    For some context:

    • Trying to claim Metroid Prime Remastered on the Australian eShop gives you 60 Gold Points, which is worth $0.60 of price reduction in whatever you're buying.
    • Claim Metroid Prime Remastered in the Agentina eShop, and you'd be offered 308 Gold Points instead, which is 50% more points than you need for this deal.

So yeah, this basically works out to be around $0.40.

    P.S.
Blasphemous + Blasphemous 2 Bundle is $68.95 on the Australian eShop.

Love this game series but man I am not good at this type of game

    • Happy for you to buy it for me as I’m good at this game.

    • Would love to be able to play these games but yeah, I suck pretty hard and even the little minions that are supposed to be cannon fodder in the tutorials and stuff mess me up.

  • how to get gold point to redeem this game? you have to purchase some games?

I've posted the details in my post for Crypt of the NecroDancer for 90 Gold Points, but the basic idea:

      • Find game cart for Nintendo Switch games that have been released less than a year ago.
      • Insert card, + button, scroll down to the My Nintendo Rewards Programme > Earn Gold Points.
      • Claim the points against your Argentina Nintendo account.

You'd get something like 462 points for full priced games like Fire Emblem Engage, and 308 points for lower priced games like Metroid Prime Remastered.

In the Australian eShop, the same games will only give you 80 points and 60 points (equivalent to $0.80 and $0.60).

thank you. finally opened my still-sealed tears of the kingdom bought on release and claimed 500ish points.

        • You're welcome.

I'd also suggest checking through your physical game collection, and starting from the oldest games (released up to around 13~14 months ago), and start checking through if you can claim the points on those.

Normally Gold Points can only be claimed within 12 months of a game's release, and will also expire 12 months after being earned.

Claiming your points in the Argentina eShop probably gives you the most value for money so to speak (since you're already at this point). But even on the Australia eShop, every unclaimed physical game cart is worth $0.50 to $1.00, so it's good to keep track of what games might have points that will expire soon.

      • Wait, are you saying you hold your physical cart points to claim only on remote stores at a later time ( within 1 year) or are you saying that a physical cart can be used to claim points once on each store ( ie multiple times).

Also if you have points left over you can't switch back stores right?

        • Wait, are you saying you hold your physical cart points to claim only on remote stores at a later time ( within 1 year) or are you saying that a physical cart can be used to claim points once on each store ( ie multiple times).

Games can only be claimed within 1 year of the game's release. But once claimed, it also has 1 year from that date before the points expire.
As long as you keep track of which games you haven't claimed, claiming the points later effectively doubles the timeframe in which you can use the points.

Anyway, I'm not sure about the exact mechanism, but each game cart can only be claimed once regardless of the region.

Also if you have points left over you can't switch back stores right?

That's why I recommend just creating new accounts specifically for separate regions.
          EDIT:
I think it's technically having an eShop balance that could lock your account to a region, while Gold Points shouldn't. But to play it safe, I prefer just setting up alternative accounts for different regions.

  • Not working for me. I created the new account and changed it to arg but it gives me some error about I can't redeem gold coins in this region.

    • some physical games are region locked, maybe those games are not released in Argentina so you cant claim points.

    • Did you create the Argentina account online, then link it to your Switch after? Or did you create it on the Switch?

My recommended process (which I've successfully used for accounts across multiple regions):
      1) Create a new Nintendo account.
      2) Put in all the necessary details to create an account, setting your "Country/region of residence" to Argentina.
      3) On your Switch, go to System Settings > User > Add User > Create New User, then you should be able to link the accounts.
      4) You may have to log into the eShop at least once with the new user profile, just to make sure the new account recognises your Switch as the primary device.
      5) Insert a game cart to your Switch, press the + button, scroll down to the My Nintendo Rewards Programme > Earn Gold Points, then choose the new user profile for the points to go to.
      6) When you try to buy the game, it should give you the option to use Gold Points to reduce the price. In this case, 90 Gold Points brings it down to $0.00.

Also, not all games can be claimed for Gold Points on the Argentina eshop. Games over 12 months old generally won't work either, and may sometimes give you different error message when the problem is that the claim period is already over.

      • Yes I have several accounts. It's front mission 1st so you're probably right. I don't have any other unredeemed points tho so I guess I have to miss this one

Thanks for these instructions @pj1351 I was getting stuck but this worked a charm.

  • Will try when I back home. Hope it stays that price.

  • yoo what a catch

  • I just switched my AU account to Argentina. t's telling me the price is $102,50 is that correct? I can't see anything about it being in Argentine pesos

    • correct

      • +2

Thanks. And I am being offered 231 gold points for Mario Wonder.

All done, worked a charm. Thanks OP.

I have 160 points but it's saying 160 points = $80. So I need more than 90 points? Edit: ah I see it costs 205 points.

    • +1

Sorry, I only just realised that my recommended process mentioned 90 points (which is applicable to Crypt of the Necrodancer, where I copied the steps from), not the 205 points for this specific deal.

  • I made a new account and got it successfully, if I delete the new account from the switch will I lose access to the game?

    • Yes, for sure.

  • Thanks OP, will try it later today!

  • Really wanted to do this, but sadly no unclaimed gold points!

  • +1

How did you even find this op? Claimed my gold for zelda and now I own both these games! Badly wanted these but couldn't justify the price, thank you so so much.

  • Thanks for sharing this deal!

For anyone wondering like I was, you can only use gold points in the currency/region where they were earned (source: https://www.nintendo.com.au/support/articles/can-i-redeem-go…).

I was wondering whether I could switch my AU account to Argentina, claim the gold points, then switch back to AU and use any remaining gold points, but clearly that's not possible, as above.

    • +1

Yes, gold points will remain in that region because it worth different value in different regions.

    • Yep that's right. The 30 or so remaining points from claiming Mario Wonder will probably go to waste. But who cares as this deal was outstanding value.
