buy 2 packs then you can build Iron Man suit 🚀

  • might be a good overall discount but I can't say I agree with the 7.5AH battery being worth $440, maybe that should read "…normally retails for $440".

    • Fair enough, I'll reword.

      • Yeah lots of these batteries selling on market place new in boxes. People buy several items and get free batteries and sell them off cheaper.

  • Battery is sh!t, 2 of mine crapping out right after the warranty ended. Would have made it within warranty if I just used 1 instead of cycling through them but I thought it was of higher quality. Despite Ego's claims that the batteries can last 6-7 years with whatever usage, and I used 1 battery every 3 weeks, its way below par. I never overcharged, and stored+charged indoors. If you have a choice between choosing a battery or another tool for redemption, then dont get another battery

    My post : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756928

    • I have owned* a fleet of Ego stuff and only had one of four batteries fail, and I just replaced the single blown cell and it's still good now. They were bought when Masters collapsed in 2016.

      • I've recently moved to a townhouse so sold it all.
      • I also suspect as it's such a big battery that one of the battery inside has failed and is just throwing off the charger. Unfortunately my husband and I don't have the knowledge and tools to fix it, although he does have time to learn now. He's scared it might explode on him lol.

I bought into the whole Ego ecosystem in Dec 2019, have a total of 3 batteries and 2 of them failing right after warranty, almost feels like a conspiracy 😂

        • It's not hard to fix, except for the connector to the batteries which needs to be welded on. This is what's prevent most people replacing cells themselves.

  • I use mine daily and 3x5ah and 3x2.5ah failed after 2 years, all got replaced. I even keep the batteries in an Esky when in the car I'm seriously thinking of going back to petrol.

  • I just want the battery. Is there much of a market for the blower, second hand but new?

Ego battery is shit because they are being overzealous with battery design and specs, the bms are designed to launch a rocket into Mars of sort and any imbalance will certainly lead to catastrophic failure blowing your house off. This in turns causes so many issues for normal user.

    • Agree. Once they are out of warranty you need to be able to DIY to keep them going. At least it means there lots of cheap/free "dead" packs around.

  • Try using this EGO crap in Summer, especially in the Lawnmower. Constantly going into heat protection mode and I have all the EGO gear and 6 batteries. Luckily 4 have been replaced under warranty and a charger as well.

  • Yeah had a 7.5ah replaced under warranty, hasn't been too bad since but does lose power quick if under heavy load. I never use the fast charger just the slow one

    • I was thinking of getting a slow charger incase the fast one messed up my batteries, looks like it's no different then

  • does this blower also work left handed? or only on the right side?

    • Their multi tool safety button is also for right handers. Ego clearly don't care about lefties.

      • Abolish all left-handed peasants.
