How to Fix Brother Printer No Toner Error?

I purchased a brother printer HL-L2350DW and when the cartridge ran out, I purchased a generic one from eBay. It worked well for a year. I may have done about 100-150 prints after replacing the cartridge, now it is showing No Toner error. It says Open the Front Cover and install Toner Cartridge.

I have tried to remove and re install cartridge, but the error doesn't go away.

Does anyone know to fix this error?

    Guessing you updated your firmware?

No fix i've ever found apart from buying new cartridges that have updated chips. I stopped updating to get around this.

    • I did not update the firmware since I purchased. I never logged in to the admin portal of printer.
Could it have been updated automatically?

From a brief flick over a couple pages it sounds like your printer updated firmware and is now looking for the chip to verify genuine toner cartridge.

    • Maybe but its not at all connected to internet.

  • Had a similar issue with a different model. I resolved it. Solution was in the user manual. (and it was a non genuine toner)

What did Google and YOUR user manual say to do?

EDIT: That solution may also have originated online.
    EDIT2> Any use>?

    • Thank you for the advice.

I do not have the manual unfortunately.
The link is not at all useful and doesn't work as shown.

  • Ahh this is probably a good reason why you should keep your authentic toner just to test if it's a firmware thing.

    • I wasn't aware, I threw it away.

    • Thank you I tried this 2 times but didn't work.

  • is the cartridge actually out of toner?

have you done the "shakey-shakey" with the cartridge prior to reinstalling?

  • On our old Brother we have to manually reset the toner counter to get it to work again. I'm guessing the original toner have a chip inside that does the reset. Google/Youtube the method for the counter reset for your machine.

    • I think OP is out of their league with this. None of the ideas linked that do the job he needs done , has been successful, under their attempts. If the printer is functional I suspect the OP is VERY tech challenged and is probably missing steps or not paying attention. They did not even try shaking the cartridge,LOL.
