Rip and Off. Yeah it tastes good, but is it worth $100/kg? Definitely not.

    • +1

      beat me to it

      • +2

Yeah don't get me wrong i love jerky enough to see who won other awards. This companiess Biltong also received a Silver Award http://www.barossafinefoods.com.au/shop-online/smallgoods/be… at only $60/kg.

The business that got the gold award i guess only sells in store as i couldn't find any prices on their website. Anyways i personally think the awards are meaningless and go to whoever rubs someone the right way or tells the 70yr old lady judging panelist that she is beautiful and doesn't look a day over 50.

        • -1

          EscimoJoe-

          Biltong is not BeefJerky!

It is a heavier product and the reduction of meat is far less-Different method, different ingredients and different taste. Three kilos of Nolan "Private Select" reduces down to 1 kilo of Geronimo Jerky. Most biltong has only a 50% reduction and is still moist (small shelf life).

We do sell our beef jerky by the kilo like Barossa does for a cheaper price. Every time we put a post in someone compares a lower weight to bulk pricing of a kilo.

As far as the judging goes we didn't get a chance to fly down to Sydney-All product is sent with only a reference number, no names are on product and it is judged by more then one person.

        • +3

I'm quite aware of the difference between the two. The point is it also received a silver award. So it must taste just as good as your beef jerky according to those expert panelists. Great Taste, Different Texture, $30/kg cheaper, and free shipping if you're in SA.

Also there is plenty of online companies selling Jerky around the $60-$70 mark. I was just comparing the silver vs silver award.

Some of the best jerky I've had, but at $90 a kilo it's just too far a stretch

    • +2

yeah, i bought a pack of Jack Link's when it was half price the other week and after tasting it again after a long while, i though what a waste of $2, comparing it to Geronimos…

The Jack Link's also gave me a headache from the MSG… Must say though you need good strong teeth to tackle Geronimos…

      • This.

I bought 20 of 50g ex Ekka in 2009 and gave 10 of them to my family and ate the rest myself. Ended up with cracked/chipped 2 of my bottom molars. Needed root canal treatments for both, cost me $3000. ouch.

        • i needed a root canal too on a molar just over a year ago…

do you think it was the Geronimo jerky? It's quite possible… :O

I had just got through a couple of 200g bags….

$3,000 is a lot to pay for 400g of jerky……….

        • In my case pretty sure. Consumed all during Xmas 2009 n felt the pain afterward. Went to the dentist n found out it was a crack, no decay. I did a regular check up a few months before n all was OK. Got the treatment in January n another one / adjacent molar in February. Maybe my teeth aren't strong enough…

        • Hello Moonwalk,

I am sorry that you had cracked teeth BUT I would have assumed you would have contacted us and told us but you did not.

I don't think meat would be able to crack a tooth unless there was an underlying issue.
Also we did not go to EKKA in 2009 AND we do not make a 50g bag of jerky-Never have, never will?

          No offence, just sayin

Are you a qualified dentist to make that statement ?

        • +2

          Yes JV, I am!
This is why I can not show you my face :-)

Great product. I'd recommend trying it for the price. Delicious

      Thank you so Much Flashi,

We will try to have an amazing Ozbargain deal for xmas time so keep your eyes pealed :-)

    • Not sure why I get negged for stating my opinion. I like the taste

      • dunno, I don't see why people want to burn the rep here either. Have a Plus.

          Hey Elijha, Thank you-

I was pretty proud that we won and as a small business wanted to tell the world :-)

We are a small business but slowly getting bigger-

15 months ago we offered 50% off on a deal and got inundated with ozbargain orders and it took nearly a month and a half to fulfil orders. We filled all orders but still to this day get slammed. Geronimo Jerky was truly Ozbargained that day and will never live it down. We have not made that mistake again and have prompt delivery all around Australia. We also always pre-pair for deals and only use one supplier so no issues there.

Anyways, I am still proud of what we accomplished so far..

          Big Chief,

No point in retelling the story of yester-year.
If you are truly intending to share this great news,
why not repeat the "inundated" deal again?

I'd really like to order another kilo of the flammin, but looking at the current deal, Ddavid Unaipon just feels better sitting in my wallet.

The one who still waits for his free-sample pack.

We Will Throw in a Sample Pack of All Flavours

can you provide it in a separate bag instead?

      jv, stop being a jerky

      • Get your hands off my jerky, turkey!

  • Hi could you please provide a shipping cost for this deal to 3941?
Seems odd you have to be a member to even see postage cost :(

Free shipping would seal the deal me thinks : - ) ;)

  • +2

i think everyone hates GJ from the failed 50% deal a while back. i just don't like their jerky. dry, over-spiced and overpriced (even when on special).

    • you like wet jerky?

    • -1

Living up to your account name I see

  • +1

I'd order this if it was free postage…

    • Postage for me was going to be $9.10 for 200g but it's also $9.10 for two lots (400g) so I managed to find a friend who also wanted a pack and we split the postage.

      • Not everyone has a jerky friend though…

        • -3

I much prefer jerking friends over jerky friends.

        • thanks for sharing that Mr. Kerr

  • Seriously how does Geronimo Jerky compare with "Jack's" Black Label? http://www.jacksblacklabel.com.au/

(Note: nothing to do with "Jack Links" Beef Jerky - which is rubbish)
    http://www.jacklinks.com/

I bought a few packs of Jack's Black Label and this has been the best Beef Jerky I've ever had. I had Maple and Chili variety.

So if anyone here can give unbiased feed back on Jack's black label vs Geronimo Jerky please do so. Beef jerky is an expensive product now days. So if you're going to pay top dollar, you might as well get the best.

    • Is "Jack's" jerky the same as Jim's jerky? (http://www.jimsjerky.com.au). They seem to have the exact same flavour's (Safari, Chilli, Garlic, Peri Peri and BBQ). I have tried jim's jerky before and didn't like it very much.

      • No Jims Jerky ain't the same. They all want to give it this "J" name… to be trendy. I've been eating jerky all my life. Jack's Black Label is far ahead of the rest. You'll know imediately! (can't tell you about Geronimo Jerky)

  • Total price with shipping is $29.10.
There's no option to select the flavour (that i can see) except a text input box near the very end of the transaction to 'leave a note'. It's a rather lengthy process the first time i guess.

Extremely dry jerky which snaps when you bite into it. Very poor experience from last sale. Would not recommend.

    • It was a poor experience because it snapped when you bit into it? What did it taste like and what flavour did you try? Just wondering.

  • Geronimo web quote: If you are currently eating some other brand of beef jerky, you're eating the wrong one!
My interpretation: If you are currently eating some other brand of beef jerky, that's a sign you got trolled eating the wrong one!

    http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQeGDP54thwzy18TcLfC…

  • ok, well i just found out it was infact Jacks Black Label that one the GOLD at the 2012 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.

I'll try your jerky Geronimo as it has won some awards.
Just wish the deal was sweeter…
