[NSW, QLD] LG 55" G2 Gallery OLED TV $1888 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

330

Great price for LG's flagship 2022 OLED.

Regarding differences between C3, this has a brighter panel and thinner bezels, as well as the ability to be wall-mounted flush (although it does not come with a traditional stand). However, there is no DTS compatibility so keep that in mind.

There only seems to be a couple of stores in QLD and NSW which have C&C available.

  • Any suggestions from the community on where to buy a wall mount? And what budget is good?
There are ones from $50 to $500, so what gives?

I think the TV comes with it's own mount to get it as close to the wall as possible.

    • It comes with a propriety wall mount (noting that's all, it doesn't come with a normal stand).

Pros of the wall mount - once done, it looks really good like the TV is sticking on the wall, no protrusion.

Cons of the wall mount - has very limited room for adjustment. In my case, I can only hit one stud, the other screws rely on toggle bolt anchors.

I got the 65" G2 last year and loved it (could have gone bigger but it is too expensive for G2).

If you are considering aftermarket wall mounts and do not mind the look, perhaps a C series will give you a better bang for buck?

      • I'm glad it wasn't just me who struggled a lot more than expected with the wallmount. Mine is also only into one stud, but I bought some pretty fancy anchors for the rest. I still hate having to move it off the wall to access the back though, I really don't trust them.
Otherwise tho, this TV looks so damn fine being so flush against the wall.

Wow, good luck with that. You know the issue isn't how strong the anchor toggles you buy are. It's limited to how strong the plasterboard it's inserted into is. The answer is, no where near strong enough for a TV. That is a huge risk! You should use a bracket that spans at least 2 studs to support the weight appropriately.

        • Thanks for the tips, I know the risk and researched thoroughly before going ahead.

          Out of the 8 screws:
          - 2 hit a stud (rightmost)
          - the top row of the other three anchored on an OSB which is fixed to studs
          - the rest is on plasterboard

With the TV being relatively light (21kg or so) I’m not too concerned, but when it’s time for reno, I’m gonna fix a piece of wood to the whole area, attached to multiple studs.

Using an aftermarket bracket doesn’t work with G series, loses the entire aesthetic appeal.

@EWing1389: Yeah recommend trying to make the standard one work, I went with after market and die a little each time I see it not sitting as flush as it would have otherwise

          • @EWing1389: Did you use the supplied mounting plate that is put in just for the Australian market, you had to fix plate first and then fix the bracket to that plate. That plate allows you to fix to studs at 600 cts which stud spacings should not be going over.

            • @donkcat: Oh my, what have I done.. I better check what leftover parts I have in the storeroom!

    • Good guys commercial
