So let's try to DDOS Eventbrite on Monday!

FAQ (updated as people ask questions):

Q: How do I buy a ticket if I'm on the waitlist from last year?

A: Enter your email address that you used on Eventbrite (not OzBargain) in the promo code area from 1201AM 30/10.

Q: Can I just get a t-shirt if we meet out front?

A: Due to the large amount of people attending, we can't do this for this meetup. Better to request at other meetups.

Q: Soft drinks are great but can I have a beer/wine/tequila shot?

A: Yes, drinks can be purchased from the bar.

Q: Why is the meetup not free?

A: According to the Internet which is always right, if you don't charge for an event ~50% of attendees will not show/cancel. If a small fee is involved, this number drops to 20-30%. We've run events where they were free and there were a lot of cancellations/no shows. Not only does this screw everything up with organizing the venue but also makes it difficult to cater for food.

Q: Can family/partners/friends attend?

A: Each person can buy 2 tickets but everyone needs to have an OzBargain account.

Q: Are there any age limits?

A: There is no age limit.

Q: Do I have to be identified or can I attend anonymously?

A: Eventbrite captures your first and last name however you can put in any name to want. So first name Tight, Last Name Arse is fine. :)

Q: Will there be meetups in other cities?

A: Yes, see meetups below.

Q: Where can I park?

A: QV, $12 after 5pm. The Strand next door?

Q: Can I pay at the door?

A: No, this is a cash-free event.

Q: Can I get a refund?

A: Yes.

Q: What time does the event go until?

A: The event officially ends at 8PM but the venue should be open until 1030pm.

    Is @jv attending?

I’m sure @Muzeeb will convince @jv this during the usual meetup.

    • +5

It's not a Collingwood game so going to go with no.

    • +2

I'll chat to jv at this week's BBQ on Friday.

      • Have you actually ever met the man?

        • -2

          JV is a woman

        • +2

          Yes. Great guy.

    • -3

      Is @jv attending?

She'll be making an appearance at one of the Sydney meetups ;)

      • +3

That negger is going to look really stupid when I say I told you so at photo time 😏

        • I wonder if it’s Jv that’s negging all these comments.

  • Hooray for Fortress, thanks for organising again Neil!

If I can get a spot I'll wear my t-shirt!

Which t-shirts are available this year? Is 2021/2022 available?

I like the 2023 colour and I know it's a joke but… are the non-bargain bikies style forum posts really how we want to represent ourselves haha?

    • +1

      • Nice, super informative as usual Neil!

      • Oh cool - how do we get a tshirt?

I'm a waitlister, will jump on at 1201

        • It's on the order form when you sign up for a ticket.

  • Hope to attend this one!

  • Never been, but there's a first time for everything. Looking forward to (hopefully) going. Thanks!

  • Hoping forward to attending first time as well

  • Excellent, I'm keen as a mung bean. So event finishes at 8pm as per this post but the Eventbrite ticket says 9pm?

The starting time is 5pm or 6pm?

    • 6PM-8PM but you can stay in the venue until close at 10:30pm. We just won't have free access to the booths, drinks or boardgames after 8pm.

  • I'm super keen on this - missed out for the last couple of years so hopefully lucky this time around.
→ I have the feeling that having hundreds of places each year, still wouldn't be enough! 😋

  • +4

OK, tickets are now open to those on the 2022 waitlist. You should have received an email from me earlier in the day. You need to enter the email address that you used to sign up for Eventbrite in the access code field.

EDIT: Can see tickets being sold so looks like it's working!

  • EDIT: Fixed now

Hi Neil, I'm on the presale list, went to checkout but backed out to look at the tshirts, went back in and now I get this message when I try to checkout:

"Your requested ticket quantity exceeds the number provided by your promotional code."

EDIT: Stopped trying for a few minutes and then went back in and the problem solved itself. See you there 🥳

  • Happy 17th Birthday OzB :D
    woot woot !!

  • Reminder

Each person attending needs to have an OzBargain account. I've seen 3 people put their username for both tickets which means I'm going to have to contact you to get that fixed up.

  • Are tickets already sold out or?

I went to get some just now from the presale for last year's waitlisters and it says unavailable?

    • Still available and I can see your email address active for pre-sale.

      • When I click the link in the email or the link in this list it takes me to the Eventbrite page but the tickets in the bottom left say "unavailable". Is there somewhere else I should be putting the code in or?

Sorry for the hassle, I'm assuming it's just on my end so might try my PC as I've only tried my phone so far.

        • +1

Both mobile and desktop show an orange Get Tickets button. Maybe pop a screenshot here?

        • +1

I found if you log into Eventbrite via a web browser and then go back and click the link it will bring you to the live page. Then enter your email address as the access code. Worked for my thanks for organising again @Neil

        • Okay I found the orange button on my PC so I got my ticket. Assuming all the medium shirts are sold out though?

