  • Their person detection is screwy and the subscriptions are not free. However most of the features are not subject to subscription, except cloud stored backup.

yes technically. most of the no cost features on Tapo require a subscription/cost from the other manufacturers

  • I am looking for a wireless camera for front, any recommendations ?

C325WB, better person detection, larger fov, better night vision and higher fps then C320WS. Also allows to create different detection zones for different activity types. For example, good for detecting people walking on the road without the notification cars.

      • Its not wireless. I have 7 Dahua Cam system installed. I am only looking to install a wireless cam at the front door near power switch which doesn't depend on the power supply.

  • C320
For $92, for sure. Doubles as a sensor light when Im struggling to put keys in the door at night. High res, waterproof, high speed, IR night vision …

The C310 is pretty good, last one I bought was a shade under $90 from Officeworks.

Night vision is good, the person detection can be iffy (moving trees, spiders can trigger it). The 15 fps annoys me but reality is I don't need 30/60fps. It supports rtsp access (i use VLC to access from my PC). I dont have any issues with the Tapo app - usually the cheaper cams have rubbish ones.

oh yes the detection does get it wrong but I just assumed all brands do that. I haven't actually used any other manufacturer

      • The only other one I have is a gridconnect smart doorbell, and its worse. Wouldnt detect anyone coming up to the door, or if it did, it was so slow in recording i'd just get a pic of them walking away/out of frame.

I had a play with zoneminder (basically turn a pc into a recorder) which has detection but I couldnt be bothered with the complexities in the end and went back to the tapo detection.

        • I see. with these tp link ones I put endurance microsd in them all and have them recording 24/7
