These punch much higher than their weight. They may not be a replacement for a pair of proper studio speakers but for near field listening or desktop speakers, they are great. I have the 1280DBS with sub out and am blown away at the quality.

More than enough for my studio.

They just need to show me the sound effect lines up well with the animation.

    • Music snobs don't realize how annoying they sound to the rest of the people…

      • Music snobs are fine. Audiophiles are the problem.

even then, I work closely with Audio Connection in Parramatta and even they like Edifiers for the money.

        • It's the same as with any discrimination of a subculture; It's the loud minority who give everyone a bad name.

After working in the industry for several years, I'd take Audiophiles over Music Snobs anyday.

          With an Audiophile you can discuss the technical aspects of a thing; and how or why their snakeoil won't help;
For example, I enjoyed educating clients on how FLAC worked, compared to their WAV files, or how 'tuned high impedance RCA cables' are usually nothign more than a fancy way to say 'cheap and thin'.

With a music snob though? It's always a 'bad pickup on the instrument' or 'Novice mastering on that track'; all things you/I have no control over; and is often pure guessing. "You don't like my system? Then your choice of music is the problem…." Take a hike.

    • Gonna have to agree with you. FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 55Hz-20KHz

But that doesn't mean that they aren't great sounding speakers at the price point either.

      • It's like when people buy a soundbar with the smallest subwoofer and are let down…. Like damn, go big or go home. Feel the Bass.

        • Not everyone has the budget for a Skyline GTR. Some people can only afford a second hand MX5, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun with it..

      Much difference between the 3?

      • No idea haha

I have the 1380DBs. I bought them over the 1280s specifically because of the Bluetooth 5.1. But despite this, there is still a lag between the audio and video when streaming movies, watching YouTube etc. Annoying that between supporting BT 5.1. and Qualcomm APTX, this problem still exists in 2023. Does come with a 3.5mm AUX cable to get around this, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having bluetooth.

Isn't the bluetooth so you can just stream music from your phone when you want to listen to some tunes… games and movies should be hardwired.

        • +1

My Bluetooth head phones have latency so low I don't notice it when watching TV shows. This shouldn't be an issue with Bluetooth 5.1, but it often is.

As for these speakers, I would avoid them. The first and only set I bought years ago had to be returned because they sounded wrong. I read on Reddit that this is a known quality control issue Edifier have.

        • games and movies should be hardwired.

          That's an opinion.

Also interesting to hear that even with the refreshed BT they don't work alright. I got a model with older BT and I have the same problem, however I believe the range is also poorer.

    • Quite sad, came back here to "chastise you" that speakers were only stereo, not 5.1 …

Really hoping Edifier will come up with a 5.1 solution… I'd like to see just 5.1 lpcm support from hdmi passthrough or something.

    • Centrecom also have a surchage for payment.

  • Have these speakers for my PC when i'm not using my headset, they're great.

  • This one is very, very cheap too https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806047

No matter if these or the R1010BT for $59, consider buying speakers with headphones jack in (preferably at the front; also useful are volume controls at the front), if you often use headphones.

    • +1

You can get a 3.5mm to RCA if you need headphone jack

  • Amazon using couriersplease to deliver these meant they never arrived for me. Despite the refund still pretty annoyed that they continue to use that company despite the 1800+ 1 star reviews

Amazon using couriersplease to deliver these meant they never arrived for me.

They don't solely use Couriers Please. It will depend on your area and who the "Sold By" is on Amazon. It doesn't always directly come from a Amazon DC.

I get a mixture of Toll and Australia Post for Warragul, VIC.