Thanks for the help and organisation Neil.

          • @Crablecakes: Yep, only had 4 available for this meetup due to others already allocated to other meetups. See comment above

  • I wish there were more XL T shirt. I didnt get one last year as well.
    Registered. Super excited.

  • Ordered, thanks so much again @neil

  • Ordered. See everyone there. Thank Neil.

  • Thanks Neil for organising! Excited to be there :)

  • Ordered, thanks Neil!

  • Neil, the man and I are a couple of retired Boomers. If you need a couple of volunteers to help with anything just PM me.

    • OK Boomer(s)!

      • Will need help checking people in which will see if silverrat23 can help again.
      • Not entirely sure how this will work but would be good to get gaming comps going in the booths so at least we can rotate different people through there. So someone to check off names or something? No idea. Something you'd be interested in?
      • Happy to stand by with a clipboard and a list of names. Happy to lay out food and drinks. What time do you want us there to get our jobs assigned? Maybe we can get people to sign up for a block of time in a games booth and they are booted after the allocated time?

        • Food and drink, the staff will distribute so probably fine there.

We may have some prizes to give out if I can sort something out with Creative. I'm thinking maybe have a sign up sheet on entry, one comp on each booth, starting 630, 4 players at a time. So from 630, just a roll call of usernames/first names, 4 at a time if that's OK.

          • @neil: Sounds good. Do you want us there earlier than 6? If not we will rock up then.

          • @neil: I should be avail to help as well if you need more people.
            will work for food

  • YEAH! got a ticket. but all the normal sized blue tshirts are gone.
    XXL for me.

  • Thanks.
I'm in but too bad no 2023 t-shirts are available for my XXL frame.

    • You can have my XXL.
might take a small if there are any left for me

      • There was small in 2023 when I was checking out.
        I had to get a 2022 XXL 😔

        • I am usually a M. but some smalls fit me.
I will happy trade my 2023 blue xxl for your 2022 xxl.

  • surprised there were a few tickets left. finally have a excuse to visit fortress😀

  • -6

Another year on the waitlist. Promo code didn't work for me.

Suggestion, please give us a day to get tickets before everyone else.

    • +2

You had a full 12 hours start over everyone else who was not on the waitlist? I was able to get tickets comfortably without being on it. Person above you ordered tickets more than 24 hours after general tickets were available?

      • If it were 12pm to midnight I could've, unfortunately due to it being midnight to midday I couldn't manage to get a ticket. This is just my personal circumstances.

    • Did you try to PM Neil? There were still tickets for hours afterwards you could’ve got one during the general access time period.

      • Nah, it's all good. I did jump on during general access and had no luck either.

    • I've opened up the waitlist ticket to you. Click on the link through the Eventbrite email.

      • Thanks Neil, but I was too slow. I'm not stressed about attending.

  • Seems my last comment was taken way too seriously by some, it was my honest feedback.

Thanks for organising guys, maybe see y'all next year.

  • So regrettably I have fallen ill so won't be able to make it tonight. Happy to pass on my ticket/spot to someone else if that's possible at all?

    • Sorry to hear. Please go to Eventbrite and make a cancellation request so I can open it up to the next person on the waitlist.

      • I had a poke around and I don't see a way to make a cancellation request on the app. The refund function seems grayed out as it is less than 1 day before the event. I sent a message about the ticket/event on Eventbrite as well. Not fussed about the refund, just want to try and cancel the ticket so someone else could possible go in my stead.

        • +1

OK, leave it with me and I'll sort it out.

  • Hi Neil,

just joined waiting list, wondering is it too late to hop in?

    • Sorry, we're at capacity.

  • +1

Anyone else checking ozbargain during the ozbargain meet up??

    • Yes, has anyone found JV yet?

      • No..
        Did JV attend???

        • +3

Probably didn't attend because they were not bold enough to say hi to us.

          • +2

@silverrat23: Funny how the JV Mario Kart tourney got cut off 5 minutes before 8pm.
            Typical of JV.

    • Yup. Having a good time.

  • +1

Thanks Neil for organising this huge event!
Had a blast meeting you all, see you next year!

  • +1

Yes absolutely thanks @neil for arranging. Great venue, great food, great organisation and great atmosphere. Partner and I had a great time.

  • +1

Big kudos to the volunteers and Neil especially for organising such an amazing night.

Those playing games looks more encouraging even though it’s in a short period of time.

Congrats to the winners tonight anyway.

Many happy returns of the day, Ozbargain sweet 17th!

Keep it up all and see you soon.

  • +5

Big thank you to neil and all the volunteers for organising the event!

Can't wait until next year when OzBargain turns 18 and is allowed into the clubs.

    • +1

So next year's event is going to be at Revolver Upstairs?
