  • So i can connect this to 2 solar panels. Do i need anything else to connect my garage off grid.

    • No. These are grid connect microinverters. They won't run off grid.

  • hmm… max power up to 550W but 2 panels - hmm, so only panels below around 280W or so. Standard panels these days are up around 400W. Might work for one of these if you only connect one but you'd need to confirm the preferred input voltage range I imagine.

    • Thanks for the info…you know more about this….again, I'm just selling this for a very good price and depend on visitors to do the research.

  • Thank you for your enquiry….we offer the lowest price for this inverter however depend on visitors to do their own research if this inverter is suitable for their purposes….I highly recommend that you click on the link in the deal and click on the "Manufacturer Full Specifications" where you will find the datasheet.

  • thanks OP - did this and note that the datasheet suggests it will work with Panels up to 440W (presumably only one unless you are happy to have the device throttle the output to 550W. However, it also says
    - Grid Connection Compliance AS/NZS 4777.2:2015 Grid connections now require 4777.2.2020 I think so is it legal to actually install these.
    - the data sheet also notes that the YC600 must be installed in conjunction with ECU-C or ECU-R in order to comply with AS/NZS 4777.2:2015

Not sure these are legal to use here in Oz.

    • The product appears to have been legal at some point for a properly qualified installer to install in Australia. Providing you installed it with an AP System ECU-R gateway. When I google I find the same company selling the YC600s is also selling ECU-Rs.

  • Thanks Idyllboy….wow…you really already looked into this…hmm…my australian distributor(and it is a distributor established in Australia for many years and Australian operated) still sells this and I sold some about 3 months ago…so really would have to ask them on Monday

Pretty average selling products that is seems like you by your own admission don't really know about or understand. Though I do appreciate the late 1990's nostalgia your website gave me. Half expecting one of the links down the bottom to be to Yahoo or Altavista

    • Thanks BLB1984….sorry, yes, I concentrate on the price and I deliver as promised..I just don't know the ins and outs of about 5000 products and I encourage you to find a lower price….and yes, my website is very old but always hope that some visitors would appreciate the nostalgia….and no, I always link directly to the manufacturer products…this way at least visitors don't need to search around…but again thanks for the feedback

When I searched on ebay for microinverters the other day I found that the 4 panel version - 1200W max - of this now superseded/discontinued product is also available at a substantially lower price than other similar microinverters. Just under $300 if I recollect correctly. But two of these strung together with 2 panels on each would be cheaper than 4 panels all connected to the larger model.

They both limit you to rather smaller panels than are available these days. But apparently will throttle a higher rated panel down so it doesn't exceed the rating of the microinverter.

The replacement product from the same manufacturer, the DS3, is designed to connect today's larger panels without needing to throttle them.

  • Thanks GordonD for all the research. Yes, the DS3 is the replacement model for both the YC600 and QS1…I know it is an old model but I think for someone like you who knows about using/installing this it is a good deal

  • Hi dr…so sorry….just checked and working on my end and for other visitors…my apologies

  • Do many locals install these?

Encountering a lot of installers who lack experience around these better inverters (vs string) or actually offer system upgrades or inverter replacements (unlike their cookie-cutter marketing webpages)

  • Thank you UsernameChecksIn, I sold a few of those to a customer in Cairns however that person already had a system with these APsystems inverters. It's probably best to ask an installer to check the datasheet of this inverter to see if they can help you…again my apologies I don't know much about these inverters I just offer the lowest price and full Australian warranty.
