Hey folks,

Hope November has started well for everyone!

After the positive response to the past deal on a single origin coffee from Ethiopia we've been able to bring another one to the table. This time it's a natural processed coffee so expect much more pronounced fruit! We're tasting Blueberry, nectarine and milk chocolate.

We've also got some value packs from Pillar - both espresso and filter roasts. We'll try to add more from other roasters too :)

Also, if fruity coffee isn’t your thing we’re still offering 40% off the Atypical Candid Blend.

As always, please reach out with any questions.

Cheers,
Tim

  • Is the Atypical Guji a real fruit bomb? I have purchased a few natural Ethiopians recently that don’t seem to be packing the same fruity punch as they seemed to a couple of years ago..

    • +3

Good question! Short answer would be that if you’re remembering naturals from a few years back with big juicy strawberry notes then unfortunately this isn’t that sort of fruit bomb.

You’re definitely right that there have been some disappointing naturals from Ethiopia in recent years. My theories are that increased prices have led to some serving up blenders as singles. But I also think the rise of CM and other processing methods that amplify flavours mean that regular naturals can seem almost flat. That second one is just a theory, but I am second guessing my memories of those older coffees.

In short, not as big a fruit bomb as naturals from the past but still a very tasty natural.

  • How long is this deal going on for?

Very tempted but recently bought 1.5kg so kinda want to wait to end of the month lol

    • Very understandable! Looking at current numbers, I don't think this will last beyond next weeks dispatch :)

  • Yay for the excellent Pillar filter deals. Filter coffee is getting super expensive (which I understand is not your fault) so these deals take the sting out.

    • Glad to hear mate! Will be interesting to see if filter coffee follows the same trend here as it does in China. Because it's so expensive there's much less tolerance for quakers and other defective beans. This means that systems like optical scanners are becoming more common to sort out these problematic beans. The end result is much more consistency, but of course the cost of the equipment adds even more to the cost of the coffee. Hopefully we'll start to see more filter coffee green coffee at old prices, but it's hard to say.

  • I highly recommend the Guji. Tastes incredible. I’m tasting strawberry.

    • Love to hear this :)

  • How do we get the filter coffee for the price?

for example, I am getting $64.95 for the Pillar - Costa Rica Tirra Estate – Filter Roast

    • Sorry! I think I’ve made a typo here. I’ll fix it up as soon as I get back on my laptop.

  • Where are the wine glasses?!!?!?

    • +1

      All gone I'm afraid :(

  • Is the Guji strong enough to cut through milk in lattes?

    • What are you go to beans for lattes? Will help me calibrate an answer :)

      • I’ve really enjoyed the Atypical Candid and that Atypical Neapolitan / peach blend too, although I just noticed the Guji is sold out?

        • Gotcha! If you enjoyed the Uncanny (Neapolitan / peach blend) with milk there's a good chance you'd like the Guji too. Yes, I'm afraid we've only got x3 250g cans left for this week.
