Designer deodorant sticks are pointless, you can barely smell them

    • The CK series are not bad, especially when they are on special.

      any reason why? just curious

There is LOTS AND LOTS of research done on this exact subject, and repeatedly the studies have found absolutely no link between aluminium and breast cancer - please stop spreading this misinformation.

https://labmuffin.com/should-you-avoid-aluminium-in-deodoran… - this is a great explainer on the subject, please read the entire article carefully.

          • @Nom: Hey, cool down. I answered as per my knowledge and opinion. Thank you for enlightening us all. Btw, it has happened in the past that pharmaceutical has used the research processes to get FDA to approve the use of an ingredient. We are consumers in the hands of big corporations that can do anything for profits.

            • @sedi: You are a critical thinker

              • +3

@life is suffering: We seem to have gone off the rails here, but making baseless incorrect claims is the opposite of critical thinking 🤷🏼‍♂️

                Here's a nice definition :

"Critical thinking is an essential skill for navigating life's challenges. It involves assessing information, weighing the evidence, and seeking out reliable sources to form informed opinions and make sound decisions."

"critical thinkers do not jump to conclusions based on limited information. Instead, they weigh all available facts while considering multiple perspectives and potential outcomes before making a well-informed choice. "

                • +1

@Nom: Omg. Ok I am not a critical thinker 😀 if that makes things easy. Deep breath and a smile would definitely make a difference. Have a good night. 😊

                  • @sedi: I'm pretty jolly right now actually, apologies if you thought I was being rude ! That wasn't my intention.

Have a good night yourself too 😁

@Nom: Same.☺️ I recommend, Please watch "Pain Hustlers" on netflix. Great show about pharma trying to do anything to sell their drug.

Aluminium exerts its toxicity by displacing and (very poorly) substituting for magnesium in the human body, which interferes with a great many biological processes; it gets cumulatively worse the more it builds up in your system. I doubt enough of the aluminium content in the deodorant is absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream to cause such toxicity, but I am 100% with you, why risk it when there are safer alternatives?

          • @pyr0maniac: drink too much water and that's also bad for you. "Water intoxication provokes disturbances in electrolyte balance, resulting in a rapid decrease in serum sodium concentration and eventual death."

aluminium based deodorants would contribute ~2.5% of aluminium levels in the body, the rest coming from our diet. think about how much raw aluminium we all eat, and perhaps you'll get an idea of how much less of a risk these deodorants pose in comparison.

i see people bagging out pharma companies, and then buying products by other pharma companies which are marketed as "natural", "organic", "not clinically tested", and so on. Regardless of the effectiveness of these alternative medicines (let's not even go there), it's pharma companies who make these other medicines too… They'll do anything to make money, like lying about competing products and spreading misinformation etc…

Not sure what you're getting at, should i avoid water or should I not avoid toxic heavy metals because too much of anything can kill me? Not really a valid comparison, people don't go around eating rolls of alfoil to induce toxicity and nor does water accumulation in the body result in toxicity over time like Aluminium can. And water serves a critical function in biology whereas Aluminium serves only to interfere with it.

That's more or less what I implied i just didn't think it was a necessary risk to take when there are risk -free alternatives, especially given the fact that it can accumulate over time, especially if one's ability to excrete it is impaired.

Couldn't agree more, especially on that last sentence. That's why I just make my own deodorant with baking soda

Great work of doing extensive research in 49 mins 😀

        • lol. not now. few times over the past year, it showed no correlation with aluminium in deo and cancer.

          • @Aap Ke Papa: Ok. By the way I am buying this deo stick because it has no aluminium anyway.

Before you buy anything from Hugo Boss just remember who Hugo Boss was.
He is the reason the SS uniforms of the concentration camp guards in ww2 looked so stylish as they pushed people into the gas chambers :( .
