  • Does this work for transferring Westpac Altitude points to Velocity every month over 3 months (Nov, Dec, Jan) ?
I have 500k Altitude points which I have no idea what to use them for.. is this a good way to use them?
I am confused with all these points game lol

    • If you are planning to book a reward seat with Virgin or their partners in the near future then transferring them to Velocity is a good idea.

      • Thanks for your suggestion.
I do have plan to use velocity points. Atm I have around 160k, thinking of redeeming for next year / xmas break fam holiday.

Bit off topic, when do reward seats usually start being offered? I heard a year before depature date, is that correct?
Do I simply go to airline website and try to find ticket in normal manner?

Sorry I am bit new to this point game!

        Cheers

        • +1

Normally, rewards seats are open between 330 to 355 days before departure depending on the Airline. You can redeem Velocity points on Virgin Australia and its partner Airlines like Singapore Air, Qatar, United, and many more.

You can book using the Virgin Australia website by selecting the "Use points" toggle while doing the search.

          • @ThePointsGuru: hey mate, since you are knowledgeable in this point game thing, may I ask more please if you don't mind?

do you know if there is such thing as alert system when it comes to reward seats, e.g. it notifies me when rewards seat open, or give a heads-up x number of days/week prior so that I dont miss out?

also, do you think I should convert all my Westpac Altitude to Velocity at this time to take advantage of the 20% bonus pts, or should I wait for better deal (assuming there is a higher bonus pts) ?
Or, save some to convert for Qantas FF points as well rather than all-in Velocity?

Your advice is much appreciated for a newbie like myself.
            Thanks!

              @OzFrugie:

Some services, like ExpertFlyer and maybe seats.aero? But they're not simple to use

also, do you think I should convert all my Westpac Altitude to Velocity at this time to take advantage of the 20% bonus pts, or should I wait for better deal (assuming there is a higher bonus pts) ?

Definitely worth it. Don't think you can transfer to QFF from Westpac rewards.

              • @Autonomic: Thanks mate for your insights.

Do reward seats work for high season eg xmas period or they have blackout period?

  • Interesting if someone can do the calcs on AMEX now KF is devalued, if still better off going AMEX to KF or via Velocity.

    • I did the calc just now - it's better to do it with this bonus. The transfer rate with Amex to KF is 3:1, whereas via Velocity it will be 2.58:1. It used to be 2:1, so it's clearly not as good as that (it would need to be a ~50% bonus to be that good), but better than 3:1.

  • I just worked out how to do an automated transfer directly to Virgin, I'd been doing it via Flybuys the whole time.

  • What if you manully transfer from different banks for each month?

    • +1

      Below is from the FAQ's

Yes, if you manually transfer from one of the Participating Partners in November, you can choose to transfer from this partner again, or from different Participating Partners in December and January.

  • Wonder what's the cycle of month auto transfer ?

Just opted in for auto , but bit afraid that if I miss the transfer cycle this month as it's already Nov, then won't be qualifed for 3 months thing?

Or I guess opt in after 1/11 ,should be enough ?

    Thanks!!

  • +2

Will I still get the 20% bonus with auto transfer if I close my ANZ credit card right after my points auto transfer? It makes no mention of this scenario in the terms and conditions.

    • Might have to phone them up and ask if not in the t and c.

  • have you got your bonus points after auto transfer from ANZ?
I am also planning to close my ANZ credit card now.

  • How long does it take to receive bonus points after receiving base points? I am asking regarding Auto transfer?

    Thank you

  • Just went into Citi rewards to perform a manual transfer, and for Velocity points, it actually has an 'autosweep' function.. surprised Velocity didn't put them on the auto-transfer bucket.

    • If I transfer from Citibank today, when do you think they will receive? Does the transferred points need to be in Velocity account by 31/11/23?

      • +1

The transfer just needs to be initiated by 31/11/23. Points landed 2 days after my transfer, and I got a confirmation email 1 day after the points landed.

