Viva Energy (Coles no longer has ownership) has doubled the discount or flybuys earn until the end of the year on the supermarket dockets from Coles. You cannot use a fuel card with this offer for a discount but you can earn flybuys points paying with such a card which is different to other chains. You can also stack with other offers so 1 only of the budget direct/linkt/Gday Rewards discounts and also the spend $20 in store save 10c a litre, which includes swapngo refills and sodastream swaps, making a minimum 22c a litre saving.

      Carsales have always only given my 4c off and let me stack with Coles docket , so you get 8c off. How did you get 10c off with Carsales?

    Seems like a good deal. Unfortunately nearest Coles Express is 31c more expensive than cheapest petrol nearby.

      australian fuel is dogshit compared to rest of the world. very high sulphur content. aus market corollas are detuned to run on our 91 unleaded

      general online consensus is that BP ultimate 98 is the best, but is of no benefit to your car if it does not require premium fuel.

      Not necessarily.

      Viva Energy took over operations of Shell Coles Express on 01 May 2023. The acceptance of Coles fuel vouchers, Flybuys and gift cards issued by Coles Group has not yet changed as a result of this.

      I will point out that this could all change at any point in the future, particularly since Viva Energy plans to buy OTR and then replace the Coles Express brand with OTR within the next couple of years.

        It could also end up like EG did with Woolworths where EG bought the fuel stations and rebranded them, but still have the partnership (at least for now, of course) for the fuel discount.

          My gut feeling is that OTR wont do Coles discounts.

          OTR and the peregrine company have always preferred to their own way. At the moment you get a random discount when you pay at the pump using their app (guaranteed 2c minimum, I’ve had 20c a few times).

          They want people ordering via the app because they make a lot of money off of click and collect coffee and other food sales through it.

            @muzzamo: OTR when they are acquired are a very small part of the network, 124 outlets vs the 1350 currently under the Coles/Liberty/Westside banner, already most of those do fuel discounts via Coles or auto clubs etc.

            @muzzamo: Whilst the OTR owners may have a stake in Viva as a result of the transaction, the Coles partnership (post-Coles sell-off) is a part of the Viva side of the ownership. My tip is that you'd be able to redeem your Coles '4c shopper dockets' or the saved 4c discounts in your Flybuys Cards/Apps at the existing OTRs when the supplier side gets rebranded from BP to Shell.

            Viva won't be paying a rival brand to keep BP around.

    Normally i avoid Shell as its usually 10 to 16 cents more than a servo just 300 meters away but looking a petrol spy app now its the same price on all their fuel. Going out later today I'll fill up.

      Depends on where you are and the local price cycle but fuel generally is not a profit centre for retailers. https://www.aip.com.au/pricing/terminal-gate-prices has the wholesale price ex terminal, add costs for getting it into the ground on site and you can see there is little margin. Brisbane is currently around $1.94 so 13c margin at present, Sydney different story at $2.23 average so after 22c discount or 9% , those prices are excluding transport costs, location operating costs etc.

        So I ended up paying new pricing for the old fuel still at the retailers storage. For days.
        Very obvious trick.

    This offer keeps on referring to "bring in your Coles shopping voucher" But the fuel offer is now digital and no longer on the shopping dockets. Doesn't seem to make sense.

      I do not see what the issue is.

      If you read the homepage of the Shell Coles Express website, it says:

      When you redeem a valid Coles 4c shopper docket, we’ll double it to 8c!

      If you read the terms and conditions of various Shell Coles Express / Shell Reddy Express promotions, it mentions the following under Coles Supermarkets Fuel Docket Discount:

      To redeem the Fuel Docket Offer, a customer must present at the counter of any participating Shell Coles Express or Shell Reddy Express service station:

      (1) a paper receipt containing the “shopper docket”. The lower section of the paper receipt must be surrendered upon redemption; or

      (2) a voucher containing the “shopper docket”. The voucher must be surrendered upon redemption; or

      (3) a Flybuys card or app which when scanned indicates the availability of a “shopper docket”.

      In other words, Shell Coles Express / Shell Reddy Express treats paper and digital Coles fuel vouchers as the same thing. It makes sense to me.

      If you don’t scan your flybuys card a physical voucher is printed on the receipt, and I still see more physical vouchers than digital ones in store as many find the activation process difficult apoarently.

    2. Visit Ampol Caltex Woolies Petrol station
    3. Activate RACV 4c barcode

    5. Go to counter and pay
    6. Show Rewards barcode
    7. Show RACV barcode

    9. Ask for Receipt
    10. Check receipt for correct application of 8c discounts.
