      That's a DAS, not a NAS

      • Sorry my mistake!

  • Truenas here I come

    • I was considering using Xpenology, would you recommend Truenas over the Synology DSM?

  • Back to full price!!!

    • And now it's back to $319.99

      • 🤣

  • Bought one of these a few weeks ago and set it up with Unraid to use as a plex server.
Working with a NAS is new to me but setup was easy enough following some youtube tutorials, no complaints so far its been running smoothly.

To those who might not have looked, there is a promotion on this NAS, if you leave a review on the vendors page, in this case Amazon, and send the details to the Terramaster marketing team as per this page , they will send you a 4GB stick of RAM to install so you'l have 8GB if you haven't already upgraded.

    • Thanks for that. I already upgraded my F4-423 to 16GB but I'm sure I can use it elsewhere.

What is the point of 2 Bays NAS when you can't do RAID 5 ?
Mirror is the only option for 2 bays? So you will lose half the capacity.

    • Networked storage I guess. You could do RAID0 but then lose the protection.

Yeah, then it would be cheaper to get a DAS/enclosure (around $130).

For backups and file storage. If you were running something like Docker or the countless other apps the NAS makes sense even with 2 bays.
