Nice looking design. Is it a homage or a own design for them?

    Anything similar but 39mm?

    Nice looking watch 👍

Is it just me or is the following feature 'claim' somewhat undermined by their immediate additional info:

    20ATM / 200M Deep waterproof(Support Cold Shower and Swimming, don't operate watch when underwater, do not support hot water);

So a cold shower is fine, but reaching for the red tap will potentially be more than it's '20ATM/200m proofing' can handle? :-/

    • Steam is the issue.

      • Without stating the obvious and something that really folks buying this watch don't expect - but it's nothing like 20ATM waterproof. A lil water vapour, as from a hot shower shouldn't be an issue - steam, which is only from 100c+ water, yeah would be. This thread covers its reasonably well:
        https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/steams-effect-on-watches.…

And just to be clear I think this is a moot point with this watch, which is excellent value for money - just a tad silly they claim 20ATM when likely well under 5ATM.

      • I have a beat up F-91W hanging in the shower to keep track of time. It's been exposed to steam, vapour, hot water, cold water, soap, shampoo, winter, summer, never had an issue.

By "operate" it usually means fiddling with the crown or using any chrono pushers if it had them. There's no watch that supports crowns and pushers being operated underwater (maybe some g-shocks will let you use their buttons underwater but certainly not the crown).

Showers have rapid changes in temperature from room temp to hot when you get in and back to room temp when you get out, and soap and gels and shampoos that can do nasty business to gaskets and oils (which is what provides the waterproofing). Even Rolex tell you not to take their watches into hot water.

    • It’s likely a bit of CYA, as if it can handle 20ATM some steam is unlikely to get in, but if the seals are run under hot water for a long time it could cause some issues. I take my 200m (even 100m honestly) watches in the shower, but I wouldn’t wear them in a hot bath or sauna.

Anything similar but 39mm or less?

If I'm ever gonna buy an open heart watch it better have a nice tourbillion in it

    • -2

I’m catching downvotes for this. I know I’m being a bit whingey, but just look at that dial. The open heart gives nothing in terms of aesthetics, and detracts from eligibility. It’s lose-lose

      • It's okay to have this view, I also don't get the open heart thing.
This link leads to a pic that explains why they did it.

Briefly, using the Seiko movement also used in that Presage. A Pagani designer wanted to show that off in a genre-defying design that breaks all the rules!

I have this watch, my first automatic and I love it. Mine only gains a few seconds a day and I only realized the other day that you can see right thought the open heart with the glass back. It is a chunky piece though.

The Pagani "Planet Ocean" homage is a good deal at the moment too. With coins and coupons it comes to $65 delivered for me.

    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005952808622.html

    • I have both PD1736 and this watch - the planet ocean homage is a better watch overall, which I wear every day now.

    • What coins and coupons?

The planet ocean looks pretty good. I'm thinking of getting one just for kicks.

      • +1

The coupons are automatically applied as part of the current Choice sale.
Coins are accumulated from doing tasks in the AliExpress app.

        • How's the band like? Most of the review says it's not great/stiff. Would you be ok to swim with the band?

          What colour did you get?

I'm tossing up between the white dial or orange bezel.

I already have black dial diver's and chronograph.

          • @JimB: I have the orange and black, looks similar to this:
            https://www.omegawatches.com/en-au/watch-omega-seamaster-pla…

It depends if you want to be mistaken of wearing an Omega :)

For me the band is comfortable, although there is some glue residual visible on the outer surface of the band, not sure if it's just a defect on mine.

            • @3d3e3fae: yeah the orange is uniquely Omega but I couldn't pull off a 43mm watch.

Still tossing up between the white dial and orange bezel.

              Thanks for the info.

            • @3d3e3fae: I ended up getting the white dial.

It only a couple of bucks extra, but when you check out, why doesn't it match AliExpress initial advertised price.

              • @JimB: yeah usually a bit more, i suspect it was GST but not certain.

                • @3d3e3fae: Naah it's not GST.

                  Black magic.

They know by the time you made up your mind to buy, an extra 3% isn't going to stop you.

Very odd that I'm that excited to receive a $65 watch in the mail.

I owned it for months now, some pros and cons:

    Pros:
    * Robust construction - scratched / knocked it a few times no traces left behind so far.
    * Uniqueness - not really a homage to anything
    * Claimed 200m water resistant - as oppose to 100m for similar watches in this price range.
    * Bezel has almost no back-play - also rare

    Cons:
    * The wrist band will fray - especially the ties
    * Slight misalignment of bezel and dial - not possible to align 12, 3, 6, 9 all at once, but only when you look at it very closely.
    * Face a bit overwhelming and reading the time can be difficult occasionally - because of the 24h dial + open heart + no anti-reflective coating.
    * The 24h complication is not very useful, especially when having the day hours arranged at the bottom - would rather have the date complication with a NH35 movement.

Thanks for the post WN. Prompted me to look and buy this. New seller but at $85, I'll chance it. Unfortunately black was out of stock elsewhere - https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006151270212.html?spm=a2g…

  • Nice watch but far too big for my wrist

Anyone know of a watch that is maybe 36-38mm and has a leather strap?

  • Oops, ozbargained?
Getting "Sorry, the page you requested can not be found:("

    • Ah, no, still available, twas just some glitch I guess.
