  • Is this better than the $100 Ryobi deal from yesterday? I'm starting to get drill envy if it is.

    • -1

If you are already in the Makita ecosystem, then it's better because you get an extra charger and a battery, but otherwise, no. This is just an entry level drill like Ryobi.

      • +5

Entry level Makita is not equivalent to entry level Ryobi. Makita is a considered trade quality, whereas Ryobi is DIY quality.

We use Makita and anytime a tool breaks, the Makita sales rep comes out to us and sorts us out on the spot.

        • Is the rep cute? Sounds like this could be a good way to meet men.

          • @AustriaBargain:

this could be a good way to meet men.

Why did you assume that the rep (or solidice) is male?

Jokes aside, I should have worded my reply more carefully. @solidice is correct. Makita is still of higher quality and the warranty might be better (never needed warranty with Makita). I only meant they are close in terms of features, being entry level hammer drills.

    • i would go with makita.
if you are considering ryobi, don't. save your money and get ozito instead. they are in the same tier, and you will find a ton of ozito deals and easy to do warranties because you just take it into any bunnings and they will get you sorted. only get this if you are a diy person that will probably only touch there tools once a year. if you are going to use it more often then that, i would go makita.
my first makita set was a brushless drill and driver combo. little pricier then what i wanted to pay, but man it was the best decision i ever made. they also have the largest range of cordless products and i have expanded to fans, kettles, radios, cooler, and way too many tools. i am on the 18v lxt and 12v cxt platform. i don't think i will go up to 40v because i don't do anything that needs all that power. 18v is more then enough power for me to take care of all my needs.
it's legal crack, and my combo kit was the gateway drug, lol.

  • Wicked deal, these are rock solid for the price they are even at full RRP. Our general use workshop one cops an absolute beating (as all tools that aren't personally owned do) and its held up the whole time. Thats including drilling into tiles, concrete, steel and even used as a automatic brush for cleaning or buffing headlights. If I didn't already have a dewalt one I would buy one myself(probably will replace my DW with one when/if it dies)

    • company tools are always beaten on like a red headed stepchild.

Makita just comes back for more abuse.

Just saw this, a good step up again, assuming you already have batteries and charger..

Makita DHP486Z 18V Li-ion LXT Brushless Combi Drill - Batteries and Charger Not Included $179

    $325 at Bunnings for comparison..

  • I am planning to my first drill I have ozito power tools but just saw a few reviews on ozito drill were bad
So want to check with the experts is it better to buy this one instead of ozito drill ?
Is this a good deal or should I wait for Boxing Day will there be better ones ?

    • probably the same deal on boxing day.
i started with ozito when i was a noob, but as i improved, i switched to makita and use a one battery platform and makes life so much easier because i now use makita for work, diy, and lifestyle. that is what is great having only one battery for everything. i run my fans in the house in the summer and my radios, lights, etc… when i go camping. then all my tools at work.
ozito is good to start with or if you are a diy and only pick up maybe once a year. but if you use it more often then that, i would switch to makita.

  • newbie question. Is hammer drill cover normal drill needs as well or you buy this in additional to a normal drill? My current one stopped working. So, looking to buy new drill and thinking to might as well upgrade to this one
