanting to avail promo, getting a service rep that refers to their websites T&C.
