thks bought a set, have had better luck undo philips with posidrive but philips on pozidrive screws not a good fit due to the angle of the blades and cam out design, then we have JIS , japanese industrial screws which look like philips but aren’t. don’t see bough JIS sets on special.as always though right tool is best.this set has ph and pz.
problem with philips is they are designed to be tightened and then cam out .. so to undo without damage is challenge with poor screw drivers.

Reading this hurts more than threading a screw.

      • there must be something wrong with me, because I read it without issue

    • +7

JIS are superior. they dont cam out and can be used on both JIS and PH!

look into Vessel screwdrivers. these are worth it

      • I didn't know you could use JIS on phillips screws. thanks for the heads-up

        • Better to JIS on philips screws than flat screws for sure. No one likes a flat screw.

      • Came here to say this. I always used to wonder why one of my old screwdrivers that I inherited always seemed to be the best fit and not cam out. Finally I bought a JIS set and wouldn't you know, that was the reason.

    • +5

      Too much drugs bro

    • I’ve found my Wera PZ drivers to not fit tightly in PH screws and so is more likely to chew them out.

      • Using a any PZ in a PH screw is the surest way to round out a screw head.

The picture Amazon put up is a little confusing, not showing the correct screwdrivers. For those curious, the kit comes with:

    • 80mm PH 1
    • 100mm PH 2
    • 80mm PZ 1
    • 1200mm PZ 2
    • 0.8 x 4 x 100mm Flathead
    • 1 x 5.5 x 125mm Flathead

Here is the link from Wera themselves with pictures

    • +1

      Thanks!

    • 1200mm PZ 2

That is gonna be one long screwdriver

      • Haha yeh my bad :)

  • Good price for just the pz 1 and 2 drivers. Anyone got alternatives?

    • +2

wera are great. Vessel screwdrivers are just better.

after finding out about Vessel. i went nuts and bought a bucketload of their drivers.

      • +1

My best set is probably a random Kincrome set i found for on clearance for $20 at Bunnings they have acetone handles and are full tang, they just feel so good and are solid. I have 2 sets of Wera screwdrivers one set is VDE and one normal but both are interchangeable bits not full tang the VDE set is fairly soft. I didn't need any more but i bought the Wiha wooden handle set they just look good lol.

        • This. Have a few wera but the shape and feel of the handles makes it seem cannot get enough grip vs acrylic handles

      • +2

i like vessel tips better than my wera but vessel don’t go on special often, and when they do it’s from amazon japan and deals expire quick.

      • +2

agree on the Vessel screwdrivers. I like that they are readily available as individual pieces for a fair price. I guess the above set is a good deal if you have no screwdrivers.

  • Can someone help me understand the difference between 932/6 and ‎334/6?

    • +3

from bing. The Wera 932/6 and 334/6 are both screwdriver sets, but they have some differences:

      Wera 932/6¹²:
      - This set is also known as the Chiseldriver set¹.
      - It is designed for fastening, chiselling, and loosening seized screws¹.
      - The set includes a hexagon blade out of high-quality bit material that extends right through the blade. This ensures full transfer of force, even when struck with a hammer¹.
      - It comes with an impact cap for enhanced service life and reduced risk of splintering¹.
      - More torque can be transferred with the help of an open-end or ring spanner applied to the integrated hexagonal bolster¹.
      - The set includes 2x 917 SPH Screwdriver for Phillips screws: PH 1x80 mm, PH 2x100 mm and 4x 932 A Screwdriver for slotted screws: 0.6x3.5x80 mm, 0.8x4.5x90 mm, 1x5.5x100 mm, 1.2x7x125 mm².

      Wera 334/6⁴⁵⁷:
      - This set features a Lasertip tip that literally bites into the head of the screw and thereby prevents any slipping⁴⁵.
      - It includes six meticulously crafted screwdrivers, catering to diverse tasks with remarkable precision and control⁵.
      - The set includes 2x 917 SPH Screwdriver for Phillips screws: PH 1x80 mm, PH 2x100 mm and 4x 932 A Screwdriver for slotted screws: 0.6x3.5x80 mm, 0.8x4.5x90 mm, 1x5.5x100 mm, 1.2x7x125 mm⁵.

In summary, the main difference between the two sets is that the Wera 932/6 is designed for heavy-duty work with its chiseldriver feature and impact cap, while the Wera 334/6 has a Lasertip tip for precision work.

        very helpful, thank you

      • Jaycar used to sell a gel with filings, that helped grip, when removing difficult screws. I cant recall the name, but I have seen similar on Amazon.

        • +1

you can use valve lapping paste to do that. it was probably the same thing

          • +1

@Jerrysberrys: You sir, are a genius/gem. I've been looking for something like this for ages, and the one designed for screws was @ $30.

I picked up some Valve grinding paste for $10.

            Kudos to you.

            ;)

        • You can just use either blutack or a section of rubber band on the end of your screwdriver to significantly increase the grip.

  • +3

TIL there are screwdriver people to sit alongside the torch people

    • +1

      It's fascinating to watch.

    • there's enthusiasts for just about every type of product at this point

    • The "retaining pin" (?) in a LTT Stubby Screwdriver would be a cool fidget feature to add to a torch.

  • +2

I'd get the yellow handled set. Through tang/striking cap is nice to have for slotted drivers.
No PH 3 in either set is a bit lame though.

  • +1

I bought this set about 9 months ago as a 2nd set to keep in my study. The tip material is already rusting. I don't recommend.

  • +2

The laser tip is absolutely gimmick , they perform great for first 100 screws from brand new, then they are worse than $2 shop screwdriver. The green handle soak oil like crazy, makes it disgusting to use.

Unfortunately these "design" catches people, if you looking for a set of nice looking screwdrivers go for it.

    • +1

Can confirm. I am 109 and those are indeed comments

    • +1

So many codgers rounding out the screws on old jap bikes.
Fun fact; Vessel screwdrivers aren't actually JIS anymore and are designed to work with both JIS and Phillips screws.

      • +1

I don't know the exact standard, but I did read into it at one point, and its my understanding that there is a newer standard that modern Vessel, and the Wera and other screwdrivers comply to, that basically works with JIS and standard philips screws.

The winner in this kit is the Pozidrive drivers, if you need them, and probably useless if you don't. I didn't need another full set of drivers, but I did want a couple of pozidrive drivers, as I have a bunch of screws that are pozidrive that is a pain every time I pull one out of the box.

        • Yeah, I don't think JIS even exists as a standard for screwdrivers anymore. Obviously you still want to use something like a Vessel screwdriver when dealing with things like old Japanese motorbikes though.

  • +1

Another screwdriver set. I'm going to get shot. ;)

    • I feel ya. I had no intention on buying another set of screwdrivers this morning, but I saw these, saw comment clarifying that they are the pozidrive set, and now, I've got another set of drivers on the way. lol

  • +1

I use these professionally, the lasertip is helpful even with good technique. But don’t buy this set, buy the standard set with Phillips heads not Pozidrive. Only buy pozidrive if you are actually driving pozidrive screws - don’t think they are interchangeable.
