now I have to admit 10% off is long gone

    • -1

You forgot to count the activation fee for these cards.

In general, currently10% is good enough to reward customers to spend more knowing that some of them will spend anyways

      • +1

Won't exist, too many have succumbed to whatever they can get. It's gone :(.

  • +3

Good O! Right on time for my deft payments

  • What's the risk of these get hacked/tampered with ?

    • +3

not as bad as TCN GC but since these numbers are reused, there is always a risk.

    • -2

      very risky

      • +1

Idea is you get them and use straight away

    • Lucky saw this and i think i remember wasnt mastercard the same one that got hacked years ago

    • +1

      Keep your receipt

  • +2

Ughhhh right after I had to pay ATO

    • -4

      Are you guys getting refunds?

      • -6

lol blatant fraud scamming, anytime someone asks about vanilla gift cards and the ATO they are doing something illegal.

    • +1

Again. This is now looking deliberate

    • +4

Someone should collect all the gift card deals for the last 2 years and compare them against the dates when PAYG installments are due.

    • Pay ATO by this card won't attract credit card fees?

      • No fees.

  • +6

$5 profit in exchange for inconvenience and $100 limit transaction or deal with remaining small transaction.
Still good for payment for a backup account if accepted.

    • -4

It won't be accepted. I don't quite understand why people buy this.

      • +4

To hit min spend on credit cards quickly if time is running out since this is basically cash.

To pay things like ATO, bills, fines, council rates that won't count towards min spend for cashback or earn points.

        • -1

How does the pay ATO thing work with $100 cards? Most likely folks would have to pay much more than $100 be it ATO, bills, council rates etc and I don't imagine any one of them would allow multiple payment methods right?

          • +2

@ninohax: They allow multiple payments of any amount

  • +1

If not me it would be someone else saying this. It's great for velocity people, an easy way out.

$25 in fees for 5k velocity points.

  • Slightly more annoying to use online than TCN Digital Mastercards, but still easier than Vanilla Visas.

Medibank happily took TCN GCs but these return Do Not Honour. Worst case I’ll swap them over to Amazon GCs.

    • +1

A Do Not Honour error sounds like InComm - the gift card scheme owner - is choosing to decline online transactions at Medibank for some reason.

  • So max is 5x $100 and 5x $250 ?

    • +1

      I read it as or

    • Yes 5 per flybuys

    • 5 cards total of either amount

  • +3

It use to be 10% on the 250$ ah shux!

  • $110 value for $105 so this is only worth 4.76%?

    • +2

a bit more if you're using a credit card to purchase and getting points - or to meet the spending requirements

  • -1

Just got my tax done…..man gonna need a fair few of these

    • -1

Can you still pay ATO with this?

      • +4

It last worked for me a few weeks ago when making a payment via MyGov's ATO portal. I presume it still works.

It would not work when paying an ATO payment slip in-person at Australia Post, as the ATO only accepts cash, cheque and eftpos (SAV - savings / CHQ - cheque) payments at Australia Post. These prepaid gift cards only support Mastercard (CR - credit).

        • +1

When you paid at the Post Office, did you try using any of the prepaid EFTPOS cards by any chance?

          • +1

@daanish: You have assumed I have been able to pay ATO bills at Australia Post!

The information on accepted payment methods is based on the Australia Post website and a discussion with an Australia Post staff member the last time I attempted a bill payment (last month).

During the last payment attempt, I tried to use a physical TCN eftpos gift card, but the staff member did not like that and stopped me.

  • Thanks OP

  • Cheers HB.

  • Can anyone confirm if these can be used to pay ATO? :(

    • -1

Not sure why this is negged.

I'm also wanting confirmation that this can be used to pay an ATO tax bill.

      • +3

WookieMonster commented earlier in the thread that they used one a couple of weeks ago.

    • nah you need Google Play or Apple gift cards for that ;)

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If I purchase 5 x $250 cards, they will cost me $1285 (incl. $35 activation fee)
    I will receive 5 x 2000 points which can convert to $50.
    So I totally save $50 - $35 = $15 eventually.

    • 5 x 2257 points

you get a points for the $257 too

    • +1

If you value $50 Flybus dollar as $50 cash, yes, you earn $15 for $1250 worth of gift card.

    • +1

You don't buy the $250, the $100 gives more returns.

  • Avoid if you you use the 10k points for 4 week shop deals as they will cut you off from that if buy these cards.

    • Not true. Many of us have consistently reported no change to our 4 Week shop offers.

  • -4

WTF is this BS activation fee??

    • It has been a thing since the dawn of time mate.

  • -1

    Useless

  • Anyone know if the 5 limit per FB account is daily or for the entire offer period?

Edit: Reading previous deals. Doesn't look like it resets daily. So max 5 per FB account for the entire period.

  • well, better than nothing, At least get some cash back in my DEFT payment on Dec.