        • Thanks (:

  • Can anyone share their experience with ANZ rewards Auto Transfer? I’m wondering:

    1. If I activate Auto Transfer and then close my card, will I still get the bonus points?

    2. Does Auto Transfer apply to points already in my account, or just to points earned after turning it on?

Would really appreciate any insights on this

  • I had 120k points in my Nab account and transferred to Velocity yesterday. Only received 60k VFF points. No bonus 20%

    • +1

Was it automatically done or manual ?

Also you may or may not be eligible if it was a new card got during the promo - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14506880/redir

Bonus points will be credited on 29/02/2024

      • It was automatically applied. Thanks for the heads up.

    • The you need to do it 3 months in a row to get the bonus points

  • I forgot about this offer until today. ANZ Rewards takes up to 5 business days for the transfer apparently. Is it too late for me and I should just wait for the next offer?

    Edit: Looks like not necessarily:
    T&Cs:

Members must initiate a points transfer in each of the three calendar months to meet the offer requirements.

    Also, this previous comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12851370/redir

  • Thanks OP. Anz auto today. Forgot citi november unfortunately. Might just keep citi for now or go krisflyer

    • Citi are now technically NAB.

      • Does that mean you can auto transfer citi prestige points?

        • I'd say yes..but I'm not Velocity, Citi or NAB. Guessing it's still Citi branded..BUT..they have already sent out a replacement NAB branded card..

          So don't know

        • I forgot citi in Nov as well.
I dont think so, they aren't NAB credits.

  • thinking if I should just bite the bullet and transfer out given I'm using payall for points and the NAB takeover…

  • Reminder for month 3. I am coming up to my end of year with the card so I transferred the lot.

    • +1

I'm waiting until tomorrow to transfer. At the time of this post it is still December in some countries.

      • I transferred on 1st Jan (afternoon AWST) , but its showing 31/12 on Velocity statement!!

        • I'm in the exact same position.

What can we do here? I'm on the phone to Citi but their offshore team is useless.

Is an AFCA complaint the only thing that can be done here?

          • @arcticmonkey: Check your transaction activity ( click on summary) on Velocity, It should show something like below, I chatted with Velocity rep and they confirmed it should be okay

Activity date 31-Dec-2023 Process date 3-Jan-2024 Description REWARDS POINTS TRANSFER

            • @Ehty: Thanks mate. I've been on with Citi for over half an hour. The offshore bloke is struggling to provide a resolution. I don't think he understands what is going on so I hope you're right.

              I emailed Velocity as well.

            • @Ehty: I have the same dates as you in Velocity.

It seems strange they are saying to use the process date. If you transferred at the end of the month and it kicked into the next month, what would happen?

              • +1

@arcticmonkey: I emailed Velocity about this same issue in November. See here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14569277/redir

                • @daanish: Thanks for sharing. Seems like they allowed a day's grace at the start of the campaign but I'm not sure how this would work for month 3.

I was on with Citi for over an hour yesterday and the bloke provided no suitable resolution. He even refused to provide a complaint number.

I've reported this to AFCA as the Citi/NAB agents are useless in my view.

I've transferred all of my points but I have a PayAll transaction processing shortly so I'll make a transaction once that's processed.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Citi points to be added after a PayAll transaction is processed?

  • Dang, completely missed out this deal.

So my bonus points from Westpac just landed today. I was about to do transfer to Velocity but reread the T&Cs closely and realised that, for manual transfer, you must do once in each month starting from Nov.

    • probably wait for the next offer in May

  • . Bonus Points will be allocated the member's Velocity account BY 29 February 2024.

Has anyone received the bonus points yet?

    • Not yet but I received the velocity email saying I’ve completed the 3 transfers

      • Was this email from Velocity or your bank?

  • I did not received an email confirmation when I’ve transferred from my Suncorp Rewards account, I’ve received an email confirmation for the month november and december by using Citi Rewards….weird

  • I just received an email ‘ Congratulations, you've earned 20% bonus Velocity Points!’ for doing 3 transfers in 3 months.

If I do another transfer now in the third month, will I still receive the bonus points on that transfer?

  • +1

I've done my three transfers (Citi) yet I've received no email regarding this offer at all. Should I be concerned?

    • If it makes you feel better, you are not alone. I'm in the same boat.

      • I've done 1x Suncorp and 2x ANZ transfers and also have not received any emails.

