  • No i still havent

Hi all - I applied last week the 12th, and was approved today the 19th. Am I still eligible for the 30k bonus points offer?

    • I would also like to know, applied 14th got approved on the 18th

    • In the same boat.
      I called up to check (13 37 39)

They told me yes, which is enough for me to chase up if I don't!

  • Anyone still waiting for their card? Approved on 5 Dec, still nothing as of today..

Called the hotline yesterday and the operator just said to wait few more days. Ridiculous, wonder where the cards are printed taking this long

  • Applied 14th Dec afternoon, got approved a few hours later.
Got the physical card this afternoon.

  • Virgin Money approved on 18th Dec. Still haven't received card yet

Card approved on 17th dec. Does it mean that my next statement is 17 Jan and I need to spend 1500 minimum by 17 January to get the bonus pts?
Then 17 Jan to 17 Feb, anothet min. 1500 to get another set of bonus pts?

    • +1

      Yes I think so.
      Have you received your card?
Hopefully mine arrives next week after boxing day..

      • yes I received it a few days ago.

  • Does water bill payment to Water Corp counts into the $1,500?

    • Probably not

    • Pay with zip first

  • Currently waiting for the second statement to come from Virgin Flyer… the 8th is when I got approved but decided to check the date of the previous statement and it was the 10th that the first statement was issued on… guess I probably have two more days to wait.

In the meantime, I may as well delete the credit card from GPay, Paypal, and all the direct debits so I can pay off the card asap after the second statement arrives and cancel it.

I've already used the travel credit for my wife's upcoming trip to the Art Gallery of NSW so there's no real reason for me to keep the card. It's only going to work against me when I go for another credit card for bonus points. Besides, the HSBC everyday global debit card saves me more with its 2% cashback.

    • Statement came this morning and so did the points!

Time to pay off the credit card and cancel it.

      Easy 95k points.

      • Did you get the virgin 5k points?

        • No, the 5k was earnt points from spending. Had a few large costs during the second month that added up.

          • @Mugsy: I meant these

            • @Ehty: I know. I didn't get that bonus.

What I meant was that the 5k on top of the 90k bonus points was points earnt by spending on the card.

  • Cancellation of the Virgin Flyer card was quick and easy. Can be done on the online banking portal. I put in the application this morning and the card is gone from my mobile banking app already.

    • Likewise!

    • is it possible to cancel in the app? can't find the cancellation option.

website version doesn't work for me:

FYI - I was able to successfully request a full refund upon account closure of the $64 annual fee for the virgin money CC (after all bonus points received & $120 flight credit requested). I gave the credit card team a call and told them I needed to refinance my home loan and they were happy to refund annual fee without any hesitation. The refund will appear in my next statement and they’ll send the amount via cheque shortly afterwards. Great deal for those who were approved. 90k velocity points + $120 travel credit for $0 fee!!

    • How long did you have the card for?
For the Virgin flight credit, is it in a form of voucher which can be redeemed when booking Virgin flight online?

    • As another data point - called to cancel and asked if they could provide any refund of the annual fee, and was told that the fee would remain charged because I had received the benefit of the promotion (30k points for first two months). Still proceeded with the card closure.

Might have to call again later and see if a different operator will provide the refund of the annual fee!

      • Have now called a second time and was told the same thing!

        • Did you try a third time? Any luck lol

        • Cancelled and Refunded, using the refinance excuse as mentioned above.

          • @Ehty: That's awesome, I might give it a go. Did you get the refund easily or did you have to try multiple agents? And was it via phone call?

            • +1

@vee_el: The first agent did via phone call, some cheque will be issued.

              • @Ehty: Do you know if you still retain the $129 Travel Bank voucher even when you cancel your card?

                • +1

@vee_el: Its still showing in my Travel bank

Virgin Money rejected my application. Gutted. I quickly submitted another application with Westpac and was approved 12th Dec.
I just received my first statement with Westpac - and received the 70k velocity points as part of Westpac's offer. Hoping the bonus 30k points will come soon. Anyone who took up this offer with Westpac, did you have to wait long? thx

    • +3

30k bonus came through to my velocity account as soon as Westpac credited the bonus points too.

    Applied on 17/12
    Approved on 19/12
    Spent 1.6k 27/12
    30K + 30K Received on 21/1.

  • i applied and was approved for the Virgin Money velocity and the Westpac Altitude Velocity Black credit cards in November.
Both were approved 17/11/2023 and 18/11/2023.
I received the 30,000 points on the Velocity card but not the Westpac card.
I have reached the required spend on both cards and have received the sign up bonus points for each card
The promo did not state it was one set of bonus points per customer.

Did anyone get two cards and get two set of bonus points?

    • Me too. Online chatted with velocity and they asked me to wait for a month as it stated in the T&C that the 30k bonus point can take 1 month to post. I doubt if the points will ever post though.

      • +1

Thank you for contacting us about your bonus points from November Campaign and we do apologise for the delay allocating your bonus points.

In reviewing your account, we see that you've already received the 90,000 bonus points for spending the minimum spend criteria last 18 January 2024. Please know that the 30,000 bonus points will be credited on your account after 30 days receiving the 90,000 bonus points.

  • Anyone get the bonus 5000 points?

    • mine came together with the 2nd month 30k, assuming you mean this

      • That's the one, thank you.

  • My Velocity Flyer card application was a nightmare that ened up taking nearly eight weeks from application to recieving my card but had the bonus points credited to my Velocity account within a couple of days of my first statment being issued. I actually thought I wouldn't get the 30,000 bonus points as half way through the two months it took them to approve the card, and after the bonus points deal had ended, they emailed me for the third time to upload documents and confirm my ID. When I rang them to ask wtf was going on they quoted a new application number so i thought I was screwed. Worked out in the end but the whole process has put me off applying for another NAB backed card any time soon.
