Please help Recommend 55" Budget TVs under $1000

Hi all!!! I am looking to buy a new 55" TV for my living room. My budget is not to go over $1000.

I dont game!! TV mainly used to watch Free To Air TV, youtube, Netflix and occasional sports.

I am liking the Hisense 55inch A7KAU for $795 but open to recommendations from users.

If anyone has the above model and can help with the pros and cons.

Thanks All!!

plenty of decent options under 1K for 55", best to try and stack with gift cards to bring the prices to or under your budget.

Click Frenzy is next week and Black Friday is not long after that.

Get one that supports zoned backlighting for a better HDR experience. A lot of 55 inch TVs at that price have old fashioned uniform backlighting. And they might look fine, they might look great, but individual parts of the screen won't literally glow or dim as required.

    • Thanks for the response. For a noob in the above budget which TV has the zones backlighting ??

I thought they were only available in the More expensive QLEDs and OLEDs.

  • If you can get the base model 55 inch Samsung below or at $1000 then go for that. Great entry level TV's much better than TCL or Hisense.

  • I dont have much knowledge about TV technology!! But only samsung in that range are the 3 year old models!! But Hisense and TCL i can get the 2023 model.

My thinking is that the technology of 2023 model should be better than the Samsung which is al least 3 year old?? I may be wrong and am happy to be pointed in the right direction.

Any particular Samsung model that is good? I can try haggling the price in store.

  • For under 1K get this one: Hisense 55" U6KAU
I just got it recently it as it used mini LED technology much sharper and clearer when viewing from angles. Worth the money.

    • Thanks for this info!!! Will definitely look into this mode. If you dont mind me asking what price did u buy it for? So i can have an idea if we can negotiate with the stores.

I paid $948 at the Good Guys, they usually have the online price check and Price Beat on their website above the add to cart as I can see it's currently $954. It's much more vivid in colours and smooth than my mate's Sony 55" X77L with the same price range as you would have to pay twice as much with the big brands for mini LED. Smooth motion rate for watching sports as well.