    • With Citi and the same. I’ll give it until mid/late Feb for it to work itself out. The proof is in my velocity account transactions, and I assume in yours (and other people’s), so need need to panic yet.

      • Bonus Points will be allocated the member's Velocity account by 29 February 2024.

Yeah sure, but I don't think I'll feel confident about this until the points are sitting in my account.

Let us know what answer you get.

    • My bonus points came through today (I had checked yesterday, but nothing). All were points were transferred via Citi to Velocity in Nov, Dec and Jan. Never got an email or anything. It all just worked out as it’s supposed to. Just need to be patient.

  • +1

For the 3 months manual transfer (I'm with Citi), it doesn't have to be same amount each month, right? E.g: I only transferred 10k each for the past 2 months, but I can transfer bigger amount this month and should get 20% bonus for the total (all 3 transfer)?

    • I'm assuming… I did small amounts in the first 2 months and just dumped all my points in January into Velocity

      • Wow, I transferred all my points (had 300k of Citi) a few days back and my account is now suspended, can't even login. Not sure why, either someone hacked my account or if it's related to that big transfer. I called Velocity CS, and all they can say is: my account had unusual activity and pending investigation, so they wouldn't disclose anything further at this stage and will contact me within 13 days.

  • Has anyone received their 20% bonus points with ANZ auto transfer?

Do we need to wait until 29/2/24 to receive?

    • My auto transfer just went through, waiting on the bonus. Will update if I see anything on my end!

    • I'm with ANZ and I'm also still waiting for my bonus.

    • Still waiting for bonus as well. Transfers from ANZ, NAB, CITI. FYI, No emailed informing me that I am on Third transfer or whether I am eligible for bonus or not.

Did any one receive those email?

  • I still haven't got anything. Anyone else?

    • Got points today

      • Ah nice, got mine this arvo too!

  • Any Amex transferor received their bonus yet? I transferred from Amex MR early nov, early dec and late jan. Not a single confirmation email on fulfilling the transfer criteria.

    • Update: Got the points today.

  • +1

I did manual transfers with NAB and HSBC and received the points today. Hopefully others see it come through.

  • Got points today

  • Points arrived just now.

  • +1

Anyone received points for auto-transfer from NAB? I have received bonus points for my manual transfers but not this auto one.

    • Auto transferred mine as well from NAB, still waiting. However I know NAB does their auto transfers on a weekly cycle, so Velocity might just be waiting for the cycle to complete.

    • I did manual transfers with Citi and auto transfers with NAB. Received the expected bonus for the manual transfers, but still not received the bonus for the auto transfers.

      Confirmed this from the FAQ.

If I manually transfer in November and/or December and then opt in to auto-transfer with a Participating Partner, will I receive a 20% bonus on all 3 months of transfers?
You will receive a 20% bonus on all points transferred via auto-transfer during the campaign period. If you manually transfer with Participating Partners each month for three months in a row during the Promotion Period, you will also receive a 20% bonus.

Emphasis mine. So we should get both sets of bonus points, but like previous poster said, probably just the processing queue.

  • Nothing from auto-ANZ transfer yet

    • Same here. Anz auto transfer bonus not received yet

  • +1

    Got mine as well today

  • +1

    Received mine on 2nd February

  • Received mine on 2 Feb. Manual Citibank transfers.

    • +1

  • Received mine on 2 Feb too - with AMEX Ascent.

  • Anyone that did anz auto transfer got your bonus points yet??

    • Nothing on my end yet, checking daily

      • still nothing for my anz auto transfer :(

        • Still none on my end too, but I got my 250 bonus for flybuys transfer :)

          • @frogduck: Still waiting for mine too, transferred 3 times via auto-transfer through ANZ Rewards too…

            • +1

@b-t: Still nothing here, slowly approaching the 29th deadline!

      • Still nothing :(

        • Yep same here, thought it would be closer to the manual transfer ones

  • Has anyone got their bonus for their NAB auto transfers? Not sure if I should be chasing it up or leaving it another week

    • +1

Nothing here with auto redemption via NAB. I wouldn't bother emailing until the final date.

  • Still nothing from anz auto transfer

    • Yep same here, still waiting!
