Aussie Broadband Lowers Prices on Speeds 100/20 and Above

Been meaning to chase up Aussie Broadband recently for a reduced price, considering competition is cheaper and they are consistently offering new sign up deals. To my surprise they beat me to the punch. Got this in my inbox. Hopefully other companies follow suit!

Yep, you read that right - we love passing on the value to our customers and giving them some good news.
From 21 November 2023, your Opticomm 1000Mbps/50Mbps Unlimited ($149) plan is coming down to $129.

In recent months, you may have heard about the review and variation to NBN’s Special Access Undertaking (SAU).The SAU sets the industry standard for wholesale pricing, including their own structure for NBN plans until 2040.

Throughout the drawn-out process of developing this new SAU, we have been championing our customers, including the need to make high-speed internet more accessible and affordable. NBN’s newly revised SAU supports this, resulting in a reduced cost for our highest speed plans, yours included.

We recognise that you may be wondering how the NBN SAU affects an Opticomm service. While the SAU does not affect Opticomm customers directly, as outlined above, it does set the industry standard for wholesale pricing.
With this in mind, we have aligned Opticomm and NBN plans.

    NBN fixed wireless

      Typical evening speeds 25/4
      Pathetic

    • Same here. Stupid thing is we have a node point on the corner of our block PLUS a fibre cable going right past the place but I'm not 'allowed' to move from FW for some reason.

    • Me too. From $79 to $85.

Crazy as a few people in my area are going to Telstra 5G and getting amazing speeds 500mbps. It should be making fixed wireless cheaper.

  • Not me, I'm on FTTN and can't get the speeds of the higher plans so my price has increased :(

  • 100/40 went down from $109 to $105
However, I can upgrade and get 500/50 from Leaptel for $99/month for 12mths

    • Superloop 1000/50 for $99 for first 6 months. I get around 870mbps down using vpn.

  • Code speed20 for more discount

'SPEED20 is for new customers or if you haven't used Aussie BB in the last 6 months. The code works online and over the phone.'

  • Mine went up also. Came here looking for an alternative. $85/month (up from $79)

Edit: Looks like I can upgrade to a better deal for $89…which would see me paying $10 a month more.

Seriously, how the (profanity) is internet costing us money in 2023?!

    NBN Home Ultrafast (1000/50Mbps)

    149 down to 129.

i am positively punching the air now in absolute euphoria. abb has been great - though i wish there was a better upload speed for the money.

it's bullshit that it isn't 1000/400 for FTTP

      • Yeah, crazy that it's only 1000/50.

      • You can get that with a business plan.
Trying to figure out what you need to do to qualify for one? Just ask? Or an ABN?

        • +1

Do they tear you a new one in regards to price?

          • @bohn: At the 100/40 it's the same price, I just realised they actually do have a 100/40 personal plan. Does cost a bit for the 1000/400 at $429 a month.

        • With Aussie BB you need an ABN for 1000/400.

Future Broadband and Launtel don't require an ABN for 1000/400.

Lucky we broke that monopoly that Telstra had I guess. :)

  • Probably because Aussie aren't the only ones offering NBN at this speed anymore. Man I miss gigabit fibre :(

  • Awesome, can not fault the 1000/50 - worth every $.

    • I'd fault the /50 part. In this day, where a significant chunk of population works from home, submitting work (which on some days is tens or even hundreds of GB) is tedious with such slow upload speeds.

      • Agree - would be nice, as for WFH - Org not running a RDP etc farm I take it.

    • The /50 part is appallingly bad if your a professional attempting to get work done after hours at home.

  • Mine also went up $6, for the 50/20 plan.

This is basically forcing me to go to 100/20 as my plan has gone up $6, and the 100/20 plan has gone down to $95.

    • Yeah, same here, I dropped from 100/40 to 50/20 when they reduced the upload speed on the 100 plan. Tempting to go to 100/20 now it is only $10 more, but didn't really notice the speed difference going down, so probably $10 that can be better spent elsewhere. More tempting to stretch to $20 and get back to the 40 upload though.
