Heymix have demonstrated time and time again they couldn't care less about anyone that buys their junk. Unless you got some gratification from being mistreated, which is fine, you'd be pretty nuts to give them your money.

    • +1

And yet somehow they continuously get front page deals.

      • +2

Has a lot to do with Ozbargain voting rules discouraging negs IMO.

        • +5

          Nah just people blindly upvoting.

        • +3

I agree on this. The fact you can just hit the positive and move on, yet you have to make a post to give a negative is unfair.

      • +4

love their products, work fine for me,

  • +6

Does it come with a fire blanket or fire extinguisher? If not, then no deal.

  • Wow. 120W..So Heymix can offer me priority fires now?

  • +5

Have one of these, it's been great

    • +4

Same, this one doesn't get that warm under moderate use (and getting warm when pulling 100+W is obviously normal). Just ignore everyone hating on stuff they've never even used.

I'm not saying there haven't been issues with this brand, but parroting something you read on the internet (so it must be true) that applies to a different product, just seems like a sign of a gullible mind to me.

      • +2

yeah honestly mine spends most it's time charging a phone or two, an ipad and at times a laptop. But almost never everything all at once anyway.

    • +1

Same had one for almost a year now. Trip saver for all my gadgets.

  • +1

    I bought a Heymix.

It intermittently gets confused, and I need to turn it off and on, or switch which ports things are plugged into.

    • -3

anker is the same, none of these companies make the chipsets …

      • +3

The difference is Anker actually manufacture their own chargers and get the correct certifications. Heymix are just getting OEM chargers from different factories and slapping their logo on it.

  • -2

    Cheap crap for cheap. 🥱

  • +1

Have bought a Heymix 65w charger and I used it to power a MagSafe . I noticed it immediately that it heated up very quickly as soon as it connected to my MagSafe even there’s nothing attached. Charger was always warm day and night, which I didn’t not observe with other adaptors using the same MagSafe charger.

seemed there’s a substantial current leak. Could be a quality issue or it could be design flaws. Charger returned.

  • +3

Mine failed just a little over a year contacted support they couldn't care less avoid at all cost!

    • Yeah Heymix seem to be one of the worst 'no name' brands out there. Avoid.

      I've had success with Zyron.

$22 US generics, probably low quality and terrible, not to mention their 50% margin

  • +3

Why do Heymix keep getting posted here when they are unsafe products?

    Honestly avoid at all cost

Teardown confirming dodgy products by @ToobsAU

    • Funny that the fanboys neg stuff like this.

    • -1

Holy crap, I wasn't aware of this at all, thank you. Bookmarking this for future reference, this needs to get posted in every single HEYMIX "deal" from now on.

    • +6

I actually took pics of that

      • +3

Pay special attention to the "circuit breaker" and see if you can find any surge protection.

        • +6

I tried reporting it to Amazon, they told me to email the details, wasted my time with a write up and they never responded.

Posted a 1 star review and it got deleted do I posted a negative review with 3 stars or something and heymix quickly offered a refund if I updated my review. I did not update my review but it's probably lost amongst the other reviews.

          • +2

@ToobsAU: You need to do a YouTube video of this or something (I looked, and it seems there's only neutral and generally positive review videos of HEYMIX products at the moment). Somebody with expertise/electrical experience has to expose these shonky operators for what they are.

Also, if they are abusing the SAA certification system, can't the certifying authority get involved and get them banned or something?

            • +1

@deadpoet: Not really my thing, I wonder if Amazon would do free delivery to big Clive in the UK?

Also electrical safety compliance isn't what it used to be, fair trading (and other states equivalent departments) used to require you to have products tested at one of a very select number of labs, then send samples and a comprehensive test report to their electrical safety authority who would tear down the samples and run their own tests of anything looked suspect. They'd even go to retail stores and pick up retail samples themselves if anyone reported them.
Now there's hundreds of labs who can certify products with pretty much no interaction with any government involvement.
I suspect ESA in NSW is probably gutted to the point that there's only a couple of people in the office.

              • @ToobsAU: Ah I see, thank you for the info. The dangers of deregulation and "cutting red tape".

Also, I found this review and endorsement of the HEYMIX powerboard quite amusing:
                https://mrgadget.com.au/best-power-boards/

                3. Best for Surge Protection: HEYMIX Powerboard

                and

Pros: Uses high-performance metal oxide varistors (MOVs)

Protect all your electronics from power spikes and surges with the HEYMIX Powerboard. This is one of the most reliable surge protectors that we tested, and the best part is that it comes at a competitive price.

It offers an impressive 900 Joules worth of surge suppression and also has a long list of features that you can fully count on when the voltage in your electrical system fluctuates. This power board is not only a favourite among gamers but is also liked by a large number of users.

The casing is both impact-resistant and fire-retardant, making it safe for household use. Like the Belkin Quality 2 Power Board, this surge protector has 8 outlets and two USB ports for maximum versatility. The 2.4A ports can come in handy when charging USB-enabled electronics and peripheral devices.

This equipment features two indicator lights that will let you know if the system is protected and properly grounded. Additionally, there is an on/off switch, which will allow you to shut down all the outlets and ports at once.

The other thing that we liked about this power board is that it features a radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtration system, which can effectively attenuate up to 32 decibels (dB).

With a response time of < 1 nanosecond, the surge suppression system will kick in almost instantly during a power surge. It can also offer adequate protection when lightning strikes. The 2-metre power cord is made of premium-quality copper to increase the rate of conduction per unit of time.

                o_O

We spent about a week researching the best power boards Australia has to offer and then sent them to our friend Charlie in Geelong for proper testing. The test models were assessed in a lab setting for surge protection, insulation resistance, and polarity.

During testing, the power boards were subjected to surge-like conditions to see how they perform. Charlie passed 200 to 600 volts through each power board, gradually increasing the voltage, depending on the power rating of the model being tested.

The above-mentioned parameters were measured over a two-week period using a surge protector tester. We instructed Charlie to note down all measurements and highlight everything there is to know about the test models and how they responded to low and high-voltage surges.

We used the data to compare and rank the power boards based on their overall performance. Additionally, we considered factors such as the number of outlets, cable length, spacing between sockets, and build quality.

So "Charlie in Geelong" tested the HEYMIX board and found it to be the best for surge protection? Charlie has some interesting testing methods, it seems…

                • +1

                  @deadpoet: Golden sample?

Or maybe their definition of good is that the Heymix board was still functioning after punching 600v transients through it whereas the other boards MOVs all blew after a few surges.

As you can see from the pictures there aren't any MOVs nor is there any over current protection in the ones straight from Amazon.

I have one of these. I noticed that when I picked up a USB C cable the tip would shock me. Didn't happen with any other charger and all USB C cables I tried did the same thing. I noticed it quite late, like a year later. Contacted Heymix and to their credit they sent me a new one. The new one did the same thing lol

  • It's interesting that there are a bunch of upvotes for this but also some votes from people who don't like their chargers burning.
