The only downside of this product seems to be that it needs to sync data manually using third-party apps with iphones because it is Fitbit
    I don't think they'll ever fix it

Fitbits also regularly require warranty claims due to poor build quality. There's more than 1 downside.

Source: my mum went through about 5 models of fitbits over a number of years. Constant churn of warranty claims, at least 8 across that period. The bands fail with scary regularity.

      • i've been pretty lucky
got a 3 year old charge 4 that i'm probs gonna replace with a charge 6 if there are any decent deals on black friday. had no issues, battery just isn't holding enough charge for longer GPS-tracked workouts now.

the old man replaced his charge 3 in around the same time frame (3-3.5 yr)

Geez some people are very unlucky or not doing it right. I've had a Fitbit charge 4 and 5, the 5 is great no issues. Usually purchase from Officeworks price matched, you can take it back there if any issues they usually give you a new one on the spot.

It may have been taken over by Google but don't have to convert the app (data) till 2025 (but I did anyway as on Android), I know plenty of people with an iPhone using one (who don't want to spend $600+ on an apple watch). 7 day battery great, stuff charging a watch every day.

3rd party bands are cheap af on eBay, plenty of styles colours.

Anyway depends what you want, fairly different devices to what people may want, mine stays on 24/7 but wear a normal watch too, every are very minimal for your main time piece (more for health and fitness tracking).

        • I'm currently using charge 3 and my brother also using luxe and he also used alta but both of us using an iphone with it.
I understand what you want to say and it could be correct if you want to use it with an android phones.
The reason of the original comment was that it provides a designated app for iphone which won't let you integrate the data with apple ecosystem, only for their app. I think the main reason of these "sport band" will be track down your workout session and sleep patterns to understand yourself more, but what if the platforms with the tracker and the monitoring device are trying to neglect each other every moment? you need to integrate it manually or open the app every time and try to summerize from both platform or rely on one side, most of it would be a waste of time.
if fitness tracker doesn't provide an accurate data with easier approach, then you might be better rely on the phone itself or go for the sport band which will provide the service which trying to blend in your main platform(most of them doing it, withings, amazfit, fossil, garmin, even samsung). or you can just use it as notification band.

          • @prototype95: I see.

I don't have an iPhone bit wouldn't imagine it is designed to integrate with the ecosystem
Not sure what that is anyway, I only look at the Fitbit app. Nothing else to do with the phone or google apps.
Most people with an iPhone would have an apple watch.

            • @G-rig: Yeah.. but it's a good thing that we have a choice for it anyway.

Competition between these companies could be helpful and beneficial for us like this deals.
Hope there's a chance to see better product from fitbit since they even have a division bought from pebble.

              • @prototype95: Yeah dunno, not sure what you want as far as integrating. Garmin would be the same.
I find the Fitbit good for fitness tracking and metrics, minimalist with long battery.

Apple watch would integrate best with iPhone

They probably would have preferred a tuscan villa with its own vineyard and staff in the location of their choice but a watch is nice too.

  • So you need any subscription plan for basic use?

    • free app is fine but use the premium trial up first.
