Thanks OP - this is a good price.

I bought a couple of these classic packs for my kids to get away from the typical predefined builds and use their imagination instead. The problem is that the pieces included are so tiny and limited that you can't do much with them.

I feel like you'd need to buy a dozen boxes, including the sets with wheels, windows, etc, in order to build anything substantial. It's a very expensive way to buy Lego.

I ended up getting a bulk used lot on gumtree.

    • I got a couple of these, a small bulk lot off marketplace, and ordered doors and windows direct from Lego when I grabbed one of their exclusive christmas sets. The kids haven't done much with the doors and windows yet, but it's nice to have it all there for when they do.

Agree in general. You'd think with 900 pieces that'd be enough, but you never, ever, have all the pieces you want. If it's not the right shape it's the colour. If it's not the colour it's the size, etc.. However, if you have any intention of going further with Lego, Classic sets are still the best bang per buck. You just have to commit to buying a lot :-)

    • I made the same mistake - bought three boxes of the 1200pc "set". Would have been better off spending $200 on a proper set and dismantling it.
From the 3,600 pieces I have just enough bricks to build a small building or room - in 16 different shades!
Looking closer atthe selection, there isn't a really significant number of any particualr element - except the basic, horrible green 2x4 brick of which, inexplicably there are 12 in each box!
