  • My gripe with this is the proprietary charger, if you are thinking of having it as a wired installation.

    • +1

The wired ones have a standard 240v plug on them.

  • I misread the title as Ring Scotty Cam. He had no idea what I was calling him about.

  • +2

Still requires a subscription which makes the total value pretty poor. Feels like a loss leader to get you in.

    • +1

      What subscription do you need?

      • +2

Ring Protect Plan - Basic for $50 per year per device or Plus for $150 per year per location.

        • +1

Subscription isn’t required though, if recording isn’t essential

          • +2

@original15: Isn’t that what you need for a security camera though? If you get robbed what’s the point of cameras if you can’t see what happened.

            • @JSONBourne: I don’t disagree, it’s a good feature to record lol but it’s not essential.
Without subscription it still notifies you when there is motion/activity etc and you can stream/watch live

  • Whats the best indoor security camera?

    • Misread this as best indoor "soccer" camera! Was about to score!

  • Are these inside suitable for outdoor use?

    • Yes. Then they go off whenever a spider crawls over the lens.

  • +1

Not for or against hence no vote here, but you might want to read this.

    • What can law enforcement see on the camera footage though? I want them to see burglars.

  • I will wait for google nest's deal tbh

  • I have 2 of the Ring battery cams, a doorbell one and a few indoor ones. I have had no false notifications over many months of use from any of them. I like how you can link cameras, ie if one detects a person and records you can set the nearby camera to recording as well. You can also add a solar panel to outdoor ones, $40 for the small panel the last time Amazon had a special. It saves having to recharge them. I have the $150 Ring protect plan, it's worth it I think.

Occasionally one of the yard ones needs a reboot maybe once a month or more but other than that they have been very reliable.

  • how many devices can you hook up with the $150 yearly plan?

  • +1

    Thanks OP, 2 wired left
    .

  • If I’ve got the ring door bell. And pay for that subscription. Will the camera use the same subscription?

  • Wired sold out.
