TCL 75" C845 Mini LED 4k Google TV $2220 + Delivery ($0 to Selected Cities) @ Appliances Central

120

TCL 75" C845 at a decent price. Question always is: pull the trigger now, or wait until Black Friday in the hope of a better deal? (edit: and available stock)

$100 cash back from TCL might apply (see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/802842)

JB are selling it for $2895 less 20% discount = $2,316, plus delivery, but has $100 gift card. Could try getting them to price match.

Previously on OzBargain in July for $2475.72 (with basic soundbar) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786242
The C835 has been as low as $1595 in April https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770103, probably to clear out before this model landed

  • I tried price matching this at AO to get the $200 instant cashback they're offering and got turned down, oh well.

You can price match to TGG - $2371-$200 cashback on AO delivered. TCL $100 cashback once eligible. Happy with it for $2071 our budget was 2k for a 75''.
Edit: Apparently no stock now though :(

      • Tried again with TGG link but AO still only price matched down to $2371 :/

      • How are people getting the AO cash back on top of price match? I can't get them to do it with online chat

  • No stock until December for appliances Online

  • I was tossing up between this tv and the 85"C745, I purchased the 85"C745 for $2066 +$59 delivery at Appliances Online with November/December delivery.
With AO I can cancel the order anytime before delivery, so if prices drop for Black Friday and it isnt delivered yet, I will cancel and reorder at lower price.

Still not sure if I should have gone the C845 75".

    • I always say Picture Quality > Screen Size but each to their own.

      • I have been trying to find reviews between the two whilst C845 is the better model there seems to be some pretty happy customers with the C745 so with that in mind I went for size. But im going into JB today and i'll inspect in person

Pretty much the same TV. The C845 has the build in subwoofer.

        • This is the best thing to do. I believe the C845 is brighter with more dimming zones.

      • It depends, I bought an LG 77" OLED for 3 grand BUT it was nearly double the price of a 75" TCL mini LED.

You can't buy a 97" OLED for reasonable money so then you have to compromise, perhaps you can purchase an 83" OLED for the same price of a 98" mini LED but the screen size is not the same.

Would I buy a 98" mini LED over an 83" OLED? Yes

Would I buy a 98" FALD to pocket the savings over a mini LED? No.

I see around that 100" as the end game and would have no hesitation pulling the trigger around 5 grand IF I didn't already have the 77" OLED.

My current TV is simply a place holder until the 97-100" mini LEDs improve and drop in price but I don't realistically see OLEDs in that size being a consideration for perhaps a decade.

Sure enough they will keep dropping and getting better as time goes on,

        Would I buy a 98

        • See for me, your LG is an absolute no brainer and what I would have chosen as well. Yes, TCL's are very good TV's but OLED will always win IMO as I prefer perfect blacks to ridiculously bright highlights which will result in blooming and black crush. Maybe Micro LED will be a true competitor to OLED when it hits the consumer market.

        • What do you think of the 100" Hisense mini QLED - https://www.videopro.com.au/product/hisense-100-u7kau-series…

  • I have the C835 and can't be happier, I mainly use it for PS5 and Apple TV, and not much over-the-air content. Now my friend is in the market, tossing up the X90L and C845, given that the X90L has a noticeable improvement, I am not sure which is a better buy now. Not much comparison review is available.

    • For $200 more from JB I would go 75X90L.

Unless you can find a place to price match and provide cashback + TCL cashback (AO $2071 for me but there is no stock now).

      • I agree…the 90L is indeed stunning even it's not mini-led, I can instantly tell that it has better colour accuracy, that's why myself even not sure anymore. The problem is his budget was 1500, as a friend, I pushed it to 2000….. so $2200 is already a stretch, I don't think he will buy Sony for $2400…

Thanks for the tip. I did some research and the Sony is better for the kind of viewing I want to do: mostly FTA and movies.

Sony has it for $2396, less 10% for signing up to My Sony = $2156.40 delivered.

There's also 9% cashrewards today but the terms suggest using a coupon code will invalidate the cashback.

    • Probably depends on what his use case.

I have the 75" C835, mainly for console games and streaming services, I am quite happy with it except for the Dolby vision, Bright is too bright and Dark is too dark, IQ suits us the best but then it has the issue with motion smooth (you see blocks around people when the scene is fast moving). I wish it had allow more options in Dolby Vision so we can adjust the brightness and disable all motion smooth functions.

The other thing is that you just can't watch sports over free to air channels due to the same issue above. We were watching the women's world cup and it surprised me our 7yo Panasonic (with Firefox OS) did a better job than it.

      • Sounds like you need calibration

      • THIS! I don't do much Dolby vision I can't comment on this but I do notice the milky cloudy surrounding areas around the bright part, and the motion is not as smooth as expected but I am happy with it (way better than my old Hisense). Inspected X90L in-store recently I really like it, it is better than my C835, but not sure about the C845.

      • In the settings there is a sports mode, you can enable. Try that and see if it is better.

        • If you are talking about the picture modes e.g. movie, sports, gaming…etc, no it doesn't really help. Other than making the screen brighter and grass much more greener (to the extent you feel they are fake 🤣), it doesn't improve the motion quality.

          • @davidl820: There is a dedicated 'Sports mode' in the setting, you can enable. It's under system, I think. I will check once I go back home.

            • @simonizmaster: It is under the system, next to the 'game master' options. i.e I found out that if you enable sports mode, you can't change the picture modes. So disable to select/change the picture modes.

              • @simonizmaster: Thanks for that. I will have a go and see if it improves the motion issue when watching sports.

just so it saves next persons valuable time, AO only will match $2220 - in their defence $200 cash back is from TCL according to them where this selling is not included on sale item. they wont go any lower than that.

  • Hope this model is better than the 75" 8k (75x925) version. The display panel on mine busted in the 13th month.

    • TCL offers 3yr warranty. You can try contacting for warranty process.

  • Fairly good TV, got my inch 65C845 a week ago. so bright, miniled is quite impressed.

Just for achieve the best price, I ask Jb to do the price match $1,535, check out with TCN gift cards(got them 10%), bring it down to 1380, + $100 JB GIFTCARD + 6 MONTH KAYO around $80 = around $1200.

But I failed to claim the TCL cashback, (Beacsue JB is not in their seller list?) otherwise you can get another $100 off.

At this price, it is way too compeitetable.

But first TV I got, it got backlight faults, luckly get replaced with Jb in 2 days, please be ware of it.

    • Did JB also match free delivery?

      • Im not sure, I ordered online and pick it up form the store, but in the previous post I saw, probably they can match the free delivery.
