    Got one, thanks OP

Great deal, and an excellent product

  • Is Wifi worth the extra $14?

    • +3

It would depend if you have the ability to run a PoE cable instead of just a wall pack

      • Do you mean wifi one doesn't need a cable?

        • The wifi one still needs power via a power pack, but you don't have to run a network cable to it.

    • +1

FYI, the wifi version has ethernet plug for data but no POE.

  • +1

Looks good! Does this bad boy work with HomeKit?

  • +1

Does Reolink have a battery version discounted as well?

    • You can always put a UPS on the Poe version. You'll need it anyway if you want your network to function during a power cut

      • Generally people want a battery option when routing cables isn't possible.

      • What's a UPS?

  • +2

Even better on the link below ~$88.57 AUD
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005288461349.html?source…

    • No AU plug

      • buy the US one, you don't need plug on POE

        • +2

          Us not shipped to au

        • It's for the chime. I'm guessing it's universal voltage though and an adaptor would do the job.

    • wow this is a mad deal, tried to edit my original post but wont let me

      Edit: even tracked $3.70 cashback

    • Before or after gst? Has gone up? Code won't apply either

      • +2

AliExpress algorithm kicked in and increased prices it appears. It was $88.57 after gst

  • I know this is unrelated (kinda), but does anyone think there's any value in getting a Google Doorbell still? I keep holding off because I keep seeing comment that they're going to update and release a new one or that the nest ecosystem is going to go or something.

That plus, while I don't mind the battery version, spoke to a sparky apparently it's annoying to get the special transformer needed for the wired version (although I thought I did see it at Jaycar before).

Wow, that's cheap. Paid 150 for it earlier this year. Great device, works well with Blue Iris. Also have it via the Reolink app for the push notifications.

    • I'm using BI as well, with some Reolink cameras. I've had to stuff around a lot because they haven't included iframes in their firmware - are you seing any lagging with this? Can you use dual streams? I'd like to get one but more stuffing around in BI really doesn't appeal much!

      • +1

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't have to do too much stuffing around for the iframes. I have everything on the latest firmware which I think helps. Dual streams works fine, I have it recording continuous on the secondary stream and then on trigger I have it record the primary. My only complexities came about because my BI is inside a VM on proxmox so I had to deal with virtualisation of the hardware acceleration - q-sync or whatever Intel calls it.

  • never seen a POE powered door bell before interesting

  • I'm using the Ring system. What's everyones thoughts on Reolink? My gripe with ring is that the camera quality's pretty poor compared to Reolink and other competitors. But the only good thing that I appreciate are the notifications and push notifications and how I can control it. I appreciate being able to get a push notification with a screenshot.

  • +1

Hope it integrates easily into my BI system, as pulled the trigger and ended up paying $103.53 in the end

  • +1

I'm getting $117 for the wifi version and can't use the code :(

  • Thinking of getting this for my parents. They got burnt buying the ring doorbell.
I imagine I'd need to get them a reolink NVR to get the most out of it (or to work at all?) (I wouldn't set blue iris up for them).

    • +1

Works fine without NVR, but recording will be limited to onboard SD card or to an FTP server.

  • Au plug out of stock it seems. Can someone else confirm as well. Or is it just me

    • Confirming

    • Single POE unit with AU plug out of stock. Picked up the two pack with AU plug which makes it ~$100 per unit.
I only need one so happy to sell to someone for $100 with pickup in Melbourne. PM if interested

  • Bought the wifi version for $117. Thinking of cancelling and waiting for the POE version. Need to work out if I can run POE to the doorbell.

  • How long does the battery last for this doorbell

    • No battery, it has to be hardwired

  • Stock is now available. If anyone wants to order. Cost me $100.6

  • +4

If anyone still wants to buy the AU Plug version, use this URL:
    https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005288461349.html

It's the exact same listing of the same product. It's just this listing doesn't have the discount applied yet.

You might be able to get extra cashback from Cashrewards or ShopBack (not sure how reliable their tracking is).
I bought from the above URL. When added to cart, got a discount of US$ 16.00 ($3.00 from coins) applied and used the code PTOT4 which reduced another US $4.00. Ended up paying US $57.17 which is about AU $90.92 via PayPal (paid in USD).

Edit: got Cashrewards noti that tracking is available now, AU $3.94. So in total paid about AU $86.98.

  • which wires do I use from my existing video doorbell wires? https://ibb.co/xhtXh22

  • Does anyone know if there’s a battery version of the Reolink? I’ve been told that the sparky can’t drop a line nor POE down the brick wall as he can’t find a cavity.

Anyone had that happen before and / or know what solution they had to get this working?

    • There is not a battery version.

  • Anyone know which options good battery equivalent branded video doorbell?

    • +1

      Username doesn't check out? :)

As far as subscription free recording goes, Eufy has some battery video doorbell options. Their 2K one isn't in the same price range as it requires the Homebase to record, but they have a cheaper 1080p that records to SD card on the chime inside the house.

I wouldn't bother with any of the off-brand battery ones you might find on Aliexpress etc.
