Asus RT-AX3000 V2 this model is the way to go

  • As an alternative, can I recommend the HAP AX Lite for $102 plus postage. This is a highly capable router with the (below specs) and Mikrotik RouterOS allowing advanced features such as QOS, VLAN's MPLS, VPLS, OSPF.

    Product code L41G-2axD
    Architecture ARM
    CPU IPQ-5010
    CPU core count 2
    CPU nominal frequency 800 MHz
    Switch chip model MT7531BE
    RouterOS license 4
    Operating System RouterOS v7
    Size of RAM 256 MB
    Storage size 128 MB

Also, if your budget can stretch to $178 plus postage the Mikrotik hAP ax2 has a quad-core 800mhz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 128mb flash, plus dual-chain 2.4ghz and 5ghz ax WiFi 6.

You can recommend, but this router can run customer firmware, has double the RAM and double the ROM. The router has USB ports as well. It is a shame no more official firmware support and Merlin not going to continue working on it. To be fair, Merlin has done the owners of this router a big favour already.

      • It does have more RAM and ROM however without ongoing firmware support, it's likely to become a liability as exploits are found for AsusWRT.

        • I have a mikrotik managed switch and it is buggy dogsh*t. I will stick with my asus. The only router I don't have to reconfigure every time I get a new game. Looking at you ubiquity

  • Can this modem set to block accessing Youtube website for example?.

  • Can anyone comment on Xiaomi AX5400 gaming router and/or AX6000 routers ? you can get them around $150 from Alixep.

  • I have this and it’s been solid and stable

  • I have it, nothing wrong with normal use. I don't want to upgrade the firmware as my other Asus router was unstable after some upgrade.

    • I'd recommend upgrading to the latest firmware as it has some security fixes. I've had no issues with the latest firmware on ours if that helps at all.

  • That sucks it's not being supported. Got it last sale, and it's awesome. Works well.

In saying that, I didn't update my other ASUS router for 4 years, and it ran perfectly.

So, for the price, not the end of the world.

  • Have this, been solid. Does anyone know how Merlin benefits more than the Asus firmware?

  • Would this work better than a AX55 for AIMESH node only? or better to wait for the AX55 to go to $99?

  • This or the TP-Link AX5400 Archer AX72 ?
